Hmmmm.....is this how they will start to try to make child molestation normal now?

Hollywood is NUTS.

Use a powerful figure and name to draw attention and then implement the next "cause" after the #MeTooMovement

As Oprah and Wade said this is bigger than Michael(doesn't matter if it's true or not or ruins him use his name even in death to create the next cause).

Michael's accusers were "thrilled" :smh:

"STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE"

Name dropping songs :dunno:

As I always felt this is just one big game and a joke for ratings and sensationalism.

Well, at least Berry Gordy lineage is in there I suppose. Pioneer for the Diddys and Birdmans.

Coping pleas.

I REALLY hate when people say "My Truth". Truth is truth. It sometimes means "my perspective" and not necessarily the absolute truth which is why his case most likely got thrown out by the courts.

Here's another person who claims to understand body language saying pretty much the same thing.

A journalist who actually is using journalistic diligence in this interview.

This is why I said this thing is just a game for the media for ratings. Michael Jackson still brings in viewers from both ends of the spectrum and if the media did what that journalist above did it would have made the story not last this long for viewership.

There needs to be a bigger budget, slicker production counter doc like this made & aired on Netflix. His estate is losing the game of optics big time. :smh:

They're definitely losing the game of optics to this filmmaker in the mainstream media. They don't have an HBO, Oprah or anyone major media outlet calling bullshit on Leaving Neverland like they should. By the time it's found out how bogus this whole charade was, the damage will be done. They need an spin-meister with juice drag this hack to Hell.

today - winning the war of opinion on twitter/ facebook & podcasts trumps primetime news

Oprah is being attacked online like never before - she recently did some "positive" release and posted it - her comments are 50 to 60% negative
She is still doing interviews defending her choices.

You made a lot of noise by getting involved with Leaving Neverland, via your special After Neverland. How did that come about?

I didn't even have to be in it. I didn't have to take on all that. I said to myself the other day, "Why did I do that?"

Do you regret it?

No, I don't regret it. It wasn't really regret, it was just … actually, I was having dinner with friends and they were saying, "We saw you were in that." Like, "Why did you do that?" This is what happened. I saw it, and I was shaken by it. I wasn't even shaken by the fact that it was Michael Jackson, I was shaken by the fact that [filmmaker] Dan Reed had done a really good job of showing the pattern, and for years, I had been trying to show people the pattern. I'd been trying to say it's not about the moment, it's about the seduction. The first thing I said to Gayle [King] when we watched it was, "Gayle, you've got to get those guys [on CBS This Morning]." She Instagrammed about it, and I go, "No, you shouldn't Instagram, you should just get those guys."

How did you get involved?

I sent [HBO's former chairman Richard] Plepler a text and said, "Look, I'm trying to reach some of your people. What are you all doing with this?" I really wanted to talk to not just the guys but other people who were seeing it because I knew that people were going to be triggered by it. I knew that there would be people who would be re-traumatized by it and would see themselves in it, and I thought, "I can help thread the needle of what is actually happening here."

I assume you hadn't anticipated the blowback?

Oh, the hateration? Honeeeeey, I haven't had that much hateration since "The Puppy Episode" with Ellen [Winfrey guested as the therapist on the 1997 Ellen sitcom episode in which Ellen DeGeneres' character comes out], and it made me think, "Thank goodness Ellen's coming out was before social media because can you imagine?" During "The Puppy Episode," I had to take the people who were on my switchboard at Harpo off the switchboard because of the vitriol. They were scared.

What were people saying about that episode?

The N-word, "Go back to Africa," slut, hoes. … It became racist and homophobic and vile and "String ya up," "It's against the Lord." I mean, you name it. Similar to the Michael Jackson thing. I happened to be on Twitter for something, and somebody had said, "Oprah Winfrey is a disgrace to the race" or something. Yeah, the whole race. I decided, you know what? This isn't going to be healthy for me, so I just didn't engage with it.

Did you hear from any of the Jackson family?

(Shakes head no.) Because for me it wasn't even about Michael Jackson. It was about the bigger issue.

Michael Jackson Accusers Now Allowed to Sue for Sexual Abuse
By Zoe Haylock@zoe_alliyah

James Safechuck and Wade Robson, two men who accused Michael Jackson of sexually abusing them as kids, have just won the right to sue, according to Variety. A California appeals court decided that both men can now have their cases tried under a new California law. In 2017, a trial judge threw out their initial cases as the statute of limitations at the time required them to file before the age of 26. Safechuck and Robson were 36 and 30, respectively. But as of January 1, 2020, a new law in California allows sexual-abuse victims to sue up until they turn 40 years old. It also extends the statute of limitations on a provision that says victims can sue third-party entities tied to the abuser who knew or should have known about the abuse, and failed to take reasonable steps to stop it. “We’re glad the appellate court recognized the very strong protection that California has for kids, and we look forward to litigating these cases to trial,” Vince Finaldi, a lawyer for the two men, told Variety. Now, both alleged victims can sue MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, two companies connected to Michael Jackson’s estate. Earlier this year, Safechuck and Robson opened up about how Michael Jackson molested and manipulated them as children in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, which chronicled Michael Jackson’s history of alleged child sexual abuse.

A US judge has dismissed a lawsuit from one of Michael Jackson's accusers, who claimed Jackson's companies allowed the star to abuse him and other children.
James Safechuck has said the singer started abusing him when he was 10.
In 2014, he sued MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, and has alleged they "were created to, and did, facilitate Jackson's sexual abuse of children".
But the judge dismissed the case, saying the companies didn't have a duty of care for Mr Safechuck.

