Los Angeles (E! Online) – X marks the spot for a Wolverine sequel.

Just two days after Hugh Jackman's domination of the box office—Box Office Mojo estimates the film's worldwide gross at $158.2 million and counting—comes the rather unsurprising word that a follow-up to the origin story is already in the works.

According to Variety, the sequel, which will mark Jackman's fifth time donning the killer claws, will focus on the X-Men comic's samurai storyline, the Japanese locale setup for which is teased after the blockbuster film's end credits.

Meanwhile, the action star Oscar host is showing no signs of slowing—or being typecast—with no fewer than four other projects in the works, one of which will be a 2010 return to Broadway as the titular Houdini.

Rounding out today's star-studded castings: Ben Stiller , Christina Aguilera , Wilmer Valderrama , Peter Dinklage , Ken Watanabe and the newest Mad Man.

As for Jackman's big screen ambitions, he's looking to reteam with his Oscars duet partner Anne Hathaway in the big screen adaptation of the musical Carousel. Per the trade, he's also on board to star in the race car-centric Drive and as an heiress-protecting NYC detective in Personal Security.

Ryan Reynolds talks Deadpool sequel

by Jane Boursaw on May 5th, 2009

How does Ryan Reynolds describe his character Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"? "He’s a cross between Commando and Phantom of the Opera … a man on a mission kind of thing."

That’s a kind way to describe the mutant assassin, whom we learned earlier today is getting his very own sequel (along with the official word about an "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel).

A source close to Fox says the Deadpool sequel will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, and will be “a complete exploration of this unique character — his origins, his emergence as the Merc with the Mouth." No writers are attached yet.

Is FOX in control of the Deadpool movie? If so, Marvel should get off their ass and halt that shit. I would argue he isn't a part of the X-Men franchise so they don't control the licensing. Fockers.

Wolverine II: Logansun. This tells the story of Wolverine learning to be a samurai in Tokyo. There he falls in love with an american girl named Kim. When Kim is captured by a Tokyo crime boss, Logansun springs into action to save her. Special appearances by mutant sisters Jubilee & Shadowcat (hell if Silverfox and Emma Frost can be sisters, why not?).

Wolverine wasnt THAT bad of a moive....Ive seen worse. Now instead of making a deadpool spin-off...why not make a gambit movie

Hugh Jackman gone fucking blockbuster status in <5 years.

Oh, and his best work to date in my opinion - The Prestige.

Amazing film if you haven't seen it yet.

Props to him.

Gotta agree with you on The Prestige. That was a quality film.

You know, now that I think about it ... Chris Nolan directed Prestige, who also directed Batman.

Christian Bale was in it too...

Hindsight being 20/20, I think a bulked up Bale would have made a better Wolverine

and Jackman would have been a better Batman because he can make the Bruce Wayne character more believable.

I still have too much trouble believing Bale as Wayne.

upon further thinking i think i could see that working especially if they stuck to the way wolverine really is
but i personally feel Christian sold me one the bruce wayne character with Batman Begins, but he needs to cut that bullshit voice he was doing for batman

I will say this about the Wolverine movie...from a comic book fan standpoint...and continuity with the other 3 Xmen movies....They fucked up big time.

Judging it from just a movie goers perception...they did good

I will look forward to the next movie as well as the Deadpool joint although they fucked with his charachter too much
