I don't think there is a certified or universal "Best", the top comedians bring something different to the table.

Richard Pryor? :dunno:

Eddie Murphy
Redd Foxx
Dick Gregory

List is incomplete...:hmm:

No it isn't it actually is too long.

You can't include Pryor, Murphy, or any of the other older comics because you'll never get a realistic survey.

After a certain point in your career, and especially after death, you reach a point where you can't be touched because your fanbase and people who were raised on or were in their 20's and 30's when you were hot will never acknowledge those who came after.

No matter how good a comic is who came up in the 90's to certain people they will never touch Pryor, even if someone were to be 10x better those people would never acknowledge it and would argue themselves into a coma trying to disprove you.

This list for the most part consists of people who came up around the same time, give or take some years, and therefore you can get an honest look at them without some prejudice (although you can never remove that element completely from anything involving opinion.)

hard to pick between chris rock dave chappelle or jerry seinfelf but had to go with Dave. I can watch his shows and still laugh just like when I pop in Delirious or any other older standup

Why the fuck are there so many Dave chapelle votes? He's not a good stand up comedian really. He's very average. I think most people are thinking about the show. The show is not stand-up. Jamie Foxx is funnier than Dave Chappelle at stand-up and Kat Williams is as well. Along with a long list of others.

Damn fool. Kat Williams is a very average comedian who uses the same material for years at a time.

Jamie Foxx is funny as hell but he's a underachiever when it comes to actual standup and specials. He's never had a groundbreaking huge comedy special like Chappelle has.

"Killing Them Softly" by Chappelle kills anything that Jamie has done and Kat Williams shouldn't even be mentioned in a list with average comedians so he damn sure shouldn't be considered for this.

At the end of the day though its all opinion which is why there is no such thing as "the best" in any category.

Yeah Chris Rock had 3 good specials so for the mainstream crowd he's number 1.
Katt had it but it looks like Kevin Hart is poised to replace him - fuck around with Kevin and have an asthma attack from laughing - I remember saying that about Rickey Smiley and Katt Williams when they were peaking.

Ced, Steve Harvey, Seinfeld and Chapelle are about the same - equally funny but you have to sit through some straight bullshit before you get your money's worth.

Never gave Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia and George Lopez a chance - you can't say something funny in the first 20 minutes, off you go. Jamie Foxx is an amazing actor but fuck his standup - he beftter be stacked with several comedians I want to see *and* free tickets before I'll waste my time with him.

Bullshit. Dave isn't funny. And the coon show wasn't a big deal.

Jerry Seinfield

Joe Rogan
Jamie Foxx

So when is the last time any of the above done stand up? :dunno:

This is just a list. Hell Kevin Hart is a better comic of TODAY than any of the people on this list. Except Chris Rock.

I can understand not putting the old dudes on there since this isn't a greatest stand-up ever but how do you put Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia & Joe Rogan and not put Martin Lawrence?

i was jus takin' the poll at face value ... who do i feel is the best out of the aforementioned comedians...

obviously the list is incomplete ... even if we are talkin' only newer school comedians .. hell if we're includin' funny white dudes .. i think louie c.k. and bill burr .. should be on that list...

and as someone mentioned earthquake and kevin hart are hilarious ... and deserve at least an honorable mention ...

but if the OP were to list every comedian that someone on BGOL found funny .. there would be 200 names in the poll ...

and if he included some of the older comics ... most people would probably go with pryor, redd foxx.. maybe some would say eddie .. maybe a few who prefer clean comedy would say cosby ... hell whoopi used to do her thang back in the day ... i could appreciate each one's brand of comedy...

to me ...the arts aren't really a competition anyways .. you can think multiple comedians are great ... jus like you can have 10 favorite actors ..

Chappelle truly shines at sketch comedy, not standup. :smh:

Katt Williams is over-the-top bullshit. It's not true standup in the classic technical sense. Just a permed out ninja with a mic on stage. :smh:

George Lopez is pure garbage. He gets love from the Hispanic community though. :smh:

Steve Harvey is actually a decent standup comic. Not great. Comes off a little full of himself and wears the ugliest fucking suits. He's the favorite amongst the church crowd. :smh:

Cedric The Entertainer is another decent standup comic. But nowhere near one of the best. :smh:

Jamie Foxx? Thank goodness for Booty Call, Ali, In Living Color and Any Given Sunday. His standup (and his satellite radio show) leave less to be desired. :smh:

Jerry Seinfeld? The funny guy of the whole Seinfeld existence is Larry David. :smh:

Chris Rock outshines everyone on this list.
