I was thinking about getting one, since I know I can use a SD/FLASH CARD adapter to connect to the USB port and then use the SD/FLASH CARD. Only thing is......how do you get to a rear USB port to connect that adapter.....I mean....? How would that shit work?

I would need the adapter to appear someone so I could easily take out the SD/FLASH CARD. But that would mean bustin a hole somewhere LOL in my shit. Right?

The cheapest SD/FLASH CARD player is like $350. I dont really wanna spend that shit! I dont want a player with front USB ports either. Cuz if you stick one of these in there, then its gonna stick out like 2 inches.

Man fukk that bro they sell them with the port in the front now for under $200 from Sony and Pioneer...

Do you...I just bought the one with the front port...eventually if I got dough to burn like that...I'll replace it with a DVD screen that opens up and has the card reader behind the screen but that shit is a $1000...

might be easier and cheaper to get a head unit that can play mp3 DVD's. DVDs are 4.7 gb and less the $.50 each.

I saw one for $275 on ebay and the dude is a powerseller.

I didn't know this capability existed so whatever you get please drop a post on how it performs. This is better than Ipod Docks, MP3 CDs and DVDs and FM transmitters (which I currently use). I can just pop the SD card out of my Treo and plug it in the stereo. Plus it can do all this junk too:

# Ready for Ipod
# Front USB Memory Slot for Music File Playback (MP3/WMA)
# Front SD Memory Slot for Music File Playback (MP3/WMA)
# SIRIUS or XM satellite radio-ready (SIRIUS or XM Tuner, antenna and subscription required to receive satellite signal)
# DiAS Digital Tuner
# Time Alignment
# MP3/WMA, CD/CD-R/CD-RW Compatible with ID3/WMA Tag
# 5V Line Output Level
# Gold Plated Front and Rear Output Terminals
# Gold Plated Subwoofer Output Terminals with Level/Frequency Controls
# Gold-Plated Adjustable Line Input Terminals
# Motorized Slide-Out Faceplate
# Rotary Encoder Multi-Control
# Dot-Matrix Fluorescent Display
# 50 Watts x 4 Max(20W x 4 RMS)
# MOSFET Power Amp
# Advanced DSP
# BBE High-Definition Sound

thx people but evidently u can break a big usb drive open and get the little card out and use that. which is much smaller.

i hope i can do this LOLLO. ima have to try it on something cheap first.

or i might go for one of these: http://www.gearlog.com/images/17361.jpg

they they are high so ima see if i can just break one and get the card.

Does that one take SD cards though? Cause if you just looking for a real inexpensive one with front USB ports...I copped one from Best Buy for less than $100...as far as installing it yourself it depends on your car/model...look for tutorials on the net...I tried to do it myself but the tutorial I found was wack and I couldn't get my front panel off and didn't wanna risk breaking it...the wiring and shit woulda been easy if I could've gotten it off...

This might be something you could look into as well:
Virtual Reality Sound VR3 CD Player w/ USB and Scan Disk Inputs
Its like $80 bucks at Walmart. It takes SD and USB. I got one and use a USB powered hard drive with it.

Pros:
Bought one for the Jeep last year, love it so much bought one for the truck this year. It's great to be able to carry tunes and not worry about bumps and jarring. I can't believe that the national brands have not mimicked this radio. Sd is the way to go! Small and packs a punch. I don't use a flash drive, so while off-roading nothing can get snagged and broken. worried about the warranty? it's $79 replace it! The only con I have, is this years model is better than last years! I guess I have to buy a new one for jeep :)

Cons:
Worked great for about 3 months then the Mp3 part broke. That means the USB input and the SD input both could not play any Mp3s. I talked with the service department of the manufacturer and apparently this is a common problem so until they work out this bug I can not recommend this unit.

What do you mean by the mp3 part broke? How did it break? That is similar to the unit I bought minus the SD card input...

thx pete...i checked it out but ima go w/the jvc joint since i can afford that one. its that $350 joint that was wayyy to high.

@leroy....it takes USB. but like i said i can bust open a usb flash drive and just take out the card, so its smaller.

i looked at the best buy site....didnt see nothing cheap.

now i just need to know how to install that mfer here: http://electronics.pricegrabber.com/in-dash-cd-mp3-players/m/36158755/

since i didit buy from circuit city...ima have to do it myself. i already ordered that mfer too. should be here on the 5th.

I bought one from BOSS AUDIO

Shit was dope for about 3-4 months and stopped working. They said I need to remove it from dash and reset (bullshit)

But if you can get one that works, you will never fuck with cd's again.

I would just drag songs onto a 2 gig card and go

The technology behind this is fairly new...I hope that 3-4 months complaint I'm hearing abiut different units ain't universal...

^^^ I just bought the 4GB one for $40...shit is puny but Sony might make a killing cause they are smaller and cost less for the same space as other flash drives...I didn't mind the other shit sticking out but I take it with me for work so what sucked is you might have like 200 tracks on a drive and each time you take it out and put it back in it starts back at track 1...so I just bought a separate drive to use strictly for the ride...I'm really hoping this shit don't flake out on me in a few months like cats are saying...CDs are obsolete now and I can change/add/drop songs/albums at will...

There was a thread about this a few months ago and I recommended the one I bought from Target (in-store) for about $80 (cheaper now) in February. I installed it myself and have had no issues.

SD Card, USB, or Audio cable input.

Man why did this thread pop up AFTER I made my purchase...anyway I'm real content right now...I have access to so much tunes I spend most of the time jumping from one track to the next...shit is crazy...if I have any problems I'll pick this one up...I like the SD option as well...technology is just *sighs*
