I KNOW she thought she was making some huge statement for women.

But ummmm not so much.

Many women see her essentially as an entitled white man.

When she went at floyd for NOT inviting her to the fight? Even women were confused, since she hates him for good reason. Beadle made fun and criticized him every chance she got.

But you gotta be able to do your job the right way.

If you cut off floyd?

Then you have to cut off the Redskins for the name and the sexual abuse rumors with the cheerleaders

And the cowboys for Zeke, hardy and Jerry's anthem stance.

Mark Cuban and the sexual assault allegations on the Mavs.

Racist tweets and women abuse in baseball

I could on....

You gonna pick and choose who you cover?

Do a podcast.

Cause espn is supposedly a NEWS ORGANIZATION.
Man, she ain't slick, she was hiding behind those woman's rights 'cause she don't want to do shit. It's easier to judge on her pedestal than watch the games. She got her hustle. We see through her, though.

Again ESPN continues to kill their brand. They need a new CEO badly. Fucking idiots are pushing the wrong Mike. If they believe people are going to tune in to watch Greeny do a good morning America type show they're highly mistaken. Greeny is fucking boring but he does have talent at playing off the things Golic says or does. but Golic drives that show tho.
I hate to quote myself but.....

And then to add Michelle Beadle who everybody hates

I know this was a massive fail last year

I knew it was over when she took that super long extended vacay...

It was obvious they were auditioning replacements

Better not be another white girl...

Beadle wrong fir this one they brought her BACK when she ran to NBC and gave her prime spots all the time Sportsnation was her's. But then Cari took jacked it perfectly

Sad to see it go just when it got rejuvenated

She got a prime NBA spot then that huge contract for get up

She got millions for like less than 6 months work.

Where she gonna go?

Her head would explode on Fox.

I guess NBC?

It's not like she is horrible, but she needs a specific lane.

So she "stuck".

But with that guaranteed contract?

She gets not one bit of sympathy.

And like I said I respect her intent.

Look how ESPN tried to be slick with this Press Release.. We all focused on Beadle and Missed... How they Lowkey just Cut Get UP from Three Hours to Two Hours..

Michelle Beadle Expands NBA Role, Extends Contract

New Morning Schedule for SportsCenter, Get Up! and Golic & Wingo Starts Sept. 3

ESPN’s NBA Countdown studio show is returning to ESPN’s Los Angeles Production Center this season. The move coincides with the launch of additional NBA studio programming, including a new post-game show – NBA After The Buzzer – that will feature the NBA Countdown studio team.

NBA Countdown had originated from ESPN’s Los Angeles Production Center at L.A. LIVE since the 2011-12 season before emanating from the New York studios during the second half of last season. The Los Angeles facility is located across the street from the STAPLES Center, the home of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the LA Clippers.

As a result of the launch of NBA After The Buzzer and the NBA Countdown move, Michelle Beadle has extended her contract with ESPN and will return to Los Angeles to focus on the NBA. She will no longer serve as a host of the ESPN weekday morning show Get Up! and her last show will be Aug. 29. Beadle is entering her third season as the host of NBA Countdownalong with analysts Jalen Rose, Chauncey Billups and Paul Pierce. She will also continue to host NBA studio coverage on Christmas, and throughout the NBA Playoffs and the NBA Finals.

“We are extremely excited to launch ESPN’s first ever NBA post-game show,” said Connor Schell, ESPN executive vice president, content. “We’re doubling down on our NBA studio content at a time when the NBA is red-hot and fan interest continues to surge, and we are doing it with Michelle, as she is so important to our coverage. As the basketball world looks to L.A. with renewed interest, we’ll be right there to cover it.”

NBA After The Buzzer will air immediately after ESPN NBA game coverage, generally following regular Wednesday and Friday doubleheaders throughout the season on ESPN and the ESPN App. This season, ESPN will also launch NBA Courtside – a new, 15-minute tipoff show after NBA Countdown and prior to the game coverage – which will capture the pre-game energy and excitement from the arena.

There will also be an increased emphasis on pre- and-post-game SportsCenter segments, more closely integrated with NBA Countdown and its commentators. This will also mark the first full season that The Jump, ESPN’s daily, Los Angeles-based afternoon NBA show hosted by Rachel Nichols, will be aired in its expanded 60-minute format.

