Trump to end temporary protected status for Somali immigrants in Minnesota

Move could affect hundreds of Somalis who fled civil war in their home country

Donald Trump said on Friday night that he was “immediately” terminating temporary legal protections for Somali migrants living in Minnesota, further targeting a program seeking to limit deportations that his administration has already repeatedly sought to weaken.

Minnesota has the nation’s largest Somali community. Many fled the long civil war in the east African country and were drawn to the state’s welcoming social programs.

But the number of migrants affected by Trump’s announcement that he wants to end temporary protective status could be very small. A report produced for Congress in August put the number of Somalis covered by the program at just 705 nationwide.

Congress created the program granting temporary protective status (TPS) in 1990. It was meant to prevent deportations of people to countries suffering from natural disasters, civil strife or other dangerous conditions.

The designation can be granted by the homeland security secretary and is granted in 18-month increments.

The president announced his decision on his social media site, suggesting that Minnesota was “a hub of fraudulent money laundering activity”.

“Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State, and BILLIONS of Dollars are missing. Send them back to where they came from,” Trump wrote. “It’s OVER!”

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said Trump’s decision “will tear families apart”. The chapter’s executive director, Jaylani Hussein, said in a statement late on Friday: “This is not just a bureaucratic change; it is a political attack on the Somali and Muslim community driven by Islamophobic and hateful rhetoric.”

Trump promised while campaigning to win back the White House last year that his administration would deport millions of people. As part of a broader push to adopt hardline immigration policies, the Trump administration has moved to withdraw various protections that had allowed immigrants to remain in the United States and work legally.

That included ending TPS for 600,000 Venezuelans and 500,000 Haitians who were granted protection under Joe Biden. The Trump administration has also sought to limit protections previously extended to migrants from Cuba and Syria, among other countries.

Sadly most Negros or so called Black people don't have a fucking clue as to who those Somalis are and their intentions to the people of America. It's apart of being poorly educated about world history and other cultures. I know who they are and I don't play with them or fuck with them outside of working on the same job.

You can tell Black amerikkkans till your face goes blue that they have no friends anywhere in the word... NOT EVEN IN AFRICA (in any measurable numbers) But the minute Palestinians start getting their ass handed to them by the fucking kikes, or the Haitians are starving, or the Somalis start getting exiled, or the Venezuelans getting jacked or their tankers, ...... then here come the Black superhero squad ... caping up to defend people who give less than a fuck about them. All amerikkkan Blacks have is each other, and really not even that cause half of our ranks are filled with dizzy ass white jesus ball suckers, or self-hating coons who would gleefully join the KKK if they could. Here is the full 42 minutes of my crew and I exposing Minnesota fraud, this might be my most important work yet. We uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day. Like it and share it around like wildfire! Its time to hold these corrupt politicians and fraudsters accountableWe ALL work way too hard and pay too much in taxes for this to be happening, the fraud must be stopped.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz pushed back against the ever-growing fraud allegations levied against him in the disastrous aftermath of a viral video in which an independent journalist cracked open a crucial part of the alleged Somali aid scheme.

A spokesperson for Walz, a Democrat who frequently provokes President Trump’s ire, addressed a bombshell video posted by conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley.

“The governor has worked for years to crack down on fraud and ask the state legislature for more authority to take aggressive action. He has strengthened oversight — including launching investigations into these specific facilities, one of which was already closed,” the spokesperson told Fox News.

The spokesperson added that Walz has “hired an outside firm to audit payments to high-risk programs, shut down the Housing Stabilization Services program entirely, announced a new statewide program integrity director, and supported criminal prosecutions.”

In the 43-minute video published on Friday, Shirley and a Minnesotan named David travel around Minneapolis and visit multiple child care and learning sites allegedly owned by Somali immigrants.

Many were either shuttered entirely, despite signage indicating they were open, or helmed by staff who refused to participate in the video.

One of the buildings they visited displayed a misspelled sign reading “Quality Learing Center.” The “learning” center is supposed to account for at least 99 children and funneled roughly $4 million in state funds, according to the video.

