Man I had to look and see if I quoted you lol wth

I agree w those, I was responding to the i can only think of one Martin quotable thing

For what it's worth I think Chapelle and Martin changed the public vernacular 10 times more than Eddie or Richard, although idk how to weigh that in here

I was responding to this since I'm the OP
Most was from the show but this didn't specify stand up

The chappelle comment was more for alexw, I should have tagged him

chappelle show and martin are equal or there's a slight edge to martin as he did more seasons
but you also have to equate movies
and martins movies blow chappelle's out of the water
hell martin has starred in blockbusters
its chappelle man
You brought up some good comparison arguments.

so are you willing to give up bad boys, big mommas house, thin line between love and hate, life, and the martin show

bro that shit is legendary
skit comedy and stand up just doesnt reach that

I was judging standup because that's the best example of individual comedic ability. Shows and movies is a bunch of writers, directors, actors, etc... coming together to make the star look good and deliver a successful product.

You make a good point though but Martin's body of work is second to Eddie's classics. I can't give up 48 Hours, Trading Places, Coming to America, Harlem Nights.

It's ironic, that they have each at least once worked with another one on the list.

Note: If you get a chance watch the movie
"Lady Sings the Blues," featuring Diana Ross, Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor.

Even more so the biggest star of the previous decade worked with the biggest star from the next

Good observation
Two Interesting things I learned about Richard Pryor:
1. He is half Puerto Rican
2. When he first started doing stand up, he used to use a lot of Bill Cosby's jokes until he found his own style.

Those weren't really things when Chapelle show hit though, which is when he became a household name.

Definitely not disputing Martin's impact either btw

Yeah I was talking about the Netflix specials
Yeah that was the comeback

And honestly I don't think his Netflix specials moved him back to the top of the public eye as much as solidified him as one of the greats of stand up. It was a big deal but niggas not quoting those specials like they did the show.

I think after the way the comedy central shit went left, people were so ready to get done explanation and see him back that that was always gonna pop.

My opinion is gonna make people mad but as far as body of work I seen Pryor the least out of everybody..if by going by all the works of everybody I had to dump 1..sorry richard

Half bake was taking out the theatre after the first 2 or 3 weeks cause the movie studio didnt like the pro weed story to represent their company.. even though it did pretty good for limited release 17.5 million
