I was watching Batmen Begins with my girl yesterday mourning and she made somewhat of a point. Know i've followed comics but as deeply as most. So maybe this is answered or not. But besides Alfred being around, did Bruce Wayne not have other family memebers? No aunts uncles, cousins? You'd think someone that rich whose parents got killed would have family flocking to him to atleast get close to the money. I've never heard anything about this him having fam before?

When the character/comic was originally written, i don't think Bob Kane nor Finger thought that deep about the character. He was orphaned. Maybe his parents were both single children whose parents were also dead when they were killed. I dunno, its not something that ever jumped out to me as strange. Good observation by your girl, but i don't think the writers wanted to get that deep.

correcting your grammar and copping these vids

true point, when mentioned it, it was when he was in the police station as a kid and i actually stopped and looked at her and said "yo u made a very valid point" then turned around and started the movie again

That's kinda the point. He lost everything and that made him who he was. Alfred is his family.

If his extended family is anything like mine, when he got that loot, he probably cut his trifling ass uncle Boo Boo and his begging ass unemployed cousins off.

yo i enver thought about that shit. they would try to find the next of kin unless the waynes cut them off and left him to alfred in the will. alfred must have gotten paid nicely though.

Yea but I couldn't bring myself to play Alfred's role, unless there were some serious fringe benefits that we didn't hear about.
What fringe benefits do you need. He was the one who inherited the Wayne Fortune until Bruce Wayne was of age. Besides that, when Wayne was disappeared, he was the sole benefactor. What else do you need? To go from Butler to multi BILLIONAIRE heir overnight, come on now.

whats wired about alfred is that he went from some secret agent to butler

i didnt know alfred was a secret agent
The Pre-Crisis comics (i.e., comics published by DC Comics between 1938 and 1986) established Alfred as a retired actor and intelligence agent who followed the deathbed wish of his dying father, Jarvis, to carry on the tradition of serving the Wayne family. To that end, Alfred introduced himself to Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson at Wayne Manor and insisted on becoming their butler. Although the pair did not want one, especially since they did not want to jeopardize their secret identities with a servant in the house, they did not have the heart to reject Alfred.

but that doesnt make sense i was under the impression that alfred was the waynes butler and that he raised bruce after his parents were killed where does that give him time to be a secret agent

he was agent sometime before becoming a butler

its the Pre-Crisis nonsense that DC ran with which split the DC Universe into many different Alternate worlds. I fucking hated when they did that shit, its get mad confusing.

Both Robins (Dick Grayson, Tim Drake) are his legally adopted sons.
He also has an illegitimate son by Talia 'al Ghul (Damian).
In "Batman R.I.P." it was implied that Alfred might actually be his biological father (via an affair w/his moms)
Otherwise, no other family to speak of.

Overnight?
Dude is damn near 84 yrs old!!!

Whats the point of being a multi-billionaire at that point?
Working and being on standby 24/7, no family/friends/personal life. But then again thats the nature of his job :smh:
so what fringe benefits would an 84 year old man need. What, would you want someone to chew your food for you?

His only family in his current incarnation is his kid by Talia (Ra's Al Ghuls Daughter and Bruce Waynes baby mama)

So if he bites it there is a little Batman

In pre-crisis Earth

Batmans daughter is The Huntress

Earth 2 Batman is the one from the 40's Earth 1 Batman is the current one.

Forget anything Pre-Crisis. That was all erased in 86.

Basically that is a different Batman than the one in books and Movies now.

The writers just recently were given permision to do storylines about those characters because of Final Crisis.

Other than that, DC didn't want aything to do with their golden age characters because their origins had been written and re-written to the point nobody knew what was true.

Ok then dump my huntress comment, in this incarnation then His kid is his only family.

The ironic thing is that Batman has the largest extended "family" in comics.
Characters that are featured mostly in Batman related comics or have personal relationships with Batman

Robin
Nightwing
Red Hood/Red Robin (Robin 2 - Jason Todd)
Damian Wayne (Batman's biological son)
Catwoman
Batgirl
Batwoman
Oracle (The first Batgirl)
Commissioner Gordon
The Huntress
The Spoiler
Alfred
Wildcat (Trianed Batman)
Zatana
Green Arrow
Black Canary
Superman
The Outsiders
The JLA
Gotham City Police Department
Azrael (Became Batman when his back was broken)
Man-Bat
Talia al Ghul

Not to mention the villians that work with him from time to time.

but all that still doesnt answer the logical question of y bruce wayne has no relatives other than his dead parents. Like there are no more waynes after him and his son.

That is a question I have asked a few times myself.
I don't recall them ever mentioning any other family.
I think that would play aginst the character of Batman.

For all intents and purposes, the movie Batmans are all separate from the comics, as are all movie adaptations of comic book characters. They're also separated by movie series.

The comics are only a guideline.
