What is your opinion on the GAP Band

This question is really for the folks that grew up with that era of music.

Did they ever come as close to an Earth Wind and Fire in terms of notoriety or were they more of a regional hit?

Outstanding and Yearning are beyond classics and the more I listen to Charlie I see where they and a lot of other people gave birth producers like Teddy Riley and New Jack swing,mary,jodeci and all of that shit in the 1990's.

I personally wouldn't compare the gap band to Earth wind and fire but I would compare them more to Cameo. There are a lot of similarities to their style of music. They both had the right balance of funk and soul
