What you have to do is look at Africa for the problems inside Africa. We did not enslave/sold our own people. The Asante did not see themselves as fante and vice versa. The concept of all Africans being one is a modern concept. People in Africa see themselves as different. Similarly like how the English saw them selves as diferent from the Irish which led to the colonization and enslavement of the Iish by the English. The never saw themselves as Europeans(one people.)

So to say we were selling ourselves is a great misconception. 80% of Africans sold into slavery were prisoners of wars. Others were sold because they were kidnapped. The few who were sold by their own peoper were those sold because they offended royalty, stole, adulters etc...

The atrocity was when they decreed that people of color were not human AND TREATED THEM AS SUCH.