Michael Jackson Estate Handed Another Win in Leaving Neverland Appeal
By Justin Curto

Michael Jackson’s estate is one step closer to going into arbitration with HBO over the documentary series Leaving Neverland after a court of appeals affirmed a previous ruling on December 14. According to Variety, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that the contract disagreement between the Jackson estate and HBO over a decades-old non-disparagement clause cannot be thrown out, affirming a previous California court ruling.

The clause dates back to HBO’s 1992 concert film for Jackson’s Dangerous tour, and his estate is asking for $100 million over the network’s investigation into the child-sexual-abuse allegations against Jackson, which it claims broke the contract. This ruling, like the previous one, does not mean HBO has to pay up — only that the dispute must now go to contract arbitration, unless HBO wants to try its luck with appealing to the Supreme Court. “We may only identify whether the parties agreed to arbitrate such claims; it is for the arbitrator to decide whether those claims are meritorious,” the three-judge panel ruled. In an effort to avoid the arbitration process, HBO has claimed the clause discourages abuse victims from speaking up.

Michael Jackson estate scores legal win as judge dismisses Wade Robson's sex abuse lawsuit

By Rosy Cordero

The estate of Michael Jackson has scored a victory in court against Wade Robson, the dancer and choreographer who sued the estate in 2013 claiming that the late pop star sexually abused him when he was underage. Robson's allegations were chronicled in the high-profile 2019 HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.
Upholding an earlier tentative ruling, L.A. County Superior Court Judge Mark A. Young dismissed Robson's lawsuit Monday and found that defendants MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures were not financially liable to Robson because the corporations had no legal duty or ability to control Jackson.
Vince Finaldi, Robson's attorney, said in a statement to EW that the ruling had "fatal flaws" and would be appealed "to the Court of Appeal, and to the Supreme Court if necessary."

He added, "If allowed to stand, the decision would set a dangerous precedent that would leave thousands of children working in the entertainment industry vulnerable to sexual abuse by persons in places of power. The children of our state deserve protection, and we will not stop fighting until we insure that every child is safe."

Jonathan Steinsapir, attorney for the Jackson estate, said in a statement that Robson "has spent the last eight years pursuing frivolous claims in different lawsuits against Michael Jackson's estate and companies associated with it. Robson has taken nearly three dozen depositions and inspected and presented hundreds of thousands of documents trying to prove his claims, yet a Judge has once again ruled that Robson's claims have no merit whatsoever, that no trial is necessary, and that his latest case is dismissed."
The Jackson estate has a separate lawsuit that is ongoing with HBO for producing and distributing Finding Neverland; it was ordered to arbitration in December.

Leaving Neverland director condemns upcoming Michael Jackson biopic

Filmmaker Dan Reed says the biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua will "glorify a man who abused children."
By Jessica WangFebruary 05, 2023 at 01:31 PM EST

Leaving Neverland director Dan Reed slammed Lionsgate's upcoming biopic about late singer Michael Jackson as a glorification of a "man who abused children" in a scathing op-ed.
For the piece in The Observer published Sunday, the filmmaker revisited his 2019 documentary — centered on two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who accused Jackson of sexually abusing them when they were 7 and 10 — and said the upcoming biopic sends out an "unacceptable" message: "If a pedophile is rich and popular enough, society will forgive him," Reed writes.
Reed called out what he perceived as the "deafening silence" of press reaction to the film. "No one is talking about 'cancelling' this movie, which will glorify a man who raped children," he writes. "What the total absence of outrage accompanying the announcement of this movie tells us is that Jackson's seduction is still a living force, operating from beyond the grave."

Michael Jackson

| CREDIT: KEVIN MAZUR/WIREIMAGE
"It seems that the press, his fans and the vast older demographic who grew up loving Jackson are willing to set aside his unhealthy relationship with children and just go along with the music," Reed continues. "To them I say this: even if you do not believe a word of what his many accusers have said; even if you are not concerned by the police investigations and the massive payouts to halt legal proceedings, how do you explain the completely uncontested fact that for years Jackson spent innumerable nights alone in bed with young boys?"
He adds, "To the filmmakers, I say: How will you represent the moment when Jackson, a grown man in his 30s, takes a child by the hand and leads him into that bedroom? How will you depict what happens next? By sidestepping the question of Jackson's predilection for sleeping with young boys, you are broadcasting a message to millions of survivors of child sexual abuse. That message is: If a pedophile is rich and popular enough, society will forgive him."

Lionsgate announced last month that Antoine Fuqua (Emancipation, Training Day) had been tapped to direct the Jackson biopic, titled Michael, about the life and music of the King of Pop. Jackson rose to fame as a young child with musical group Jackson 5 before becoming a celebrated solo pop act. He was also a polarizing figure, facing controversy and several allegations of child sex abuse. In 2005, he was tried and acquitted of charges in connection with accusations that he molested a 13-year-old.
The allegations were revisited in Reed's Finding Neverland, which has been denounced by the Jackson estate and the allegations called "absolutely false." It's unclear how Michael might address the allegations, but Lionsgate said the film — made in collaboration with John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of Jackson's estate — would "explore all aspects of Michael's life." Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50.
Lionsgate didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment on Reed's op-ed.
