Many of you old schoolers will remember Black News with Bill McCreary. A man ahead of his time.

The veteran New York television journalist Bill McCreary in 2009.“The news directors suddenly realized, ‘Hey, we don’t have any connections in these Black communities,’” he said of his early days. “There were less than a handful of us on television back then.”Credit...

they replace one Moorish bruh with two fuckin beckys...

you dont even see dark skin bruhs in Journalism today.....

they really want us to be invisible.. but in reality

we are the most visible most watched beings

OH MY GOD!!!

I was just thinking of McCreary a few days ago.
I was in a chat about Classic Black Hollywood and how McCreary would have Donald Bogle on his show often.
For those "Out Of The Know" about Bogle...

iu

McCreary, along with Gil Noble changed and elevated the Media Game for Black folks here in NYC.
"BLACK NEWS" and "LIKE IT IS" were Religions for US in those days.

R.I.P.

Probably is a big reason Bogle became so respected.

Gil Noble was always so serious. You knew he didn't play those games.

Noble had to deal with a lot of shit with WABC execs.
Threats of cancellation, memos to tone down his show, etc.
And sometimes it showed on camera.
But Noble wasn't bowing nor backing down for shit.

My only complaint is that he (and his family members) should have had the foresight to (digitally) archive his program.

Which is what Alex Heffner of PBS' "THE OPEN MIND" did (or rumored to have forced) with his Grandfather, Richard.
Who was that show's host for decades.

Thanks for that background fam. I didn't know he went through so much shit. His disdain definitely came across on camera. That impressed the hell out of that he didn't play those Sambo games, as others (nameless) might have done.
