but i heard vaguely that they might replace Toni with a white woman. ive heard mixed feelings on other boards.

how yall feel about it? does this defeat the purpose? disrupt the balance? or a desperate attempt to even the playing field for white actors to encroach "minority" based programming.

the last instance where they encountered a white woman was that "wigger" episode. so i dont see how acquiring a white friend is convincing, considering the dynamics of the show

i kinda stopped watching after Toni left anyway...and there wouldn't really be a "replacing" anyway because she's gone and I don't think would have ever returned on the show anyway.
yeah it irks me that most white people are in charge of everything...one black comedian who is a regular on comicview (i forgot his name) was doing some taping and ALL of the crew and directors and cameramen...everyone WHITE!...I had never seen so many white folks on my block...lol

I am no insider but I watch the show regularly.

Monica, (Keesha Sharp) that lil chocolate big titty woman that's Williams' wife is the 4 girlfriend. She is Toni's unofficial replacement.

Furthermore, the show has gone to lengths to keep Toni's name is the mix. They are probably waiting for her bills to get a lil delinquent.

For the record, Girlfriends and the Game are both show Exec. Produced by Fraiser but the creator is Mara Brock Akil.

Those 2 shows are (taking a deep breath) acceptable situational comedies representing black folks in the new millenium. Premiered 9/2000. What else is there? Girlfriends is one of the longest running show on the network. It is a bread and butter show at this point. The game is watchable for sure.

Add Run's house, Celebrity Fit club and the weather channel to the mix and that about sums up my weekly tv watching.

I used to really like that show, but it fell off big time. But as far as the topic goes, Toni was never really identifiable with many Black women I can relate to anyway. I'm not hating, but Toni went out of her way to distance herself from Black culture like her shit didn't stink.
And the last few episodes I witnessed (like a car wreck) were painful to watch as they fumbled around the fact that Toni was no longer on the show. Bullshit plots that had Toni coming to town and the girls having lunch with her but never showing her. GTFOH....
And why they didn't have any fat girlfiends? Rarely do you see a clique without one heavy set or less than attractive member. That makes the fine ones look that much better.
Okay, i'm done venting... Oh yeah, I can't even watch that The Game bullshit.

Why is the site banned? Also the show's been on a lot of years and has been very low rated all of those years. This show's audience is like 80 percent female and likely 75 percent black. I'd add some white faces to increase those numbers and keep getting paid. That Toni broad didn't know how the game works. The first mom from the Fresh Prince left and the show didn't miss a beat. I thought the Toni character wasy annoying anyway. I like that big bootied chocolate sistah they got that corny dude with now. Show's late in their run often add new elements, with sitcoms kids are most common.

What's the "being bitch azz nigg. part", the show is what it is, an accurate depiction of young black women in their daily existence.

It's very-well written, I was really impress with the few episodes I've seen.

Its not about "improving our shows" its about improving the profit they make off our shows (which are really theirs)....

It is a fact that no product can make "sufficient" profit if it does not garner interest from enough white consumers, so having a white charecter will give the show more "cross over appeal" and make it more attractive to advertisers. They had the jew for the interracial bit but that did not do the trick...LOL... They need a real white cracker type to get those ad dollars comming in.

They dont give a fuck about you the black viewer ... but not cause they dont like you but mainly because white audiences are more "profitable".

Bottom line: White people like to see themselves in EVERYTHING or they lose interest in it. No whites - no interest. Of the black shows imported from the merger, Girlfriends was the most popular.
