Charter schools are the biggest scam since trickle down economics.
They aren't any better than a traditional public school(TPS). Many people think charter schools are like private schools but they have the same type of students you'd see at a TPS. They aren't nearly as regulated as TPS's. They often are run by people with no experience in education. They often have un-certified people teaching the classes. They have exponentially more issues regarding money allocation and lax tracking of funds. What makes you say that (genuine question)?
Thanks, knew nothing about these like that. They aren't any better than a traditional public school(TPS). Speaking from first hand experience, I worked as a substitute for about 4 months last year at one in Laurel, Md. They have 3 schools, all funded by the Chesapeake Lighthouse foundation(an organization that apparently didn't exist before they wanted to fund a charter school). The two secondary schools both have mostly Turkish administration(one of the vice principals could barely speak English). The name is Chesapeake Math and I.T. but there is very little I.T.(only the most basic HTML) and half the school is failing math. They have several students that receive in-school suspension at least once a week. They want to do everything possible to keep from giving someone a "real" suspension so they can keep up the illusion that their school doesn't have problem kids.
The high school students often complained about the computers or wifi not working. I asked one of them "do you really think a bunch of Turks are actually interested in educating black kids?" Do you really think they spend all the money they requested from the state on the school? They probably told the state they need 5 million, spend 3 on the school and kept the rest." Charter schools only exist to destroy the teacher's union.
I hadn't heard anything about it since they announced he was starting a school. I think he's only involved as a PR move to say he's doing something in education. It's probably as much his at the Nets were Jay-Z'sThanks, knew nothing about these like that.
But even still, did the school even start. And is this really Puffy's, cause it's another school of one already going I think in CT?
