Did y'all read the article? A judge ordered the TSA after a security agency groped two other students of other high schools. No TSA showed up to the prom due to the fact that they didn't receive the order to comply within time of the prom.
Besides all of that, I don't know NM schools system, but I'm in Houston. There are police with guns in my daughters JHS, then in her HS and police are always in my son's elementary school as well.
When I lived in NY there were regular security through the schools and always one police officer. NM doesnt have this?

This story actually illustrates a HUGE ongoing problem here in the US, that A LOT of people are put into positions that they do not have, and more importantly, AREN'T REQUIRED TO HAVE proper training.
The 1 TSA officer was ORDERED to be there by a federal judge to oversee how and when patdowns are done on students.
What kind of official training (if any) does the security company do?
Here in NY, after a 12 year-old child drowned last year on a school trip, the Board of Ed instituted a new rule that says that a lifeguard must be on duty and that kids going in the water must wear life vests.
I could not believe that in NYC there WAS NOT a requirement that a lifeguard had to be on duty on a swimming outing!!!

The TSA has responsibilities covering railroads, ports, etc also...not just airports. Now, that may be something that you don't like, and that may be very reasonable, but it doesn't negate the fact that they actually do have responsibilities outside of airports.
