QTip sounding off in Grammy Snub on IG

Props to Q-Tip and all icons who speak out.

I hate when real brothas speak the truth, hustling or not and buck negroes still support these CAC/White supremacy institutions :smh:

If you still watchin' Grammy's and watching NFL/College football and other
against your best interests white is right institutions you need to look in the mirror!

BTW
When the SoulTrain awards gone aire?
I hope someone you know set they DVR for last Sunday...
I want to like this, but I don't know. You seek validation in the area of your field.

Actors want Oscars or Golden Globes or Emmys or even Tony's (stage actors)

Musical artists want Grammy's

Authors want to NTY Best Seller Lists

You know you put out great shit, but it's nice to know a good majority thought that you put out great work, too. That your hard work is appreciated

It's not our fault these are established White awards. End of the day you want to be recognized in your field
Go 'head like it. I understand the internal conflict.

Here's the rub: every, single, "academy" was created under a system of white insecurity when you couldn't even get equal treatment as a human being...to even attend the muthaf*ckas.

THEM AIN'T CONTEMPORARIES!

And on top of that, we created every, single, f*ckin' music genre there is, get all of our work mashed into two, and ONE of those genres was forced into creation because Will Smith (and others) boycotted the awards.

Movies and music are much more enjoyable for everyone when we are present...we like complaining about getting f*cked, yet our oppressors have given us the blueprint time and again: deny access and deprive!
"I'll never let a statue tell me how nice I am."
:eek::itsawrap::frozen:

I’m still laughing over Kendrick crying over not getting nominated all those years ago. These negroes are always crying for acceptance. Shit’s embarrassing.

When wasn’t Kendrick nominated??

You mean Kanye?

When wasn’t Kendrick nominated??

You mean Kanye?
I’m talking about all those years ago when Macklemore won over Kendrick. Then this so called “woke” rapper did that shitty ass performance in chains. I mean really, he protested not getting nominated at the Grammys that year by performing in chains the following year? I mean WTF? Am I in the twilight zone?

If these so called “woke” artists were about it, they wouldn’t pay these awards no mind and let it die a slow death by not validating it.

But here you have Q-tip, a veteran, throwing a bitch fit over not being nominated because they performed there last year. Shit is embarrassing. These artists are so full of shit. Is it about the artistry or validation from mostly old white men who know fuck all about hip hop?

Some perspective is needed.

Just to add to my previous post, where has Macklemore been since he last won an award?

Exactly.

Common continues to rack up the accolades for his work in other avenues. Last night (Sept. 9), the Chicago luminary took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics at the Creative Arts Emmys, which are given out ahead of the annual Emmy Awards.

Common earned the award for his song, "Letter to the Free," off the score of the documentary film, 13th.

"This is really for the people that are incarcerated," he said during an Instagram acceptance speech, after thanking all those involved. "We believe and know that we can bring the love to the people that's locked up. That's what we are doing this for. This is gonna make me do more work. But hey, I'm celebrating too though."

Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins also got Emmys for their roles in the song. 13th, the award-winning documentary directed by Ava DuVernay that shows a stunning look into the United State's race and justice system issues, took home three other Emmy Awards including, Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, Writing for Nonfiction Programs and Outstanding Motion Design.

Common further expounded on his feelings after the win in the aforementioned video's caption typing,

"Although I'm honored and excited beyond belief for this award, my motivation for doing this song was from the heart like it always is. This award is for all the incarcerated people in the prison system and for justice. In the words of the late great Phife, 'I'll never let a statue tell me how nice I am...'. We have more work to do and this is only the beginning. So please don't think for 1 second that my passion for justice stops here. Thank You"

Comm beat out Chance The Rapper, who was nominated for "Saturday Night Live" from the film, Last Christmas. Other nominees included songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jimmy Kimmel Live, A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special, and the Lemonade parody from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

The Creative Arts Emmys were given out ahead of the actual Emmy Awards ceremony which takes place on Sept. 17. Now Common only needs a Tony award to obtain the famed EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards) status.