New morning schedule for SportsCenter, Get Up! & Golic & Wingo starts Sept. 3 (LOOK HOW THEY JUST SLID THIS IN)

Starting Monday, Sept. 3, SportsCenter will now air from 7-8 a.m. ET on ESPN. Get Up! will now air as a two-hour show on ESPN from 8-10 a.m. It will continue to feature Mike Greenberg as host, while Jalen Rose will remain as a co-host on days when he has no NBA Countdown responsibilities in Los Angeles. (Corporate Speak for We are Slowly going to Turn this into a Mike Greenberg lead Sportscenter) Going forward, Get Up! will also include regular hosting contributions from Maria Taylor, Laura Rutledge, Dianna Russini and Jen Lada, each of whom has guest-hosted the show since April’s launch and will continue with their other roles.

During football season, Get Up! will feature a star-studded lineup of ESPN NFL and college football commentators, with at least one of the following appearing each day: Ryan Clark, Victor Cruz, Paul Finebaum, Dan Orlovsky, Jesse Palmer, Louis Riddick, Rex Ryan, Adam Schefter, Marcus Spears, Jonathan Vilma and Damien Woody.

ESPN Radio’s Golic & Wingo simulcast will air on ESPN2 and ESPNEWS from 6-8 a.m. before continuing on ESPNEWS for the remaining two hours of the show, starting Monday, Sept. 3. SportsCenter will continue to air from 8-10 a.m. on ESPN2. (So GOLIC & WINGO just got hit with the UPgrade)

“We remain very committed to Get Up! and the show continues to provide important context, wide-ranging expertise and strong analysis and opinions, led by Mike Greenberg, Jalen Roseand a very talented, hard-working team. It remains a central part of our revamped morning lineup,” said Schell.

So maybe this was ALL according to plan even though they screwed up...

Greeny just wanted his OWN DAMN SHOW...so he could be the next Bob Costas.

Cause ALL this don't make a lick of sense

how Beadle essentially get fired but fall UP to a cushy LA NBA spot...

after they PAID her ALL THAT MONEY mainly because she was "forced" to relocate!

And this aint fair to Jalen either who already was the lowest paid just got married...how come HE DON'T GET AN EXTENSION?!?!?

salute to Rachel!!!

She CAME UP and SPEAR HEADED the JUMP...ESPN didn't think it was gonna be what it is!

SHE SHOULD GET THE EXTENSION...but nice 60 min format.

I know FOOTBALL is king..

but this MUCH MONEY being thrown at the NBA?

This is a BIG LOOK.

and good for Golic and Wingo...

I did NOT think it was gonna work as well as it has...

I wonder if they gonna regret simulcasting Stephen A Smith now...cause apparently his radio show ratings aint all that.

and @fonzerrillii you predicted the NEW hosts EXACTLY

Maria Taylor

Beadle not only got off of Get Up! but she locked in another multiple year deal. For her agreement to leave LA to move to NY she got her salary boosted to $5 million a year. Greenberg is being paid $6.5 million and Jalen Rose is at $3 million.

Beadle is back in LA and keeps the $5 million salary. Jalen chose to do Get Up! likely in part because of a pay increase and the fact that his now wife, Molly Qerim , works in Bristol.

ESPN ruined Sportsnation so they could launch Get Up! Beadle was really good on Sportsnation with Marcellus Wiley and LZ Granderson. By removing Beadle... they started messing with the chemistry of the show that was finally getting its footing back after having Max Kellerman plucked from the show to do First Take. Next, Marcellus Wiley left the show because of all of the changes and the fact the ESPN let FS1 offer him a bigger contract than they were willing to pay. Fox is paying Marcellus like $2 million a year... which ESPN could have given him. Now he will be heading Speak For Yourself with terrible ass Jason Whitlock.

He does but Colin is bowing out because he feels he already has too much on his plate. Marcellus will replace him and the show is supposed to expand from 1 hour to 2 hours in the next few weeks to a month or so. I am not sure if I will like this tandem together at all.

Watching Get Up now... and it’s basically Sportscenter in Casual. This is fucking hilarious and sad....

