Steak eaters, your opinion of Peter Luger sauce?

I heard that it was the best steak sauce on the market and finally bought into the hype a few days ago. I usually don't use steak sauce on my steaks(just steak seasoning and liquid smoke). I was shocked to find out it tastes like cocktail sauce. Anybody like this, or can recommend a good steak sauce?

I've seen them featured on food network and they said some people will spend $100-150 on lunch. For that price, that steak better make my toes curl up.

We went to Balboa's on Sunset, and the tab came to a little over 1200! It was about 8 of us back in 98 or so. Luckily, the studio heads @ Paramount Studios were paying the tab. REAL steak houses ARE NOT cheap.

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago and my girl and I went to Craft Steak at the MGM and our tab with tip was $475.

Now, that was with Wagyu beef....which was delicious by the way!

I go to PL's pretty often.........and while it's definitely not the best steak in the city, it's certainly worth the money. and......steak sauce on a well cooked steak is like putting lube on a soakin wet pussy...........overkill/might even ruin it.


IMHO, the best steak in the city can be had at The Capital Grille by Wall Street

It was damn good! Whether or not if it was worth it, depends on you. The porterhouse by itself was 58.00, and that was without the sides.

You can go to a nice steakhouse (Ruth's Chris, Flemings, Capital Grille, etc) and have a nice dinner with your girl for $100. Its the alcohol that always sends my tabs through the roof!

We weren't staying there...we were at the Wynn. And, no casino is going to comp a $475 meal unless you gamble big and I'm not a big time gambler.

Morten's or Shula's is just as good IMO. I prefer Porter House in the Time Warner Center. Town on 56th has great steak, you won't even need sauce...atmosphere is chill but pricy.
