Bond denied for man charged with torture, murder of Dearborn Heights family

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) - The man authorities say is behind the deaths of four children at a Dearborn Heights home was arraigned on torture and several murder charges Thursday morning.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy is charging ex-con Gregory Green, 49, with four counts of first-degree murder; one count of assault; one count of torture; one count of unlawful imprisonment; one count of felonious assault; and one count of felony firearm.

He arrived in court Thursday morning in an orange jumpsuit, and was bound and barefoot. He kept his head down most of the time and didn't really make eye contact with the judge.

Police arrived at a home on Hipp Street in Dearborn Heights early Wednesday morning and found Green standing on the front porch. Inside the home, they found the deceased bodies of four children. Their mother was also found seriously injured.

Green was taken into custody.

Police say Green was the biological father of two of the children found dead, and the stepfather to the teens who were found dead.

Four-year-old Kaleigh Green and 5-year-old Koi Green were found dead from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning from a vehicle. Seventeen-year-old Kara Allen and 19-year-old Chadney Allen were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

The children's mother, Faith Green, 39, was found bound and bleeding. Authorities say Green bound her, cut her face with a box cutter and shot her in the foot, and then shot her two older children in front of her.

Records show Faith filed for divorce in 2013 and again in August of this year. They had a hearing coming up in October.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The father of a Kansas City high school student who was found dead in a south KC motel in March has been charged with murder and raping the teenage girl.

Jerry K. Bausby faces felony charges of murder in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree, incest and sexual abuse in the first degree.

"The community has been waiting for an answer," Jean Peters Baker, Jackson County Prosecutor, said.

On Monday March 21, police were called to the 4 Acres Motel on Hickman Mills Drive after cleaning staff found 18-year-old Daizsa Bausby lifeless in one of the rooms.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner ruled that she had been killed by smothering and had also been sodomized.

"He called Daizsa that Sunday night and had Daizsa come out, and he picked her up and took her somewhere, wherever that motel was," Mayetta Walker, Daizsa's grandmother, said.

According to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Jerry Bausby rented the room around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and video showed him entering the motel.

At 3:31 a.m., a person matching his description was seen leaving the motel. The video also shows that he didn’t return to the room where his daughter’s body was later found.

"Daizsa was silenced by her death; we weren't able to get a full story," Peters Baker said.

Police arrested Bausby Wednesday. He was charged after prosecutors say DNA results matched him to Daizsa's rape.

Her grandmother still misses her to this day.

The 18-year-old was a star student at Southwest High School and was on her way to college.

Walker said Bausby is a violent man who abused Daizsa's mother, Laetta.

"He would curse her out, accuse her of being with other men and stuff and she was not doing nothing (sic)," Walker said.

Laetta Walker got an order of protection against Bausby the month after her daughter was killed because she feared for her life.

Now Bausby is being held on a $750,000 cash-only bond.

"I wanted to make sure the community understood how serious we were about keeping him where he belongs," Peters Baker said.
