About a month later, Loyd, 41, fatally shot Dixon inside her Orange County home in December, police said. The attack also killed their unborn child.

Police had been hunting for the accused killer for weeks when Clayton, who was on duty and wearing her uniform, recognized him in front of an Orlando Walmart Monday. Loyd opened fire when the officer demanded he stop, police said.

Clayton was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, and the shooting triggered a massive manhunt across Orlando.
