Most departments have a policy to not shoot someone in the back whether it is by taser or gun. The exception here is if the perp has a gun or other weapon.

Everyone knows an officer should not shoot a fleeing suspect in the back with his gun.
But I have never heard of any policy that says they can't use a taser.
