Bradley Cooper joins CBS' Limitless in recurring role

Bradley Cooper is coming to primetime. CBS announced Wednesday that the Hangover star will have a recurring role in the net’s TV adaptation of Cooper’s 2011 film Limitless.

In the original film, Cooper played a struggling writer who developed super-human abilities thanks to a mysterious drug called NZT, which turned out to have deadly side effects.

The series (which, like the film, is based on the 2001 book The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn) takes a more TV-friendly approach to the story: A man named Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) discovers the brain-boosting power of NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. He’ll work with Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), a “formidable investigator with a dark past,” and Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper), a former military officer and Rebecca’s confidante. They report to Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a “canny manipulator of the reins of power.”

Cooper will reprise his role from the film as Edward Mora, who’s now a senator and presidential hopeful. Mora is still a regular user of NZT who has plans of his own for his new protégé—Finch.

Cooper was originally supposed to be a guest star in the pilot, but Wednesday morning CBS executives announced the actor will recur on the series beyond the first episode. Limitless will air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. fall. See all of CBS’ newly announced schedule here. Below is the first photo of McDorman in the new CBS series:

I wish it was on a cable network or netflix..

Im sure the suits at cbs will work hard to find

ways to fuck up such an excellent concept..

its what they do best and get well compensated for...

being a privileged caucasion with zero creativity is a pampered yet,

simple minded life..

thought the movie was pretty decent... but yeah, I'm sure they'll fuck it up.

the movie was really good. I enjoyed the hell out of it, but this further drive home the fact that Hollywood is totally out of ideas. this will be a horrible TV show

Jesus H Christ.... don't these motherfuckers ever get sick of this formula? Just go ahead and call it NCIS: NZT you lazy bastards :smh:

Limitless was an awesome flick... sad to hear it's being done like this.

I've never seen them already have a trailer the same day they announce that they're doing a show.

They may already have a pilot and the first few EPs filmed already

If that stuff test good they will order the rest

They should have just made a sequel to the original movie. It's another cop show (CSI) as someone else mentioned.

wait...Rush Hour ???

yup

There's no Jackie Chan or Chris Tucker, but 2016 will see the TV version of "Rush Hour" (just as Fox has an adaptation of "Minority Report").

Jon Foo and Justin Hires will play their characters in the action comedy.

I never saw the film. The premise really didn't interest me. Now I will go back and watch it.

Since a lot of film-actors are making their way to/back to TV, I could see this being a win for CBS and Cooper. It keeps his name out there for sure.

And I've always wondered what the HELL happened to Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. I've loved her since "SCARFACE" and "THE ABYSS". So I'll definitely be watching for her.

I rather enjoyed that first episode. Only thing was like it felt like they were cramming everything into the hour time slot which made it feel hurried.

But aside from that, I liked it. Hope next Tuesday's episode delivers as well.
