Lunella Lafayette and her ten-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city's Lower East Side from danger.

The news was announced today by Laurence Fishburne during Disney Television Animation's panel at Disney's D23 Expo. Fishburne said, "As an avid comic book fan, I am thrilled to be involved with 'Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.' Disney Channel is the perfect platform to explore this pint-sized female African American superhero and I can't wait for their audience to enjoy the lighthearted adventures of Lunella and Devil Dinosaur."

Meredith Roberts, senior vice president, Animation Strategy, Disney Channels said, "Disney TV Animation is thrilled to collaborate with renowned producers Laurence, Helen and Steve and the talented Marvel Animation team to bring this modern-day roller-skating, gadget-wielding tween superhero and her larger-than-life partner to Disney Channel."

Cort Lane, senior vice president, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment said, "Lunella doesn't know she is the smartest person on the planet, but audiences will soon know how very cool Moon Girl is. Her adventures with giant buddy, Devil Dinosaur, are filled with so much wonder and joy, and this historic partnership with Disney Television Animation and Cinema Gypsy Productions proved the right formula to bring them to television."

Jeff Howard (Planes) and Kate Kondell (`) serve as co-producers and story editors.

More girl power feminist propaganda. The girls are smart and brave and the guys are all idiots.

Take a first look at the cast of Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur cartoon

Laurence Fishburne, who is the voice of the Beyonder, is also the show's executive producer.

Whoever said little girls can't be superheroes? Back in 2015, the writers Brandon Montclare and Amy Reeder teamed up with artist Natacha Bustos to create a Marvel comic called Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, about a nine-year-old genius named Lunella Lafayette who forges a telepathic bond with a gigantic dino after accidentally bringing it into the present through a time vortex. The comic has proved popular over the years, especially with younger readers, and is now being adapted as a cartoon series by Disney Television Animation.
EW can exclusively reveal a first look at how Lunella and her family appear on the show, and the star-studded voice cast (which includes Alfre Woodard, Sasheer Zamata, and more) giving them life. Check out the lineup below. Laurence Fishburne, who voices the iconic Marvel character known as the Beyonder, is an executive producer on the show.
"I am overjoyed to share a little Black Girl Magic with the debut of Lunella Lafayette, her family, Devil Dinosaur, Casey and The Beyonder," Fishburne said in a statement. "We at Cinema Gypsy Productions and Disney Television Animation hope that Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will be a family favorite and an inspiration to the younger generations."

Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will premiere this summer on Disney Channel and subsequently on Disney+ as well.

The Beyonder is a curious, mischievous, mercurial being. He's a comedically impish and self-centered trickster. While the all-knowing, all-powerful Beyonder is brilliant when it comes to the makeup of matter and the universe, he is clueless about humans.
