All legal, but it's obviously the kind of thing he doesn't want put out there. No doubt he's very very rich and making way more than 500K (although I doubt the 11 billy net worth figure he gives), and it's probably a decent business decision to use whatever your accountant can come up with legally to take deductions.... except when you're a politician running for office.
He actually hangs up on the interviewer when he keeps questioning him about it.