They got my boy Adnan on their now.

I’m still shocked that they don’t just give my boy Adnan a show before Abc Good Morning America scoops him up. Dude can give you sports, entertainment, and Pop culture. He fits that Sports Nerd dynamic that ESPN hasn’t even attempted to tap into.

Like Adnan and Coach should have had a fucking show before they decided not to renew his contract

Adnan is just ok with me but you 100% correct...

He is modern version of Greenberg

Greenberg pablo Adnan and in a weird way?

Golic jr Michael Smith Bomani got a little of that too.

ESPN could easily create a lane like that in fact that should have been the evolution of sports nation a cross section sports and entertainment podcast tv and radio versions and just switch up a team of like 6 main members.

Cover sports video games social media sneakers clothes hip hop all things touching sports.

I really really hate that pairing for Wiley, he too good for that.

To be Fair... This Trump shit has sucked us all into a Vortex

I didn't even know that it was almost September. Fucking Arrow Season 7 is right around the corner.

Damn cuz, thought it was only me.

I tell you he is a evil dumb genius

This flood the media with constant consistent crap, really works. He can do anything! The news cycles cannot keep up.

That is why as utterly ridiculous as the new espn chief sounded about no politics I kinda understand

But its impossible

And worse now

he put espn in the unenviable position of DECIDING what is and is not "political"

That is EXACTLY why you keep jemele michael bomani golic jr pablo Adnan mina lebatard...

And why I understand why will cain has a clear use.

These white folk have to see themselves on tv too. Especially when they ain't on the field. To justify their racism

But Stephen a Smith baffles me.

The cooning also has a value to your audience

but being WRONG and attacking black people who ALREADY get attacked regularly on ESPN?

I dont get it.

Cause white folks hate a coon more than Kap.

Cause they will NEVER trust him.

Good day playahaitian (Morning for me) :)

I think that's what Greenberg wanted all along, his own show.
2 co-host didn't make sense to me, that's one more person that he had on Mike & Mike.

Get Up! is my go to show when Speak for Yourself starts talking about the Cowboys, Tom Brady, Odell, Dez Bryant etc.

Good Morning my brother...

you are 100% right...

this is what I guess he always wanted

and looking back was not SHY about it

he ALWAYS wanted to be the NEXT Bob Costas

and essentially he got his wish...

and Jalen and Beadle can't complain

cause they got PAID very handsomely for all they trouble.

and Golic and Son and Wingo are thriving.

OK fine

I guess ESPN made like a new complex in NYC where they can be SELF CONTAINED and move the talent all around and makes it even EASIER to get guests and superstars and celebrities in and out.

(cause apparently that Bristol trip is hellishness.

So the grand experiment is basically over...

so NOW I got a few questions...

they wasted MILLIONS doing this

you can already tell a few of these people will NOT be at ESPN in 2 years...

and ESPN REALLY couldn't have made a spot for Michael and Jemelle in all this?

was NOT GOOD

(after investing MILLIONS and all that promotion and planning etc)

and I was impressed how Mike and Mike just kept on moving like nothing happened

for a show with THAT much history to move on without a hiccup?

after losing a LEAD voice?

well...

I think that is impressive

and in addition they made his son a legit star on that network too.

ESPN Shakes Up Its ‘Get Up’ Morning Show
By BRIAN STEINBERG

CREDIT: DAVID BUCHAN/VARIETY/REX/SHUTTER
ESPN has set a radical new game plan for “Get Up!” its ambitious attempt at a morning sports-talk show that has so far failed to gain the network a broader audience in the time slot.

The Walt Disney-owned network said co-host Michelle Beadle, one of its most colorful and distinctive personalities, would leave the program as of August 29, and move to Los Angeles to focus more intently on her other duties at ESPN as the host of its popular “NBA Countdown.” The basketball program had originated from ESPN’s Los Angeles production facilities before moving to New York to accommodate Beadle’s new morning duties as well as those of “Get Up” co-host Jalen Rose. The former NBA star is expected to continue working on “Get Up” when “he has no ‘NBA Countdown’ responsibilities in Los Angeles,” the network said.

