I got a reckless driving ticket on my motorcycle here in VA. Anybody in the area know what the fine or punishment may be? 84 in a 55. First ticket in 2 years.

take the court date and then take the plea usually a lesser fine

What kind of fine is it? $5 for every mile over plus court cost or is it something different for reckless? FUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! I hate riding here in VA!

My Road Captain Of My Motorcycle Club Is Facing The Same Thing Right Now.
He Tried To Go In And Beat The Shit On His Own.

I Told Him To Get A Lawyer Because............
A Lawyer Can And Should Bargain On Your Behalf
He Should Be Trying If Nothing Else To Get The Charges Dismissed Based On Certain Facts That You Have No Idea About
Or
He Should Be Shooting For A Lesser Fine And Charges
So That You Are Only Faced With Speeding.
But Even Then You Need To Get The Speeding Down To Below 20 Over The Limit
Pay The Fine Pay The Lawyer
HE NOW HAS A LAWYER AND IS READY TO HANDLE IT.

The Options Are
1....try To Fight Pay Heavy Fines Have A Ding On Your Record And
Possibly Lose Your Liscense.

2....pay A Lawyer Let Him Help Keep Your Record Clean Stil Pay Fines .....a Little Less Of Course An No Big Ding On The Record.

3....best Case Scenerio Lawyer Tears The Cops Ass Up In Court And The Case Is Dismissed
Pay The Lawyer And Go Home Very Happy

My Whole Point Is Your Gonna Pay Something
Your Money Is Better Spent With The Lawyer.
Either Way This Thing Will Not Be Cheap.

go to the court date before court starts the prosicuiter usually goes over your driving record then he offers you a plea which is uaually a lesser fine and less points against your license. take that shit. if they dont offer you anything when you go before the judge just he will give you three options
lawyer
public defender
guilty
then you state you either want to apply for the pd or get a lawyer if the plea isnt offered.

It all comes down to the judge...I faced a similar charge in VA Beach...around the same speed...at that speed the average driver is definitely facing a fine and possible license suspension...jail time is not likely at all (but anything can happen :( )...I almost didn't get a lawyer which leaves you at the court's mercy (not good) if you plead guilty...cause the cops always show up cause guess what you weren't the only one they caught that night...shit is a setup...I paid a lawyer $500 just to see him literally 5 minutes before court was in session... :hmm: ...that's my word if I had to do any jail time he would've gotten fukked up...but again it's all a setup...he knew the judge and advised me to not postpone the trial cause this was a lenient judge...which I could tell from how he looked me in the eye...he was sending cats home on drunk driving charges so I was good...no jail time and no loss of license...I did get a $350 fine though...here's what you can do to help your situation...take the defensive driving course (it can be done online) the one that gets you five points on your license...it will offset the points you lose from the charge and shows you are taking steps to correct your "behavior"...get your car calibrated...and if possible get positive letters written on your behalf (I didn't get my car calibrated or have anyone write me a letter only because I called my lawyer at the last minute so the advice he gave me was at the last minute)...keep in mind that prior to this charge I had also gotten a speeding ticket a little less than 2 years ago...so I was petro about that...it worked out though cause I had a lawyer and a good judge...fukk with a lawyer that has been working in the area where you got the ticket the longest...he will know which judges to fukk with and advise you based on that...good luck brother!

*edit*

And slow down...I used to have a heavy foot...I keep that bitch light as a feather now...I don't even do 70 no more...also I hope you weren't an asshole with the cop cause one of the things they ask is what was your demeanor when you got pulled over...

THIS IS AND EXCELLENT POINT HERE
I TOLD MY PARTNER TO GO TO THE COURTHOUSE ONE DAY WHEN HE ISNT BUSY....WATCH WHAT GOES ON AND LOOK FOR A LAWYER.
YOU CAN TELL WHO THE HARD HITTERS ARE THERE.
SELECT THE ONE THAT HAS THE BEST AMOUNT OF SUCCESS
WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF BULLSHIT
AND HOLLA AT HIM.

THOSE LAWYERS ON BOTH SIDES AND JUDGES ARE MOSTLY COOL
BUT IN THE COURT ITS BUSINESS HOWEVER ITS ALL A GAME.

Yo since I gave you some info can you return the favor by telling me what the fukk happened to 102.1????? That shit is a sports station now...is 102.1 on a different station or are they just done?!!!!

I got a ticket about 6 months ago I was 35 miles over the limit. I didn't get a radar detector. I just learned the areas where they set up for speed traps. You gotta slow down and be wise. But 84 in a 55. That is over kill. Good luck with that.

