AOC 'should treat Nancy Pelosi with respect,' says Trump — but Paul Ryan was 'a terrible speaker'

public spat with four outspoken freshman congresswomen in her Democratic caucus. In a remarkable turnaround, he had nicer things to say about her than about Paul Ryan, the previous speaker — a Republican who supported every part of Trump’s agenda in Congress.

Earlier this week, Pelosi scolded the group that has been dubbed the “squad” — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts — for going public with their criticisms of her.

the president said.

At various times, Trump has called Pelosi a “nasty,” “vindictive” and “horrible person.” As recently as last month, he described her as “a disgrace to herself and her family.”

Nervous Nancy Pelosi is a disgrace to herself and her family for having made such a disgusting statement, especially since I was with foreign leaders overseas. There is no evidence for such a thing to have been said. Nervous Nancy & Dems are getting Zero work done in Congress....

Ocasio-Cortez, Trump said Friday, “should treat Nancy Pelosi with respect.”

Earlier this month, after the four progressive freshmen opposed a House border aid bill that ultimately passed, Pelosi downplayed their influence within the party.

“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi told the New York Times. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”

In an interview with the Washington Post published Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez accused Pelosi of “the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.”

“I’ll tell you something about Nancy Pelosi,” Trump said Friday. “She is not a racist, OK. She is not a racist. For them to call her a racist is a disgrace.”

Trump singled out Omar, who along with Tlaib was one of the first two Muslim American women to be elected to Congress.

“If one half of the things they’re saying about her are true, she shouldn’t even be in office,” Trump said.

Omar, who has faced bipartisan criticism over her comments about Israel, has been subject to conspiracy theories and faced death threats from the far-right.

“If one-tenth of what they say about you is true, you shouldn’t be in office,” Omar responded in a tweet. “Next.”

Trump also lashed out at Ryan, the former Republican speaker of the House, calling him a “lame duck” who lost control of the chamber. Excerpts from the upcoming book “American Carnage” quote Ryan as saying he stopped Trump from making bad decisions.

“Paul Ryan was a terrible speaker,” Trump said. “Frankly, he was a baby. He didn’t know what the hell he was doing.”

Ryan led House Republicans for four years until he retired from political life in 2019. The former speaker told writer Tim Alberta that Trump “didn’t know anything about government.”

“I wanted to scold him all the time,” Ryan said.

Like I said in another thread, AOC is a Republican wet dream.

Her millennial attention whoring can't STFU and learn BS is going to bite Dems in the ass come 2020.

Not a Pelosi fan, but she's playing the long game.

AOC is too damned emotional and needs to STFU and learn from someone who's been there longer than she's been alive.

I like both of them but Pelosi is right about airing all their business on social media.

I agree with Dr. Cokehead... Dems need to move in the AOC direction (left, forward) rather than the Pelosi position (center, neutral).

She has not been a good leader when it comes to her attacks on the four female representatives of color who are much more representative of this country's future and the politics of the next generation of Dems.

I said the exact same shit, folks wanted a picture of my hand....

For some reason I would not be shocked if 20 years down the road we find out that AOC was a double agent planted by the Republicans and paid by the Republicans to cause as much disruption and fracturing inside the Democratic Party as possible

Itd surprise me cause it'd mean that they thought being on the right side of things like climate change and health care would be a splintering point inside of the liberal party lol

I don't think she's a plant. Shes just young, idealistic and wants to see changes faster than Washington moves and some of the public are ready to embrace. This is her first term, she will make mistakes. I hope she gets good mentoring yet keeps her passion. If she could calm down a bit and become effective at consensus building and getting things done, she'd be a force to be reckoned with. A lot of that is building relationships behind the scenes tho, not grandstanding to shame people so that they oppose you out of spite or get ridiculed. People like to save face.

There is a time and place to expose folks publicly, but you are supposed to handle your own team differently, unless you are exposing some sort of corruption and are prepared to go all in with receipts. Her getting upset over being chastised a bit isn't it.

So learn how to finesse or how to be a typical corporate Democrat?

What long game is that
Pelosi is looking at seats they just flipped and seeing that those are also battle ground states Making the wrong move loses those seats back (and the House majority), the Presidency, and no hope for the Senate. Shes threading the needle but the rookies aka "The Squad" can't play their position abd let the Dems get on steadier griund before going all willy-nilly with wishful legislation.

The only "power" The Squad has is social media and right now they are using it all wrong. they are playing the short game...

So what's the wrong move? Exposing the party is trash and compromised at the highest level?

Interesting

She’s making mistakes at a time when the room to make mistakes is absolutely nil. Between her, the fake Dem Bernie Sanders, the old guard, and Dems basically being a bunch of spineless pussies, Trump will get a 2nd term AND they will lose the House and Rome is REALLY going to burn. :smh:

Just the ppl that don't pay taxes in the first place lol

If they paid what they should to begin with we'd be in a better place

I never understood this logic.
“They don’t pay taxes.”
As a percentage of total income, they pay less than Joe Average.
As an absolute value, they pay an enormous amount of both income & consumption taxes.

This mantra of let’s make them pay more because they have more is not what a Republic is. That’s what a Socialist plan is.

A democratic plan says, this is what we collect and this is what we have to spend. Let’s not exceed it. If we need more than everyone takes an equal share of the burden.

Keep trying to twist the screws on wealthy individuals simply because they gave more to “take” and the result will be what happened to England in the 1970s when their government decided to ratchet up taxes on those over a certain income line.

The wealthy simply left the country in droves and took their money with them. With huge outflows of Capital and curtailed domestic investment, the economy tailspinned then tanked.

Fuck Nancy Pelosi. Old bitch been in congress since the 80s and in politics since the mid 70s. Old fuckas like her are part of the problem not the damn solution. Over 30 years in congress and you ain't figured shit out by now. Bye bitch!

Tea party did the same thing and they got one of their own as president.

Pelosi ain't shit, expose away

Republicans normally line up behind whomever is nominated. Every single elected official talked trash about Trump but when the writing was on the wall 99.9% of them got in line. Dems have to have someone who excites them or passes one of their 20,000 purity tests. The GOP doesn't care, they retain power at all costs which is why we keep fighting the same battles over and over for rights they roll back first chance they get once they are in power.

AOC and the progressive freshmen congresswomen are the problem? Stop it.

The only reason Trump is defending Pelosi is because he sees she's a weak leader who despite all his racism, violation of the emoluments clause, non-release of his tax records and repeated obstruction of justice steadfastly refuses to initiate an impeachment inquiry. Pelosi acts like a de facto Republican. She's ineffective and a poor and out of touch representative of what her constituents want.

Pelosi is playing the long game because she fears a backlash from voters. She dead wrong in my opinion because those who will vote for or against the bitch in the White House will not depend upon impeachment. Who gives a fuck if he is not convicted in the Senate, the fucker's legacy will forever be tarnished if he is impeached. The Republicans impeached Clinton and they didn't give a fuck about a possible backlash. Fuckin' weak ass Dems make me sick.