ESPN will also cut “Get Up” to two hours from three, ceding the 7 a.m. time slot to its venerable “SportsCenter” and leaving “Get Up” host Mike Greenberg to continue with the program along with a bevy of guest contributors. Heading into football season, the program is expected to drill down on pigskin, enlisting the aid of ESPN’s top NFL and college football commentators.

“We remain very committed to ‘Get Up!’ and the show continues to provide important context, wide-ranging expertise and strong analysis and opinions, led by Mike Greenberg, Jalen Rose and a very talented, hard-working team,” said Conor Schell, the ESPN executive vice president who oversees content, in a prepared statement. “It remains a central part of our revamped morning lineup.”

Beadle likely cemented her fate earlier this week when she announced on the show that she was no longer watching football due to the way the sport treated women — just before the NFL and college-football seasons are set to begin in earnest. ESPN is also on a campaign to boost its standing with the NFL, which hasn’t made the network’s flagship “Monday Night Football” a priority in recent seasons.

ESPN has, at least so far, not been able to move up with “Get Up!” The show launched in early April and has been hard-pressed to generate an audience on par with ESPN’s grander goals for the program. “Get Up” is one of several attempts ESPN has made to spar more directly with a horde of “hot talk” programs offered on rival sports-TV outlets large and small that give the hosts free range to criticize and rant. Another effort, setting Jemele Hill and Michael Smith in a reworked 6 p.m. hour of “SportsCenter” resulted in a mismatch of anchors and format — the hosts were told after several months on air to focus more on the scores and games and not commentary — and was scotched in January.

The network has been eager to move its production beyond what it can do from its headquarters in Bristol, Conn., and “Get Up!” was the first of a series of shows designed to hold forth from a snazzy new facility in New York, just steps away from Manhattan’s South Street Seaport. The show’s three anchors tackle sports issues each day with scenes of the East River behind them, in a studio festooned with neon signs and a spiral staircase. ESPN recently announced that Stephen A. Smith would begin anchoring his popular “First Take” from New York in September.

But “Get Up” has been plagued by criticism from the start. The hosts’ chemistry has been called into question, and ESPN has seemed particularly eager to keep “Get Up” from crossing into the lifestyle and entertainment territory typically mined by “Good Morning America” and “Today.” It’s a line the network has walked in the past, after it launched an ESPN2 morning program called “Cold Pizza” that sent correspondents to the Golden Globes and political conventions. On most days, “Get Up” has failed to capture more than 300,000 viewers, making it tough to feed audiences to late-morning and early-afternoon programming.

In May, ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro said executives stood firmly behind the program but were “monitoring it daily” to chart its progress.

Maria Taylor, Laura Rutledge, Dianna Russini and Jen Lada, each of whom has worked as a guest host on “Get Up!” since its launch, will make appearances on the show and also continue with their other duties. During football season “Get Up!” will feature at least one segment with a member of ESPN’s vast pool of football analysts, including Ryan Clark, Victor Cruz, Paul Finebaum, Dan Orlovsky, Jesse Palmer, Louis Riddick, Rex Ryan, Adam Schefter, Marcus Spears, Jonathan Vilma and Damien Woody.

Michelle Beadle never really wanted to do “Get Up!” — ESPN’s morning talk show that so far has been an epic failure.

Former ESPN President John Skipper kept offering Beadle the job to team with Mike Greenberg, and Beadle kept saying no, according to sources. But Skipper continued to up the ante until, at $5 million a year, Beadle couldn’t say no anymore.

Now, five months into the show, Beadle is done at “Get Up!” The network Friday evening announced a shuffle that gives Beadle a nice NBA landing spot and a couple of more years on her deal.

The pairing of Beadle with Greenberg was one of Skipper’s final gifts during his largely regrettable tenure at the network. But anyone who knows anything about Greenberg or Beadle knew it wouldn’t work. They are too different in so many ways. They did not look like they enjoyed being on set together — and it was even less enjoyable to most viewers.

The bottom line, though, is that if Beadle and Greenberg had clicked, this would not be happening.

As it turns out, someone who plans on boycotting watching the NFL and college football — as Beadle announced Thursday she would do — really shouldn’t host a sports talk show that will pretty much be devoted to football in the fall.

