Im transferring to the University of Alabama in the Fall of 07

while I was at my community college I didnt recieve any aide.

My parent's income is too high, im a dependent and my gpa is a 2.7

How can I get some money, besides loans ?

How did you brothers do it

Anyone know some FAFSA tricks ?

Thanks

my moms wrote a check for half of the tuition every year and i had a loan for the other half. I dont know how old you are but my last year in college my parents didnt pay for it so i got pellgrants and some other free money. but other than that unless you parents are smoking rocks and you are dirt poor with 10 other brothers and sisters George Dubya and crew aint giving you no free money for college. you can do searches for schlorships but you ahve to bust your ass for those especially since deadlines are quickly approaching. I know a lot of brothers are against this but the best place for free money is the coast guard or army airforce researves. They give you money for tuition and they give you a check every month. i have a lot of friends that did it

Well im not in shape and the Army is the last thing I plan on joining , but they do pay. My boy is doing the AFROTC

dont worry about that they will get your ass in shape real quick. Good luck in your search bruh. Loans aint that bad well now the interest rates are crazy but luckily i got out when the interest were low.

first if you are 21 stop using your parents income, you cant make over $12,000 a year on paper, & keep you gpa over 2.00.... & in 2001 if you have any drug related bullshyt it will be pending!!!! thats it.... worked for....

oh all grants are yours, get as many as you can,,, you could make $$$$$ with a high gpa...my white boy bought a truck with his grants!!!! :hmm:

send that shyt in as soon as you do your taxes, first come , first served!!!

my moms passed so I checked orphan of the ward

THATS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE IN A SINGLE PARENT HOME BEING RAISED BY A GRANDMOTHER ETC...

i can get almost full pell for as long as i am in school

also the poorer you are the more you get...so if you are on your own you should be in good shape..also check out the SEOG grant too

incorrect on the $12,000 on paper its $20,000 my buddie works in Financial Aid at a college

anyone can get student loans thought sites like sally mae or whoever your school goes through. IF you have decent credit you can take out a loan you dont have to start paying untill 6 months after you graduate or leave school and student loans have the lowest intrest rates out.

Answer all the questions and they'll send you new scholarships and grant opportunities all the time.

The thing is there are billions of $$$ out there for the taking but many of us are way to lazy to do what it takes to get it.

This white guy I knew applied for every Scholarship and grant out there even the minority ones. And he was successful over 75% of the time because as he put it;

"They have to give the money away to somebody and most of ya'll won't do what it takes to get it."

Dude went to a private school and got two degrees for free :smh: :smh:

I checked out UA's website and full tuituin for an alabama resident is $2,639.00. SEOG and Pell grant will cover tuition. With a lil extra left over to you for a refund check. Also, if you are living on campus, you may have to take out a small loan to pay for room and board for one year. If so, suck it up and do it.

The following is very important! Bust your ass in the first semester. It is somewhat easy to get over a 3.5 because you will essentially have core curriculum. Due a little research and pick the easiest classes.

This is very impotant because scholarship applications will be due shortly after grades come out. Also, this is the time of the year when you can apply to the Resident Assistant program. Use this high GPA semester as leverage to get a scholarship. Then apply to your campus' RA program.

The next year you will, more than likely, be an RA (with free room and board) and have a scholarship. The scholarship, Resident Assistant Stipend, SEOG, and Pell Grant and anything extra will add up to tuition plus a fat refund check.

Also check out the Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Program (PACT) or the Alabama Higher Education 529 Fund. If you qualify here that will be a little more money for you.

Since you're transferring from a community college, I am assuming you need 4 to 6 semesters to graduate. BE sure to intern or take summer school. If they have an Upward Bound/Excel progam at Alabama, you can do both.

Make a lot of friends, bine some hoes, make sure you make a lot of connections. Suck up to department heads, that way you will be present at every imprtant college event. Most importantly, attend every alumni function. A lot of poeple will be there who can give you a favor and write you a great recommendation.

Good Luck!
