Damn. They changed it. Last month when I checked there was no minimum. Only requirement was that you fund the account and make a transaction. Which could mean you could just put $20 in there buy a cheap stock and you get it. It's still a good deal except it takes a lot of people out there now since they have to come up with $500. The good thing though is that its a better rate than you would get for saving $500 in the bank. 20% ROI without any risk.

That's too bad because I will most likely sign up.

Offer limited to one $100 bonus per referring and referred customer for each unique referral resulting in an activated, funded optionsXpress account with at least $500 in new funds or securities positions valued at $500 from a bank or brokerage account outside of optionsXpress into one new referred customer optionsXpressaccount. Deposits of new funds or securities from existing optionsXpress<script language="javascript">update_date()</script> accounts are not eligible for this offer. Referred customer's new account must be opened and new funds or securities must be deposited into this account prior to April 30, 2008. This offer is not valid for optionsXpress associates, non-U.S. residents, certain referring parties, and where otherwise prohibited. New funds or securities must remain in the referred customer's new account (minus any trading losses) for a minimum of 6 months with at least one executed trade, or the credit to referred customer and referring customer may be surrendered in optionsXpress' sole discretion. Referrals that qualify for $100 bonus apply to both the referring customer and the referred, and the $100 bonus will be delivered or made available within thirty days of the referred account's first trade. Customers can not exchange the $100 for other offers, cash or credit. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend this offer program at any time without notice. IRAs, other tax-exempt, linked, or shared accounts may not be eligible to receive the $100 bonus offer.

Man this is pure BS, active trader from Canada have to pay 14.95 per trades.
Ever since I moved to Canada my trading has been problematic.
But it's better than my bank charging me 30$ per trades

Since you are an active trader. Write them and tell them you want a better rate. All brokers will negotiate with you if you are an active trader.

Also. If you have 10Gs then open and Interactive Brokers account. They have some really low rates for active traders. Your account don't have to maintain the 10Gs. You just need that to open it. I have not run into a fee there greater than $2.50 per contract yet. For options there is some additions like $0.10 each additional contract. Still amongst the cheapest. Shitty customer service. Not for newbies because there is no hand holding. They do have some training class and videos.

Got you. Just need to buy one stock over a 6 month period. Can buy even 1 share of a penny stock for that matter. Will only cost you commission at that point. Lets use $15 as a min order. You still come out good. You can buy one share of my favorite Canadian oil trust stock. PVX which is about 10 - 12/shr. They pay a 10% div so you can leave it in there and never have to worry about it.

Re: ***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***
Anyone know what site is best to get On-balance volume (OBV) and Relative Strength Indicators (RSI) in real time? Im using Scottrader and their program, but I dont think im able to do these, only moving average and volume.

Open up with Ameritrade account if you want nice charting tools. They have a great charting program called strategy desk. Scottrade is not the most friendly for charting and quotes. Rates are good though for OTC stuff.

BETTER YET if you don't want to open another brokerage account use http://quotetracker.com very freaking good charting software and you can use the real time quotes from Scottrade or whatever broker you have. Here is an example

Re: ***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***
that chart on dell looked good i was about to ask if anyone uses stockcharts pay service i would like overlays on the chart but thats not easy to find any ideas kj? or anyone else

I don't use stockcharts except mostly for showing someone something on a chart or if I am trying to learn something.

For charting stuff I can use optionsxpress, Ameritrade and IB. I get streaming real time for can use QuoteTracker with all 3 also.

If I want simple charts and level II, I can use AMTD java based stuff. If I want to put the indicators on there and I don't want to use java based as opposed to software I use optionsxpress chart or interactive brokers (futures, index and options charts). When I want to calculate an options spread I use Optionsxpress. If I want to run a software I use AMTD strategydesk (has backtesting so I can test an indicator or strategy) or Quotetracker (easy to use. Lots of features on the chart including pivots, . Both of which are owned by AMTD anyhow.

I am not sure what you mean by overlay. But if you mean placing another stock on the same chart then that can be done on the AMTD, OptionsXpress and IB charts by just putting both in symbol in the chart seperated by a space.

Re: OptionsXpress giving away $100 signup and $100 more per referral. Get this free m

OptionsXpress beats scottrade when it comes to placing even penny stock trade. I just place a trade on optionsxpress on a pinksheet stock that I couldn't do on Scottrade website. I had to call it in and they want to charge me $27 plus % of the number of shares for the stock being under $1. They said this was because they would be buying the stock on the Canadian exchange as opposed to the pink sheet that I was trying to place. I got the stock placed on the pink sheet with optionsxpress.

I was only trying to buy 200 shares. @ $30 one side commission then I have to profit more than $60 to cover commissions. Which means I need at least a $0.50 move in the stock

I have a zecco account. You need to provide email address for the member to send the invitation letter to you.

Here is what the invitation letter says:

I found this great site which I think you'll like - Zecco. It provides access to $0 online stock trades at Zecco Trading. And it's not an introductory offer -- you get up to 10 free trades/month, every month, as long as you have $2,500 minimum balance. Otherwise, it's just $4.50/trade! What's more, when you sign up for a trading account now, you get a free copy of China Shakes the World by James Kynge.

Take a look: http://friends.zecco.com/r/59670bea891c102b8555

You can also join ZeccoShare, a social network where you can check out top performers' portfolio holdings and recent trade history, and debate investing ideas.

Hope you like the $0 stock trades!
