Design wise this thing is ugly. Prefer the SGSII and GNEX. Hardware wise there is nothing really that stands out.

All that hype :smh:

I think its a good phone. But I'm more interested in some of its software elements. Not enough to make me jump forward, but still very good.

Yeah software wise there are a few new features that are pretty nice. However as you said there is nothing to make you jump forward. This phone was way overhyped.

This phone is a beast. I have the Gnex and its the same design basically besides camera. I would trade for it if the US version is the similar. I still can't see why folks are highly upset over this phone:confused:

CPU and GPU A15 + Mali T604

Everybody was expecting it in phones this year. It's almost a no-brainer that the next Nexus will be A15 architecture. The A9 32mm is top end current tech, but nerdy ass techies are craving the 28mm A15 dual cores cause they're faster and more efficient than the A9 quad cores. At least that's what I'm gathering. Also, people are really wanted a true HD display.

looks like a June release here in da US. was gonna cop da s2 since I couldn't find a valid release date on this. Glad I waited; now I could finally get rid of this battery-raping EVO

Wasn't that impressed

And why did Samsung try to design it like the iPhone?

More like late summer, August or September

Looks like I'm grabbing that new Evo in August. I was kinda hoping for something more, but it is what it is.

If Samsung wants to one-up the Iphone, they really need to hire some better designers. All the cheap plastic shit they make is getting a little tiring.

This is an easy pass. Looks like some shit that came out 4 years ago.

This phone will have more memory, a bigger battery that's removable, a bigger screen, a faster processor, take better pics, and will be less bogged down than the Evo with the memory hog and poorly coded Sense. 64 gig model + 64 gig sd card > Evo. It beat the Evo in benchmarks and browser test and Samsung actually provides the source code for their galaxies while HTC locks their phones down and make you use their own unlock model which also voids the warranty. Why would you get the Evo instead? Can't see the logic in that one and I have an evo myself.

Probably same way none of the iphone folks commented on the siri being an Android voice command knockoff to begin with.

Plus the overwhelming majority don't use that shit. The minute I see a family member walking around the house talking to their damn phone like Samuel and I'm gonna smack the shit out of em.

Because the average person doesn't care about any of the shit you just named besides the camera, and that hasn't been determined.

That HTC is no fucking joke. Too bad the software is shit.

To tell you the truth the one X wasnt that great of an upgrade either. The Evo from last year just fell so far behind Samsung that they had no choice but to make large leaps. They improved the camera software but the optics are still garbage as evidenced by the tests between the Nexus, GS2 and 4S. It actually tested the worst out of all of them in most tests, only exception being the pics at night. The screen on the one X/Evo is definitely better though but other than that it's a wash. The dual core S4 in the Evo is a beast, but has been bested by the quad core xynos in the GS3.

Samsung's problem is just that they need to get someone to design the look of the phone better. Internally they shit on HTC easily as well as with their camera optics and the pic quality. And many don't like touchwiz, but what I prefer about it i that it sticks closer to AOSP unlike sense on HTC and doesn't slow the phone down. Considering I dont buy a phone for looks and prefer functionality i'll go with the GS3 over the Evo this year. Usually im the exact opposite but not this year. Plus for those not on Sprint they'll have the shitty version of the one X that only has 16 gigs of memory, non expandable. Not acceptable in 2012 IMO.

HTC locks their bootloaders down way too much. Samsung is much easier to both root and unlock. I don't have much of a problem with Sammy. They could do better with releasing their updates to carriers. But I don't really mind TouchWhiz.

Actually yea, it has. The One X camera quality couldn't even beat out the Nexus, GS2 or the 4S. Those are LAST generation phones and Samsung actually updated their optics and their sensor. Had plenty of HTC phones to know, their camera quality is pure shit. The software they added to the burst pics and all that shit is nice to be able to brag about, until you put those pics beside some of the other smartphones and see how terrible the quality is. Hell most reviews i've seen the One X camera tested lower than the 4S, GS2 and the Nexus. HTC camera optics SUCK, they always have. And just for the record the GS2 alone pushed Samsung quite far ahead of HTC in sales so I think the average person does care just a bit lol

So the Amaze has a bad camera?

Because they put it on multiple carriers, while HTC decided to revamp their approach and not release shit.

Did you just use an iPhone argument

I don't know about the camera thing. I took pics with both cameras and the OneX IMO is superior. Nexus has better camera software I guess you can say.

eh.. i wonder if we've seen phones sort of hit a plateau.. this is the first year I've been sort of meh with the newer generation phones

I'm cool with my GS2 for now

Welp, 1 week in with my One S and zero regrets.

And FYI: Quad core = hype. Nothing will be beating this phone until we see some A15s on the market.

The truth is, if you listen to experts, benchmarks are a crock. The real test of the phone is how it performs in daily use. Samsung is touting the benchmarks but its more than that. With that said, the only phone that I would get is the New EVO. Despite sense (which I can get rid of when I root) it is a beast of a phone. The One X is garbage. The One X has already had one or two patch fixes to correct/"improve" battery life. That non removable battery and the low memory (that CAN NOT be augmented) is a deal killer to anybody who really uses their phone. That is pathetic. If the EVO LTE builds on the Amaze camera then it will be the best pick of the litter this spring/summer IMO.

PS: The kickstand is the icing on The EVO LTE.

Where have you read that the camera on the One X is worst then the others you posted, Nexus, GS2, etc? I've heard NOTHING like that. And you do know that the processor the states gets is NOT, what was shown today for the GS3, it will probably be an S4, which, I've seen no where posted, tests run that show anything about the xynos beating it out badly or the like.. Have you even tried the One X? Sense is NOTHING like in the past, the fucking phone is fast, and sense is not bogging anything down. That touchwiz shit is probably what your thinking about, because you can ask anyone that has hated on Sense and they will tell you version 4 is nothing like in the past, it's fluid and add's to ICS. Then you forgot the BIGGEST point of why you should stick away from Samsung. They update their shit to damn slow. Don't post that shit about rom's, average people don't do that. So for the average person, that is a HUGE factor. HTC has the BEST rep for releasing updates to their phones, and that's something a consumer coming from an SGS will remember. Either way, unless you buy an unlocked phone, the version of the GS3 your going to get, won't be like what was shown today.

These new phones dont give me the wow factor :dunno:

Seems like they have the same specs...8mp front, 2mp back, micro sd expandable, same sized battery...etc

Then you have htc releasing 'closed' phones...non removable battery and non expandable memory

More like late summer. They already said they were releasing in Europe first. Summer means they have until the end of September. They also left the door open for the specs to be changed for the US version, since the specifically didn't mention key things that apply to the US. If it's like the II they will have to change the processor as it's not compatible with US LTE.

The last major devices Samsung came out with have a hardware counter that tracks if the bootloader's been messed with, so they can still deny warranty if you restore everything before sending it back. Don't think that they don't aim to eventually make that counter permanent and unchangeable.