Shirley appeared on Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show” Sunday evening and boasted about his findings. He joked that the alleged scheme was “so obvious” that a “kindergartner could figure out there is fraud going on.”

“Fraud is fraud, and we work too hard simply just to be paying taxes and enabling fraud to be happening,” Shirley said.

“There better be change. People are demanding it. The investigation have been launched just from that video alone. So there better be change, like I said, we work way too hard to be paying taxes and not knowing where our money’s going,” he added.

Many officials have echoed Shirley’s calls for change, with FBI Director Kash Patel even announcing that the agency surged extra personnel to investigate the resources doled out in Minnesota. He said this is one of the first steps in a far-reaching effort to “dismantle large-scale fraud schemes exploiting federal programs.”

Federal investigators say half of the $18 billion granted to Minnesota since 2018 could have been stolen by fraudulent schemes — amounting to up to $9 billion in theft.

As of Saturday evening, 86 people have been charged in relation to these fraud scams, with 59 convicted so far.

Most of those accused of fraud come from Minnesota’s Somali community.

Shirley’s mega-viral video cracked 100 million views Sunday night.

Quality ‘Learing’ daycare targeted in Minneapolis ‘fraud’ video blames designer for typo — as worker snaps at Post reporter: ‘Get the f–k out of here’

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Quality “Learing” Center Minneapolis, a purported day care flagged in a viral video designed to expose fraud, may have been bustling with kids Monday, but it is typically such a ghost town that it appeared closed, a local told The Post.

The resident called the kiddie scene at the site Monday — a few days after explosive footage called it out and suggested it was part of widespread state fraud — “highly unusual.

“We’ve never seen kids go in there until today. That parking lot is empty all the time, and I was under the impression that place is permanently closed,” the person said.

Monday’s busy parking lot and the roughly 20 kids streaming in and out as The Post staked it out was in stark contrast to the neighbor’s description and matched YouTuber Nick Shirley’s video showing what appeared to be a facility that wasn’t in use.

“You do realize there’s supposed to be 99 children here in this building, and there’s no one here?” Shirley asked the person answering the door to the site in his clip, which was posted online Friday.

BLOOMINGTON, Minnesota - Federal agents executed a search warrant Dec. 18, 2025, at Ultimate Home Health Services, a Somali-owned home care agency, as part of a widening investigation into a Minnesota Medicaid fraud scandal, according to law enforcement sources. FBI agents were seen entering the business during the raid, which is tied to an ongoing probe into alleged fraudulent billing practices involving state Medicaid funds.

No children appeared to be at the center at the time. The facility says its hours are Monday to Thursday, 2 to 10 p.m.

Ali Ibrahim, the son of the owner who said he was the manager, claimed to The Post on Monday that Shirley’s visit came before they opened for the day.

“Do you go to a coffee shop at 11 p.m. and say, ‘Hey, they’re not working?’ ” Ibrahim argued to The Post.

He also blamed a graphic designer for the site’s now-infamous typo on its sign.

“What I understand is [the owners] dealt with a graphic designer. He did it incorrectly. I guess they didn’t think it was a big issue,” said Ibrahim, 26, who claimed he helps out with homework and paperwork at the facility.

“That’s gonna be fixed,” he said of the sign.

It wasn’t immediately clear how long the misspelled exterior sign has been in place.

Ibrahim said there were about 16 kids inside the center Monday afternoon.

Shirley released his video amid a massive scandal involving Minnesota’s taxpayer-funded social services, including day cares.

The up to $9 billion alleged scam purportedly involved businesses lying about providing services for needy people to rake in millions of dollars in government funding.

Quality Learning has not been publicly named as one of the businesses suspected by the feds in their burgeoning probe.

A woman opening the center at 2 p.m. Monday said Shirley’s reporting was a lie.

“We don’t have fraud. That’s a lie,” she said, adding, “I don’t want to talk to you. I want to talk to my lawyer.”

Outside the center, another worker took out his smartphone to record a Post reporter who was asking him questions about the situation.

“Don’t f–king come to this area. Get the f–k out of here,” the employee said angrily.

