Jesus Christ... this is my worst nightmare. I got hit with Ransomware back in 2013 and it took a minute for me to recover. Luckily none of my client files were exposed... Just a bunch of work product.

Hackers hit A-list law firm of Lady Gaga, Drake and Madonna

A law firm used by A-list stars including Rod Stewart, Lil Nas X and Robert De Niro has been hacked.

The website for Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks is down and hackers claim to have 756 gigabytes of data including contracts and personal emails.

A screenshot allegedly of a Madonna contract has been released, and the criminals are demanding payment.

The New York law firm says it has notified its clients and is working with cyber-security experts.

It's not known what sum the hackers are demanding and whether the law firm is negotiating with them.

The law firm said in a press statement: "We can confirm that we've been victimised by a cyber-attack. We have notified our clients and our staff. We have hired the world's experts who specialise in this area, and we are working around the clock to address these matters."

The company's website is displaying just a logo but historic records of the site show a client list of more than 200 high profile people and companies.

Musicians include Sir Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, The Weeknd, Madonna, U2 and Drake.

Other clients named are Andrew Lloyd Webber, Priyanka Chopra, Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, Activision, Inc, Sony Corp, LeBron James and Mike Tyson.

The hackers known as REvil or Sodinokibi previously attacked foreign exchange company Travelex with ransomware in January.

Ransomware is one of the biggest problems in cyber-security and is a malicious type of software that encrypts data until a ransom is paid, usually in untraceable crypto-currency Bitcoin.

Cyber-security company Emsisoft says the hackers have posted images online of a contract for Madonna's World Tour 2019-20 complete with signatures from an employee and concert company Live Nation.

Hackers have also uploaded an image they claim shows the stolen data directory with folders named under certain clients. Posting a sample of stolen data is often done as a way to prove a hack has happened and put pressure on a victim to pay a ransom.

"Companies in this position have no good options available to them," Brett Callow, threat analyst at Emsisoft said. "Non-payment of the demand will result in the information being published; payment will simply get them a pinky promise from criminals that the stolen data will be deleted.

"These incidents are becoming increasingly commonplace and increasingly concerning. And incidents involving law firms are even more concerning due to the sensitivity of the data they hold."

The law firm and some of the celebrities have been approached for further comment.

So where are the spicy details?

Ransomware... It's not going to get leaked unless the company doesn't pay.

Even if it does leak..

I'm not touching that bad boy with a ten foot pole unless I'm on a Triple VPN computer that I don't own and isn't on my network.. I wouldn't even touch the mega on that bad boy. That shit is going to be cancer..

I'll grab a laptop from a pawnshop use a mac address changer and jump on somebody else's WiFi. After I dump anything worth looking at to a thumbdrive.

The question is why did any of that information have to be online in the first place? does Madonna's contract, social security number, or other information have to be available to her or anyone else on a moment's notice?

People put Bitcoin in cold storage in case of a Cyber attack. Why not their personal information too?

Lady Gaga’s Legal Docs Have Leaked As Part of a Celebrity Law Firm Hack

Lady Gaga’s worries just got a lot bigger than intrepid fans and clueless stores spilling info about her new album. After unnamed hackers allegedly stole 756 gigabytes of files from celebrity law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks — which represents stars including Gaga, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and Nicki Minaj — the group leaked 2.4 gigabytes of Gaga-related material. Per Rolling Stone, it was mostly legal paperwork, including project contracts, confidentiality agreements, promotional materials, and reimbursements to Jeff Koons (whom Lady Gaga once name-dropped on “Applause”). The hackers leaked the files after the law firm declined to pay a requested $21 million ransom. “It seems that GRUBMANS doesn’t care about their clients or it was a mistake to hire a recovery company to help in the negotiations,” they wrote.
The group now requests a $42 million ransom, although a source told Rolling Stone the firm doesn’t plan to pay any money to the hackers. “We are working directly with federal law enforcement and continue to work around the clock with the world’s leading experts to address this situation,” a law firm spokesperson said. “The leaking of our clients’ documents is a despicable and illegal attack by these foreign cyberterrorists who make their living attempting to extort high-profile U.S. companies, government entities, entertainers, politicians, and others … We have been informed by the experts and the FBI that negotiating with or paying ransom to terrorists is a violation of federal criminal law. Even when enormous ransoms have been paid, the criminals often leak the documents anyway.”

Now, the hackers are threatening to leak info related to President Trump — although Rolling Stone’s firm source says Grubman never worked directly with the president. “There’s an election race going on, and we found a ton of dirty laundry,” the hackers wrote. “Mr. Trump, if you want to stay president, poke a sharp stick at the guys, otherwise you may forget this ambition forever.” The hackers previously leaked three forms related to Christina Aguilera, Madonna and Lizzo.