Check out Common's shiny new toy and watch him thank those involved for the win below.

50 Cent never acted bitch made like this when he wasn't winning awards. These old rappers need to man up and stop acting like bitches about these award snubs.

Drake has even mentioned that he don't give a fuck about a grammy.

@playahaitian : FUCK YEAH!!! People talk that hardcore shit, but they like the accolades that come with your artistic achievement. I once heard a guy say, "Fuck a Grammy! Fuck an MTV Award, gold record, all of that shit!" Man, fuck that! My gold record is one of my proudest achievements! I remember telling Kieth Wilder that I was still giddy after 4 years and he said, "Wood, I earned those gold and platinum records decades ago, and I still go in my den to look at them."

1st Tip is a legend and the album was GROWN. Dope 35 and up content
2nd WHY DO WE CARE!?!?! These are not his peers, don't look for recognition. WE LOVED THE ALBUM
3rd WHY are these brothers not taking care of their teeth?

SN I just found his sets on MusicCloud I believe... FIRE! Tip is a dope DJ too

Idk man, I feel a bit different about dude.
If you ever watch their documentary, lost respect for him for how he treated Phife towards the end. For anyone that saw it, would probably feel the same way.

On another note, I knew Jairobi, we went to Brooklyn Tech, he used to hang with us playing spades, never knew he was part of Tribe til we didn't see him in school no more and all of sudden saw him in a music vid one day.

It's always great to get an award but stop crying lol.

The shit works on tastes and popularity and some politics. He mentioned that they did the politics but clearly not enough. Sometimes things happen that you didn't see coming and sometimes the seemingly obvious doesn't. It's life.

I LOVE that album and shit, I forgot the shit even came out during this cycle. I thought the shit came out last year.

And like he said THEY PERFORMED LAST YEAR on an album that barely out. When you release something that close to the end of the year it gets lost by the next.

I would call it my favorite album of the year now that I'm reminded tbe shit was out lol. They should've been releasing other songs and videos all the way up to now. I didn't even hear about them being on tour. Cmon Tip. Hire a Publicist. Keep the name out there and you won't get ignored

cmon...cardi b was fucking nominated...they really intent on forcing this bitch on ppl
Oh you mean the song that went #1 in the country?

Contrary to conspiracy, songs can be paid to be exposed but they actually have to resonate with people in order to do what her song did. Give her her credit.

“He's got eleven Grammy nominations, y'all not equal
Maaaan fuck these white people!
My grandma died at 82, scrubbin' floors
And niggas still runnin' 'round beggin' for awards”

Sheeeyit 50 is always bitching about that shit lol. I guess Drake hasn't. Haven't seen it. Forgot he doesn't even get nominated

Give her credit for what?

It is a sad reality that joke-artists can more easily catch a wave than serious artists that make good music.

I'm all for people getting their money, but that is where I'm drawing the line.

I mean, 'Who Let The Dogs Out' was a hit once upon a time.

Give her credit for whatever parts she played into making the song

Someone said "they" are pushing her on people

I said the song has to RESONATE with people.

It did.

The success of a song doesn't have anything to do with if it's "good" or not or if the artist is "good". It's if people like it and request it, dance to it, sing it when it comes on, whatever. That's what happened with her song. It wasn't caused by "them", the people like it. No amount of money spent can make that happen.

If you're all for her getting her money- I didn't say you had to be anything beyond that.

And yes "who let the dogs out?" Was a hit too. Thats how it works. You make a song people like , for whatever reason, you get paid.

It's happened for Q tip before, he knows this. I like some of his songs "better" than the ones that are the biggest hits, but that's not what determines which ones are hits. It just happens

So yeah, give her credit for making something people like. That's all. She's in the lab trying to figure out how to do it again, and prolly worried she won't be able to.

People always say that these awards don't mean anything. But every year like clockwork, someone is always upset (and letting us know) about being snubbed for an award.