ICE agents paid a visit to ABC Learning Center — around the corner from Quality “Learing” Center — Monday morning as part of the large-scale investigation into the widespread alleged fraud, which reportedly mainly involves members of the state’s Somali immigrant community.

“They wanted two months of attendance [records], we gave them two months of attendance,” Ahmed Hasan, director of ABC Learning Center, told The Post.

He said the agents said they were going to check if everything was correct.

Hasan told The Post they were “scared to open the door” when Shirley and his crew also came knocking at his center.

“That time ICE was coming for the Somali community. We were scared to open the door,” he said.

“They come with eight people. Five of them had masks. We thought they were ICE.”

He called the focus on Somali immigrant fraud “a targeted situation,” and said the allegations against his and other daycare facilities in Minneapolis were “a political game.”

Shocking unearthed video from a 2018 state fraud case shows Minnesota parents dropping their children off at a day care center and then leaving with the kids moments later — as authorities probe a rampant billion-dollar fraud scheme in Minneapolis.

In the surveillance footage, dated 2015 and obtained by Fox 9, parents are seen signing their kids into the facility so providers could bill the state for full days of care for children who didn’t actually attend.

On some days, no families would even show up at all, but the day cares would still claim reimbursements from the government, the outlet reported at the time.

I've known a lot of Somalis, befriended many.

Even the nicest ones to me have made it clear that they consider themselves "Caucasian". They look down on everybody not Somali, try to use everyone not from their specific clan, and harbor some weird type of hatred to bantus.(and by Bantus I mean any other African with noses wider than theirs).

All of the ones I know have talked about going to Minnesota to "make money" with the community. Its always been suspect to me.

A Somali-run day care in Minneapolis is claiming somebody broke in and stole “important documents,” but cops say the facility didn’t report anything was actually taken.

The alleged burglary comes as the national spotlight shines on the unfolding multibillion-dollar fraud scandal involving Minnesota human services, with particular scrutiny on day care facilities run by Somali immigrants after dozens of people from the community have been busted for pilfering state funds.

Nasrulah Mohamed, manager of Nakomis Day Care Center, told reporters that a suspect entered through the kitchen at the rear of the facility, damaging a wall and breaking into the building’s office, sometime on Tuesday.

He said the alleged prowler stole “important documentation” including children’s enrollment information, employee documentation and checkbooks.

However “no loss was reported to officers,” according to a preliminary report by the Minneapolis Police Department.

MPD noted that the center later reached out with additional information, but the updated police report was not immediately available.

Video of the purported break-in shared by Nakomis Day Care showed a hole in the wall in what appeared to be a utility closet with nearly stacked piles of cinder blocks behind the drywall.

Mohamed blamed last week’s viral video by YouTuber Nick Shirley, in which he visited nearly a dozen day care facilities looking for evidence of fraud, for the incident.

“This is devastating news, and we don’t know why this is targeting our Somali community as one video made by a specific individual made this all happen,” he said, claiming they’ve received “hateful” and “threatening” messages over the last several days.

At least $1 billion in fraud has been uncovered by authorities in Minneapolis so far, including fraudulent food, housing and child care payments, with warnings from the US Attorney’s Office that the true figure could be as high as $9 billion.

Ninety-two people have been arrested in connection with the scheme, 80 of whom are Somali immigrants.

On Tuesday night, the US Department of Health and Human Services announced it was freezing all child care payments to Minnesota — which totaled $185 million in 2025 alone — unless proof is provided that the payments are legitimate.

In response, embattled Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who has faced growing criticism for standing idly by as a billion dollars or more taxpayer funds disappeared to fraudsters on his watch, blamed the Trump administration in a social media post.

“This is Trump’s long game,” Walz wrote on X Tuesday night.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz abruptly dropped his bid for a third term on Monday, amid a growing fraud scandal in which allegedly billions of taxpayer dollars were swindled on his watch.

Democrat Walz, former Vice President Kamala Harris’ veep pick in 2024, had launched his campaign for a third term back in September. No Minnesota governor has been elected three times since the term of office was doubled to four years in the 1960s.

“In September, I announced that I would run for a historic third term as Minnesota’s Governor. And I have every confidence that, if I gave it my all, I would succeed in that effort,” Walz said in a statement.

