The Police in Akosombo in the Eastern region have found the bodies of two African Americans killed and buried by some unknown assailants Monday night.

The victims had gone missing and a search in their room Tuesday afternoon revealed blood on the floor and a blood-stained cudgel, believed to have been used to hit them.

The Acting president of the Akwamu Traditional Council dispatched over 70 people to complement a police search for the two missing persons.

There were suspicions amongst residents that the two, a 75-year-old lady identified only as Mamlena and 60-year-old Nzinga were kidnapped and murdered.

The two who are leaders of the African American community in Akwamu were recently accused by the Chieftaincy Minister, Dr. Seidu Danaa, of illegally acting as chiefs.

They had been living in fear after threats on their lives and since a Ghanaian Osofo who lays claim to the stool (because he played a key role in its establishment of the community by the National House of Chiefs) forcibly moved to take over one of their houses.

Their fears were heightened when their dogs were poisoned.

Friends and relatives of the two didn't see them Tuesday and all calls to them went unanswered.

Alarmed, they broke into their room but found nobody except blood on the floor prompting fears they may have been kidnapped or harmed.

Akosombo Divisional Commander, ACP Bosompem told Joy News a burial site had been found Wednesday morning and they were waiting for officials from the CID headquarters in Accra to help investigate.

ACP Bosompem said they “suspect that something has been buried there,” and until the place is investigated “we don’t know what is in the ground there.”

According to him, the site was found about 300 metres from the residence of the Africa Americans and plans are currently underway to exhume what is there.

Private legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini late last year brought a suit on behalf of the leaders and against the Chieftaincy Minister whom they alleged had supported one Osofo to mistreat them using national security.

The Osofo was named in the suit as claiming right to the symbolic stool and skin created by the national house of chiefs to reintegrate disaporians.

Samson says that suit was withdrawn earlier this year after the Attorney-General (A-G) called for an amicable settlement.

A source said, some of the leaders, are in Accra to inform the US Embassy and the families of the two missing women.

More tribalism, Ghana was one of the best visits to Africa I've ever had, but the more Black people from the states repatriate with wealth , I always felt issues would arise.

Hope this doesn't blow up. RIP

How different is cacs coming in and setting up shop than blacks coming in and setting up shop?

you can't go around wolves as a lamb and expect the wolves to always play nice. Most of the countries in africa scare me. I don't mind losing my money gambling. I have an issue with them chopping my ass up as I'm running to the airport. I will keep my ass in the carribean. We aren't that goofy.

This is NOT our traditional way. This type of savagery was learned from whites. RIP to the sisters.

Police spokesman Ricardo Henson says the male suspect was arrested before dawn Sunday. He has not been charged yet.

Henson says more details about the man could not be immediately disclosed and says police will issue a statement 'as soon as more information can be divulged.'
The Kings, who were both in their 50s, owned several homes, including their property on Saint Maarten, and owned numerous restaurants on the island.

Successful entrepreneurs, the Kings were generous people whom everybody loved, say friends who can't imagine why anyone would want to hurt them.

'It's beyond me. It was such a shock,' said Terry Tamblyn of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, who last spoke with King two weeks ago. 'I can't figure any reason. It was crazy to me. Everybody loved Mike and Thelma.'

Michael King was a generous man, said Tamblyn, who was a partner with King in St. Maarten rental property.

'He'd give you the shirt off his back,' Tamblyn said. 'They were just the greatest people in the world. I can't think of any enemies.'

King was a retired insurance executive who later started a successful printing business that he sold, Tamblyn said. He said King owned a couple of restaurants on the island and was about to start a new spiced-rum business.

Tragic: Local restaurant owner Topper Daboul described Thelma King, far left, and Michael King, rear right, as 'beautiful' people who 'probably had to hang their wings up at night'

Local restaurant owner Topper Daboul said that he was a friend of the couple and was building a rum factory with them.

'These two people probably had to hang their wings up at night. That's how beautiful they were,' Daboul said. 'Their life was pretty successful ... They had oodles of dollars. They had everything they ever wanted in life.'

Daboul said he last saw Michael King on Wednesday afternoon.

'I knew some other friends had drinks with them that night,' he said. 'We weren't able to reach them on Thursday. We called all day on Thursday. The fact that he didn't call made me a little suspicious, but not a lot.'

Daboul said he drove over to the King's home at the Ocean Club Resort in Cupecoy on Friday and banged on the door.

He said he asked a person who had been on the premises at the time to climb over a fence and see if they saw anyone in the house. Daboul said the person told him that he saw a dead man leaning over a chair.

The island's hospitality and trade association released a statement expressing outrage at the attack and offering condolences to friends and family of the couple.

'St. Maarten is a small, diverse and close knit community. This tragedy pains everyone in the community deeply,' the statement continued.

The Kings' South Carolina, Mount Pleasant condominium is at the end of a cul-de-sac in Tolers Cove on the Intracoastal Waterway next to the Ben Sawyer Bridge. Neighbor Harry Murray said everyone loved the Kings.

'You hear something like that and it's hard to comprehend. They were good people,' Murray said.
