By successful I mean which franchise has the largest fan base and earns the most money? The Star Trek franchise has existed for over 50 years, and Star Wars has been around for over 40 years. Each franchise has made movies and series spin-offs. All that being considered, which franchise do you think is the most successful?

That thread asks only about the movies each has made. When considering which is the better franchise you have to consider spin-offs, and fan base. For example, Star Wars had spin-offs such as Droids, Ewoks, Attack of the Clones, etc., Star Trek had STNG, Voyager, Picard, etc.
i would say that star wars is more successful because it has the ability to cater to a wider range of demographics....children for instance.
Star trek is more adults while star wars is more for "family". That in itself contributes to more revenue.

I don't think it's even close, Star Wars! I'm pretty sure their movies have made more money but the merchandising lead is more bigger. Look at how many Star Wars books there are. All the cartoons. All the toys. Disney just opened up a new park for Star Wars. Star Wars is much bigger.
Star wars is like a huge event that comes once a yr and generates a shitload of money when it does than you get to take a vacation the rest of the yr... Star trek is like the small lounge that has to be open yr round to make a decent revenue... Star wars for the win

They have the toys with Kenner. They got the LEGO sets that can go for close to $1000 brand new when released. They got the fast food childrens meal stuff, convience store merchandise like specialty cups.
They got clothing you get at Walmart and Target. They got their branding on certain foods at the grocery store like breakfast cereals, cookies and chips.
I believe in the past they had their brand on limited edition automobiles.
Star Trek does not come close to any of that. The only time you see Star Trek stuff is when a new movie comes out. You see Star Wars stuff everyday regardless if a movie is out or not.

Star Wars makes more money. It doesn't force you to think which makes it more accessible and therefore more popular. It only uses science as a means to blow people up or move them from point A to point B.
Star Trek (until recently) uses actual scientific terms and concepts in discussions while forcing you to think about ethics and morality. This will always cater to a smaller audience.

Star Trek Fan - from beginning to end - favorite Trek is Deep Space Nine though I still hold a place in my heart for The Original Series - growing up watching it on Channel 11 WPIX over and over again -

I would argue you have to wilfully shut off your brain to enjoy star wars. Every single one of them. That shit is bad writing down to the most iconic parts.
Is this a real picture? I never thought she would have large areolas - would be so disappointed if this is fakeI enjoy the scientific aspects of Star Trek, but I've never been a fan of Star Wars... HOWEVER, after viewing Section 31, I felt quite let down.