Despite Skipper deciding to pay Greenberg, Beadle and former “Fab Fiver” Jalen Rose a combined $14.5 million in yearly salaries to host “Get Up!” the program was never set up properly for this time of year.

Now, Greenberg will fully pilot the show, with Rose hanging on to his seat, at this point. The program will drop from three hours to two and start later, at 8 a.m., making way for “SportsCenter” at 7.

“Get Up!” will also resemble “SportsCenter’ a little more, with Greenberg the clear leader of a program that will have more highlights and scores to go along with analysis.

On Thursday, when Beadle made her comments about not watching football in light of the tone-deafness from suspended Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, the show was at its best, driving a topic without the usual gimmicks that have helped make it a failure so far. Greenberg was the point guard.

ESPN is not replacing Beadle full time. Maria Taylor, Laura Rutledge, Dianna Russini and Jen Lada are all slated to get shots next to Greenberg and Rose.

ESPN, from the inside, is selling the move as more about Beadle moving from New York back to L.A. to amp up the network’s NBA coverage. They also say how “SportsCenter” is again gaining traction and talk up the pluses of adding another hour.

ESPN is trying to double- and triple-down on the NBA, with Beadle the lead host. With a crew of Rose, Chauncey Billups and Paul Pierce, Beadle will host a program called “After the Buzzer” following ESPN NBA games. It is a smart shoulder-programming move to keep the game audience on ESPN longer. It will be cleaner instead of trying to incorporate the NBA show into late night “SportsCenter.’’

“SportsCenter’’ is a little resurgent right now. Ratings are up across the board, earning it the 7 a.m. hour again on main ESPN instead of ESPN2. Under the new leadership of president Jimmy Pitaro, the network wants to infuse that brand instead of discarding it, as Skipper largely did.

ESPN's 'Get Up!' appears headed for another shakeup

The following is an update to the original article which was published Sept. 8.

UPDATE:

ESPN has confirmed a Sporting News report that veteran morning show producer Pete McConville is joining struggling morning show "Get Up!"

But an ESPN spokeswoman said Sunday that McConville will not replace Bill Wolff as lead producer on the weekday morning show now co-hosted by Mike Greenberg and Jalen Rose (8 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET).

Instead, McConnville will report to Wolff, who oversees the network’s opinion-based studio content and NBA pregame and halftime shows as vice president of studio production.

ESPN declined interview requests for McConnville, a well-regarded producer who worked on the former "Cold Pizza" morning show, Wolff or Connor Schell, executive vice president of content, on Sunday.

"Pete McConville is not replacing Bill Wolff on 'Get Up!,' but will join the production staff reporting to Wolff, who oversees the show in addition to many other studio programs," ESPN said in a statement to Sporting News.

ORIGINAL:

ESPN's struggling "Get Up!" morning show is poised for another shakeup. The show's lead producer, Bill Wolff, could be replaced by producer Pete McConville, sources told Sporting News.

McConville is a well-regarded veteran of ESPN's previous morning-show wars with "Cold Pizza" and the now-hit debate show "First Take." Wolff, the former executive producer of ABC's "The View," appeared on camera during the early months of "Get Up!", throwing questions at hosts Mike Greenberg, Michelle Beadle and Jalen Rose, but he hasn't been seen on the air much lately.

The revamped "Get Up!" will revolve around Greenberg, according to sources. He'll have a rotating group of talent around him, including up-and-comers Maria Taylor and Laura Rutledge and football heavy hitters Adam Schefter, Louis Riddick and Paul Finebaum.

Now that "First Take" has shifted to New York from Bristol, Conn., look for frequent appearances by Stephen A. Smith as ESPN builds up the connection between the morning shows. "First Take" with Smith, Max Kellerman and Molly Qerim follows "Get Up!" and airs from 10 a.m. to noon ET.

"This is going to be the 'Greeny Show' all the way," said one source. "It's going to be a lot more newsy and straightforward."

ESPN has recognized the original trio of Greenberg, Beadle and Rose had little chemistry, sources said. An unhappy Beadle recently left the show, torching the sport of football on her way out the door.

