A Tennessee high school basketball star died after he suddenly collapsed on the court, according to reports.

Javon Craddock, a student at Tyner Academy, was playing Wednesday at the Boys and Girls Club in Chattanooga when he fell unconscious, The Times Free Press reported.

His basketball coach, E’Jay Ward, said the sophomore “stopped playing and asked for a drink and just died,” according to the newspaper.

The 16-year-old was rushed from the court to a local hospital, where he later died. Officials have not released Craddock’s cause of death.

His coach said the team was stunned since the player had no known health issues and didn’t appear under distress during the game.

Craddock’s high school paid tribute to the teen Thursday, remembering him as an “exceptional basketball player” in a Facebook post.

“This upcoming year was going to be a breakout year for him,” Ward told news station WTVC. “He was probably the best shooter in the state of Tennessee.”

Rip young brother, poor kid. Condolences to his family and everyone that cared about him.

What's with all these youth basketball players dying "on the court?" This CAN'T be natural causes! Possible over exerting practice training that suddenly took a toll?

when it is your time to go, you are leaving, no matter what you do. It was his time, RIP. I warn people about this shit everyday, gotta live everyday like it is your last day.

Heart issues gone undetected.. 2 guys died at my high school 9 months apart in 1998. One collapsed at 16 on the court, the other at 13 leaving the house for football practice

Enlarged heart or Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) ....when athletes drop dead with 0 warning because most likely ots one of the two ..... cats need to get thorough physicals I hear Beta blockers can help!

He probably had that heart condition that takes out a lot of athletes. Rest in peace kid
Remember this guy...
"Hank" Gathers was an American college basketball player at Loyola Marymount University who collapsed and died during a game. He was the second player in NCAA Division I history to lead the nation in scoring and rebounding in the same season.Wikipedia