“But as I reflected on this moment with my family and my team over the holidays, I came to the conclusion that I can’t give a political campaign my all,” he added.

US Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is viewed as top contender to jump into the race.

If she were to toss her hat in the ring, Klobuchar would join three of her Senate colleagues in running for governor: Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), and Michael Bennet (D-Col.)

Klobuchar, who was reelected in 2024, isn’t up for reelection until 2030. Senate Democrats were hoping to go on offense in the 2026 midterms, having to defend only 13 seats compared to the Republicans’ 22.

However, that has been complicated by retirements in key states, including New Hampshire, Michigan and Minnesota, where Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) is not seeking reelection. Moreover, the GOP only has a few competitive seats, such as Maine and North Carolina, to defend, giving Dems a narrow path to whittle down the Republicans’ 53 to 47-seat majority.

Attorney General Keith Ellison and Secretary of State Steve Simon are also seen as potential Democratic candidates for govenor.

Speculated GOP contenders for Minnesota’s governorship include My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell and House Speaker Lisa Demuth.

Prosecutors have charged over 90 people for fraud.

Up until his announcement on Monday, Walz had been widely seen as the frontrunner heading into November. Democrats have won statewide elections in Minnesota consistently since 2006.

In his announcement, Walz swiped at President Trump, who has railed against the welfare scandal that exploded under the outgoing governor’s watch.

“I won’t mince words here. Donald Trump and his allies – in Washington, in St. Paul, and online – want to make our state a colder, meaner place,” Walz said. “They want to poison our people against each other by attacking our neighbors.”

“We’ve got Republicans here in the legislature playing hide-and-seek with whistleblowers. We’ve got conspiracy theorist right-wing YouTubers breaking into daycare centers and demanding access to our children,” Walz went on. “We’ve got the President of the United States demonizing our Somali neighbors and wrongly confiscating childcare funding that Minnesotans rely on.”

Trump gloated over Walz’s sudden exit, alleging — without evidence — that the outgoing governor was implicated in the welfare scandal.

“I feel certain the facts will come out, and they will reveal a seriously unscrupulous, and rich, group of ‘SLIMEBALLS,’” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Governor Walz has destroyed the State of Minnesota, but others, like Governor Gavin Newscum, JB Pritzker, and Kathy Hochul, have done, in my opinion, an even more dishonest and incompetent job.”

“Good riddance,” said Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn) in response to Walz’s decision to drop out of the race.

Last year, following Harris’ defeat, Walz had begun holding town halls and other campaign events across the country, in an apparent bid to boost his national profile.

Looming over Walz’s stunning decision to drop out of the race is a growing scandal of massive fraud in the state’s generous social safety net.

Estimates vary, but the theft is thought to be at least $1 billion. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson claimed late last year that the fraud could be $9 billion or more.

The fraud was prevalent among Minnesota’s Somali population, where people set up bogus nonprofits to get state funding to provide services to the homeless, hungry and individuals in need of daycare for their children.

“NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!”

Not surprised.

He caught the Democrats/GOP off guard when he called the GOP weirdos a number of times during the 2024 POTUS campaign.

That statement motivated the Democratic Electorate and made the establishment of both parties nervous cuz it put him on top for the 2028 Democratic POTUS nomination.

A federal judge has ordered the founder of a Minnesota nonprofit at the center of a massive welfare fraud scheme to forfeit luxury property, cash and high-end goods after her conviction earlier this year.

Aimee Bock, 44, founded Feeding Our Future in 2016. Prosecutors said the organization initially operated on a relatively small scale, handling roughly $3 million to $4 million annually in federal child nutrition reimbursements. That changed dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic, when emergency rule changes reduced oversight and allowed reimbursement claims to be submitted without standard verification.

According to the Department of Justice, Feeding Our Future became the hub of a sprawling fraud operation that siphoned roughly $250 million in federal funds intended to provide meals to children from low-income families. Prosecutors said much of the money was diverted into shell companies and used for personal enrichment, including luxury purchases and real estate acquisitions, some located overseas in Kenya and the Maldives…