Beadle declared she disliked Patriots quarterback Tom Brady because he had a Donald Trump "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker three years ago. As first reported by The Big Lead, Beadle also raised eyebrows by openly stating she was boycotting pro and college football telecasts for the second consecutive year because the sport doesn't respect women or people of color. ESPN owns rights to NFL "Monday Night Football" broadcasts and to broadcasts of games involving major college football conferences.

This may be the last stand for the expensive five-month-old morning show, which often struggles to reach 300,000 viewers.

"Get Up!" already has been cut back to two hours (8-10 a.m. ET) from its original three-hour time slot (7-10 a.m. ET) on the flagship ESPN network. If "Get Up!" doesn't get going by Super Bowl 53, said sources, the show could be canceled and replaced with another "SportsCenter" edition.

"This is a bigger blunder than the ESPN phone," said one source, referring to ESPN's mobile phone initiative in 2006 that's viewed as the biggest disaster in company history.

Meanwhile, a reunion between Greenberg and former partner Mike Golic is probably off the table for now, said sources.

"They can't go back to 'Mike & Mike.' That bridge is burned," said another source. "They're on the clock. They have until Super Bowl to fix it."

Sporting News previously reported that "Get Up!" would change its cast by the start of NFL season if ratings didn't improve. As if on cue, Beadle headed out the door.

The original cast never meshed. Beadle and Rose had worked together on "NBA Countdown," but Greenberg had never worked with Beadle before.

Said a source: "You had factions before this show even started. Beadle doesn't think she's No. 2. She thinks she's No. 1."

ESPN's first choice for Greenberg's co-host, Charissa Thompson of Fox Sports, turned down the network.

ESPN Announces Michelle Beadle Is Off Get Up, Jalen Rose Has New Role
beadle-rose-get-up.png

ESPN’s Get Up has struggled to gain a major foothold, after being envisioned as a wide-ranging sports morning show. Now, the network is making major changes to the three-host set-up of Mike Greenberg, Jalen Rose, and Michelle Beadle.

Back in May, Sporting News‘ Michael McCarthy reported that changes could be coming to the lineup for football season.

This afternoon, we reported that a major personnel changes were coming to the show, with an announcement set to come tonight. ESPN made that official moments ago.

ESPN has officially announced that Michelle Beadle is off of Get Up. Jalen Rose will have a new, reduced role on the program.
Beadle will headline a new program for the Worldwide Leader titled NBA After The Buzzer. The show will broadcast from ESPN’s L.A. office and feature the current NBA Countdown crew of Beadle, Jalen, Paul Pierce and Chauncey Billups.

From ESPN’s release, which came out moments ago:

As a result of the launch of NBA After The Buzzer and the NBA Countdown move, Michelle Beadle has extended her contract with ESPN and will return to Los Angeles to focus on the NBA. She will no longer serve as a host of the ESPN weekday morning show Get Up! and her last show will be Aug. 29. Beadle is entering her third season as the host of NBA Countdown along with analysts Jalen Rose, Chauncey Billups and Paul Pierce. She will also continue to host NBA studio coverage on Christmas, and throughout the NBA Playoffs and the NBA Finals.

Rose will continue his co-hosting duties on Get Up when he’s not doing NBA Countdown. Meanwhile, ESPN announced Get Up will feature “regular” hosting contributions from Maria Taylor, Laura Rutledge, Dianna Russini and Jen Lada.

The timing is interesting, given what went down on Get Up yesterday. In response to the Urban Meyer controversy at Ohio State, Beadle declared that she will no longer be watching NFL or college football. She says that she did not watch NFL football last season either, turned off by the sport’s lack of respect or care for women.

However, with all of the moving parts here, this was likely in the works for some time.

In July, The Big Lead reported that a group of football-focused ESPN personalities could be joining the program as a “rotating cast of personalities.” Atop that list was NFL insider Adam Schefter, and SEC Network personality and radio host Paul Finebaum. ESPN revealed a bevy of football analysts who will make appearances on Get Up during the NFL and college football seasons. You can see that list here.

The NBA has made serious in-roads as a 12-month per year sport, but the NFL remains the biggest league in the country, and for ESPN. College football is right up there as well, and is huge for the network.

Will a more football-focused Get Up in the fall fare better in the ratings? That is clearly the bet that ESPN leadership has made with this move.
