Boy ya'll on one today. The Color Purple is some inspirational shit. It is about black pain. There are quite a few cats in there that ain't shit. Men, women, black and white. It's fictionalized, but honest about how women get treated. Shit, how black women get treated by their own and white folk. It's about how some people can change. Everybody in the script had an arc from the beginning of the movie to the end. Most of those arc mirror time, wisdom and just life happening to you. Ho-tep ass muhfuckas wanting to wage war on some black shit it beyond me. Shit makes me sad how you can't at least try to see some redeeming value in a film where 95% film's acting was done by black people.
I don't think they need to remake the shit because it's a classic and needs to be left alone. You don't see people trying to repaint the damn Mona Lisa!

20 seconds into the trailer, it immediately hit that The Color Purple was a pointless remake.
Edit: Finished the trailer. I get it now. There is an additional element to the movie. But still, I would have preferred an action version. Lmaooo
Basically, it damn near looks like they just remade it scene by scene instead of making their own version.
That’s exactly what they did for the most part, but I see the singing angle the put in there with Cicely. So it’s coming off as more of an inspirational movie.
