Maybe its because "I" personally know black folk that do have "great" positions and are doing quite well in "corporations." Both which they "personally" own and those who work for Fortune 500's.
In my mind... you're spewing some of the same garbage I've
been hearing for over 20 years which I know to be absolutely false.
Yeah in YOUR mind alright, thats the problem right off the rip.
Quite well? WTF is that supposed to mean? They might be able to flip their six figure incomes into upper middle class creature comforts but again, if you want to crack that 1% that accounts for over a third of the wealth in this country, you have to OWN something. Most of us will never get a chance to own a property or institution that will catapult us into this echelon, but the bottom line is, capitalism is designed to reward those that OWN, not those that beg or borrow, or rent or lease. Why you dispute this, I don't know.
Actually I do know,

you're just beating your chest cause you like thinking of yourself as the guy who sets people straight.

Then set yourself straight cause you're being an asshole right now who talks AT, not TO folk. Maybe if you'd snap out of your little contrarian fantasy, we could have a real conversation.

What if I told you I personally know a black guy and engineer that's working on the next generation of NASA space ship. And guess what.... he's my "own" brother.
I would congratulate you. So what? What if I told you I knew a guy who worked as a consultant for NASA for decades, making upper six figures a year, and read geometric patterns in classical Arab art for his own amusement because he was a mathematical genius descended from a long line of mathematical geniuses, and a decorated vet and martial artist to boot (RIP homie) ? Would that change my point about owning vs. working for, owning vs. leasing or renting, and wealth vs. income? No. It's not relevant at all.
So WTF are you talking about?

As I said... Race baiting is big business in this country... It comes from the television and radio media and also the "white" liberal colleges. Those in that industry don't "talk" to the every day black guy who started out with a plan and worked that plan till he got the results he was looking for... and thats a fact... you know it and I know it...why.... because it absolutley contradicts the fact the way they make their money $$$$ ... its by selling confusion. the more "confusion" you can create... the more "follower's" you can keep listening to you every day.
Again, I don't see where you are going with this.

Sounds like you have a whole bunch of intellectual frustration and you've decided to vent via finger wagging at me about a bunch of nothing. You're like the scraggly, wildeyed dude on the train I try not to make eye contact with -->(me)

(you)

cause I see him chomping at the bit to engage me in a meandering conversation with ANYONE--ANYONE--because he's just discovered a droplet of knowledge which to me is a given, but to him is the greatest discovery since soap.

I know first hand about racism... I've experienced it a great deal and probably in ways "you" will never even understand.....As a matter of fact... I'm willing to bet I know much more about racism than you do.... I can even go back into the 1920's from hearing the stories from my grandparents....not something I read in a book... but something I heard first hand from someone who lived in a segregated city.
Here's the deal with me right now... I decided this years ago and my advice to you is... be "careful" how much time you spend thinking about it... because it can overcome your "thinking" .... .and next your 'spirit and desire"to achieve or accomplish anything in life. It will change your "brain" chemistry from the thought running around in your head all day....
Again, WTF are you talking about Crazy Man on the Train?

None of this is relevant to my point. You're advising me based on an assumption that is not only irrelevant but incorrect.

I'm just tryin to speak in common sense... not race babble
You're not doing a very good job then bruh.

My "points" aren't great... they're facts......Either you have common sense or you don't... I can't teach it to you... you either "choose" to listen... or "choose to learn the hard way."
But I guess you prefer only having "welt's" from from the repeated strap on your "butt"... over listening to what older and wiser people might have to say. I always find it interesting how people when they turn "40" wanna call those who made a way .... always use the fall back response that ... he/she's a sellout... to me... its more like either you're stupid or you're not... I don't think you're stupid... just learnin like I had to do.
Again... this board should be about pics... if you wanna talk about race all day... maybe I'll personally send the HNIC a note to accomodate those who "choose" to talk about racism all day and night.
I didn't say anyone was a sellout. See now this is making more sense. Your generation fought for inclusion at the table of traditional American life, when spending your career building up a powerful brand like Ford, Kodak, Coca Cola, AT&T, State Farm, whatever the fuck was seen as a victory and accomplishment. That's great and all, but we need to graduate to ownership being our primary target, to circulating black dollars among our own cadre of businesses and services. Black folks spend more far money in conspicuous consumption out of proportion to their actual wealth than anyone else in the land. We can always be counted on to flush our money down the toilet making other communities rich instead of reinvesting in our own. That's why I made the connection between small businesses and civic responsibility. The most powerful ethnic enclaves historically and presently are the ones that are completely self-sufficient.
Will you see the immediate perks of grinding for a corporation? No. But ultimately the braindrain process that sends the best and brightest to live, play and spend somewhere else besides their home communities will be reversed, and the collective will be better off. Everyone has their own choice to make, but dude I initially addressed made it seem as if working for corporations was the only sensible option and I profoundly disagree with that. You jumped in the middle of the convo with a premeditated harangue that completely veered off the subject and then stuck your chest out like you just beat some teenager 21-0 in a pickup bball game at the ripe old age of 47.
Finally, your point about OT threads discussing race are valid, but BGOL is a virtual barbershop and like other posters say, you come on here for the pics and end up staying for the articles. It's a formula that made Hugh Hefner--who took a risk and OWNED the Playboy property instead of building it up for someone else--wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. So don't knock the hustle.