With a reckless driving charge in Virginia, especially in Virginia Beach, the judges have the option to send you STRAIGHT TO JAIL, so have your attorney on speed dial just in case. If the law hasn't changed, I think it requires a mandatory court appearance.

I got one a year or two ago, I got like a 250 dollar fine and court cost. It might be more if they do it by the mile. If you have'nt been to driving school then you may have to do that too. Nothing too serious tho unless it's different on a motorcycle.

Yeah when I'm trapped with no CD it's that 91 point something joint or 103 or even 104.5 but in the morning times both 102 and 103 was wack as fukk...as for your question click on the link...

I drive for an independant contractor with DHL in Roanoke and I almost got reckless driving in a School Zone...I was going 48 in a 25...Thank God that officer was nice enough just to give me a speeding in a school zone which is 6 dollars per mile over. She clocked me at 48 but when I slowed down it dropped to 44...She gave me a speeding ticket 19 miles over...That was a blessing...I have until March to pay the ticket

77 in a 65. Got hit for $220 no points and a over the speed limit charge
Insurance company paid no attention to it. Nothing on the record. I don't like riding through VA either but I know better now.

okay, I'm in the same predicament..i was riding my bike when we got hat warm spout in january..i went to 711 to see who was out went home and ran into some bike problems..got on 164 and opened the bike up to re create the problems and i noticed 5 in the mirror. slowed down and pulled over..he runs up saying i was racing and they could impound the bike and that he had to do over hundred to catch me...he hits me with reckless driving racing...i was riding by myself. he then ask me how my record..the last ticket i got was in 2002 but in college i had some issues 97-99..anywho i got 3 plus points..he sys have your lawyer get me b4 court....I have since obtained counsel and she feels confident that she can get it dismissed because va law states its 2 or more vehicles and she will not seek the cop b4 trial..to me its all a game and right now me and u r both in it...

get a lawyer bruh u ride in da 757 and should know they don't like us on the sportbikes to crazy...any rd is punishable by a max of 2500 dollars loss of license for upto 6mo or 1yr in jail..i was hit up in Portsmouth..don't know where u were hit but if it was va bch or chespeake u def need 1. I askeda couple of cops in my club they told me i had nothing to worry..but remember it all comes down to 1 man and what type of mood he's in that day.

Call a lawyer. Most traffic lawyers charge a flat rate for the particular traffic citation, and dismissal is damn near guaranteed. I got popped for MULTIPLE tickets on one traffic stop including failure to yield TO A COP, and a seatbelt violation. ALL DISMISSED.

Call a lawyer, it will most likely cost LESS than paying the ticket and going to court yourself. Your attorney will go to court for you, you won't even have to go. Trust me man.

man if you weren't a va resident, you'd be straight...

i got a reckless driving by speed in brunswick county last year...but i have a maryland license right now...

so i ended up paying i believe about $250 including court cost, BUT that shit didn't transfer to my MD driving record

best thing to do honestly is get at a lawyer cause va law, it depends on county code plus state code....pray you dont get fucking railroaded like i did though...

the sheriff that pulled me over is a bailiff in the court...the judge knew it..still went on with the trial..shit was 100% illegal...but the alternative was spending some time in jail

and whatever you do...whatever story you pick to tell..STICK TO IT! the judge tried to catch me up with roundabout questions...but i stuck to my story and i'm a free man because of it

I got in an accident and was charged with reckless driving in Hampton. I asked several people on campus, and they reccommended this guy:

http://www.johnjrice.com/

Best $ I've ever (well the pops paid but...) spent. I had to pay court costs and of course his lawyer fees, but legally, I was safe. TRUST ME, he's VERY good.

i had a bs reckless driving charge in va. first ticket ever. got a lawyer from the area where i got the charge and he got the cop to drop the charge due to malfunctioning equipment. i dumped almost $500 in his pocket but it was worth it.

I got a 92 in a 55 4 years ago in Chesterfeild. Ended up not getting a lawyer and i ended up getting a restricted license for 90 days, a 200+ fine, and they shreaded my license infront of me. But what was interesting is that after all that it never went on my insurance. My advice is to get a lawyer.

I use to be a public defender in Suffolk. In suffolf they were pretty tough on reckless driving. You should definetly get a lawyer because they can and do send people to jail for reckless driving. Not long though maybe a week. If your driving record is pretty clean chances are you will just get a hefty fine. But get a lawyer of if you can't afford one get a public defender and don't wave your rights.
