The United States for the first time began purchasing Japanese seafood to supply its military in response to China's ban on importing these seafood after the start of water discharge from the emergency Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant into the ocean.In introducing the Japanese seafood procurement initiative, U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel said that “this will be a long-term contract between the U.S. military and fishing cooperatives in Japan.”
Japan's seafood exports totaled ¥387.3 billion in 2022, of which 22.5% or $600 million (¥87.1 billion) came from China, making it the largest export market. Reuters

China is suspending imports of all seafood from Japan, the PRC General Administration of Customs has announced.
Russian enterprises are not engaged in fishing in places where water purified from radioactive substances is dumped from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant.”
