Why are they trying to remake Color Purple? Hasn't that movie done enough damage? WTF!

Director Blitz Bazawule is reimagining The Color Purple for a new generation. The 1985 historical drama based on the Alice Walker novel delved into the intimate suffering of Southern Black women in a way rarely portrayed in mainstream productions.

Bazawule co-directed Black Is King and distributed his feature debut The Burial Of Kojo on Netflix through Ava DuVernay’s Array Films.

The original production was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Danny Glover. It was then adapted into a Broadway musical in 2005, experiencing several star-studded revivals in locations including Chicago and London. The production earned Tony, Grammy and Emmy awards for its innovation.

Out of the original Color Purple in 1985 spawned the whole "I don't need a man" narrative.

That gave birth to several talk shows, and gave rise to Maury, Jerry Springer, Oprah Winfrey Show and countless others all slamming men and boosting feminism.

Seems it's time to up the anti with the next generation with the same negative/self destructive ideology.

Please, let family act, mofos gotta eat. Fuck yall on? Batman been fighting the joker in 20 different versions, Spiderman done got bit 1000 times, Superman done fell in love with Lois and dealing with ZOD a dozen times at least and still didn't ZOD her, but niggas should give it a rest. Naaa son, we need to eat. Fuck that.

Who wants to see this shit in 2022? We need more Black pain as entertainment?
Now this is something I can agree with. I love we have plenty of content out there but its always wrapped in pain, misery, sad endings, melancholy. I steer away from it and find myself watching action flicks, documentaries, and other shit. My lady on the other hand can watch that sad madness all day. Yeah, I'm good. Like even watchin the recent Aretha Franklin shit, she gets child molested, she gets beat up by her hubby, her daddy is overbearing, slaps her, like wtf. Nobody's life is perfect, i get it, I just need a break, shit reality is bad enough, I don't want to see that shit in my entertainment.

For a new generation huh

The straight black man is gonna be abusive toward his black wife, gay son, transexual daughter and other types of wild fuckery
Its already gay shit in the Color Purple.

In the book Shug Avery had sex with Celie and they had somewhat of a relationship.

It was left out of the movie but if they do a remake, i can guarantee that will definitely be in it. That's probably the only reason why they want to remake it.

that role was not abusive, that's white people telling blackman to give up being in charge of your household, your community, your women. we fell for it, then when daniel moyihan told black men that the black women is your enemy by being dominant, wearing the pants in the family, it changed the way we relate to black man

I just know I came out that flick and my friend was like.... you know most of you guys

are like that.. and I was like what guys, and she was like, you dark skin bruthas,

yall look past dark skin sisters as soon as a light skin or pale skin girl walked by....

I tried to argue but she had waaaaaay toooo many examples in the street alone.......

fuck a color purple 2 tho, we been there done that shit!!!

Most classics should not be remade. I went ballistic when they remade A Raisin In The Sun casting no acting Puffy Combs in the Sydney Poitier role and equally miscast Felicia Rashad as the family matriarch who was originally and powerfully played by Claudia McNeil. Remaking that classic was a sacrilege and a remake of A Color Purple would be one as well.

I spoke with my ex-wife a couple days ago and she said that when I was a kid my father used to put me on his knee and make me call her ugly and other names. I must have been really young cuz I don't remember this

M.I.S.T.E.R.

I once saw my father throw my mother down the stairs, run behind her as she's tumbling and punch her in the mouth at the bottom of the stairs knocking out her front tooth. True story

That movie got so many quotable lines, that a remake would fall way short for the original. And how those lines where delivered and by who? Yeah, the remake can’t do it.

They should turn the Color People into an action movie with robots and aliens and call that shit the Color Purple 2: Rise of Mister

Remaking color purple, fresh Prince is or was on anyones let’s do this list. No one can recapture the greatness of Glover or the soul of Shug Avery or the atomosphere of the original. This will fail just like that remake of Roots did
Yea this is like trying to remake Thriller. The bar is way too high.

ALL OF THIS!

They used The Handmaid's Tale for white people, now they are rebooting this for black folk and will most assuredly double down on the feminism, female victimization and make pretty much every black male (that's not gay) nothing short of a moustache-twisting villain or an idiotic man-child.
Danny's part is being played by Coleman Domingo - a great actor...who is gay in real life. So, its a big "fuck you negroes", here's some more feminist rhetoric with an extra dose of "men-ain't-shit" and a full dose of emasculation. Oh, and most likely some "innocent gays" will be persecuted as well.
This is why plenty of men are exiting the west stage left as quickly as possible.
Its falling hard and fast.
Social programming via the media is in full effect these days.
