Some folks just need employment to show their PO and to stay out the fucking way thanks to a prison industrial complex that was created by the same fucking people flooding this country with cheap replacements. Our politicians have created a cheap labor force made out of domestic residents thanks to the prison industrial complex.

The easiest way for a person to get back on their feet after a bid is through construction, roofing, and other manual labor jobs most folks don't want to do. Can't count how many cats I know who touched down and took shit jobs just to get their mind right and stay from going back. Yeah, I don't expect those starbucks cacs who write all this pro-illegal nonsense to understand that, but BGOL should know better.
 
I'm in the middle of a mid size construction project and I have not seen one Black guy on my site at all. I asked my builder why and he said that's just the nature of it. He hires the best subs that are available and affordable.
I put out a bid to cut about 15 trees and all the Black and White tree companies had the highest and laughable quotes. The immigrants did a great job at the lowest price. God bless them.

Many of the people who need employment in these systemically impoverished areas like ward 8 D.C. are former felons and reformed drug addicts (late twenties to early fifties). The problem is these men used up their prime years hustling/using drugs/going to prison so they don't have the skills to compete with the hispanic workers who not only have the skills/experience, but will do the work cheaper.

Then you have young brothas (16-21) who are currently hustling and aren't going to take a significant paycut to start a career in construction at the ground level.

And last but not least, some brothas do the right thing and go to school just might not want to work in construction (Some go to college, some work elsewhere, some even become entrepreneurs).

And don't get me started on the people who can't pass the drug testing.

NO. We were talking about a government project, paid for by taxpayers, in a neighborhood that has a 90% BLACK tax base which was given assurances that a certain number of the employees would be residents of that community. (theres also the issue of awarding black owned corporation and businesses these contracts).. Again, the shit you talking aint this.

Just my obligatory post to say there is no point in arguing this here as many of us are stuck on stupid when it comes to group economics, immigration etc.

The Mexican minimum wage is around $6 USD per day. You make more in a few days here than you would over the course of weeks which is why they do it. In the absence of plentiful, cheap labor a lot of these jobs would have to pay much higher wages as they did 1-2 generations back.

The commission on Civil Rights has held a number of different hearings etc. on this specific issue. This is what one of the economists had to say:

A 10 percent immigrant-induced increase in the supply side of a particular skill group is associated with a reduction in the black wage of 2.5 percent, a reduction in the black employment rate of 5.9 percentage points, and an increase in the black institutionalization rate of 1.3 percentage points

I am pretty sure he meant for black people in general. Getting contracts is not easy and its a 1000 times harder for black folk. One key element to getting contracts is networking. Then even if you get in with a company that doesn't mean you will make it pass or through the bullshit obstacles in place set up to work against you and yes our own are sometimes just as fucked up as white folk.
I got connected with a brother one time that could've directly gave me contracts that paid from 100k to 1mil. We met with him twice and had numerous calls with him, alot of them went unanswered. Well during our last meeting the mofo made it seem like he was going to give us some contracts. But instead he cut us off and we never heard from him. And this brother was in charge of the minority contracts.
 
The original tweet misconstrued the issue...easy to tell when he calls the workers Mexican...in the DMV its Salvador and Honduras mostly...everybody from here knows that....many of you are not seeing that this is a different situation...I am not with the xenophobia at all but this is something different....also, I don't know how much that particular job pays but I know dudes who have come home and made 20 bucks an hour working construction in DC on some program....decent change for a low income dude...I heard about the loophole to bypass local hiring rules in DC years ago....its not a new thing... if the establishment is ignoring them what should the people do?

If it turns out the people are not up to doing the job, that is a separate issue altogether...still got to stick to the agreement and give them the opportunity....some of those people may end up defying the negative stereotype...how would you know if they are not given the chance?

Dude, I know you're all caught up in this debate, but I really don't have an angle. I see good points on both sides. All I'm saying in terms of undercutting illegal immigrants is similar to how Walmart squeezes out Main Street. They lower prices to squeeze out the competition then bring the prices back up. It's a suggestion, may work, may not. But I wasn't asking a leading question.

Building a wall was never gonna do a damn thing and those cacs don't care about protecting jobs for Black folks. They are just trying to control the "browning" of the nation.
