The Diamond League is an athletics competition that awards prize money to athletes who compete in its various events:
Series meets
The top eight athletes in each discipline at each series meet receive prize money. The winner of each discipline receives $10,000, the runner-up receives $6,000, and the third-place finisher receives $3,500.
Final
The winner of the Diamond League Final receives $30,000, and the remaining prize money is split among the other finalists. The Diamond League Final is a two-day event that takes place in September.
Diamond Trophy
The winner of each Diamond Race receives a Diamond Trophy, which is created by Beyer, a world-renowned jeweler.
World record bonus
There is a $50,000 bonus for any world records broken during a Diamond League meet.
Wild card
The winner of the Diamond League Final receives a wild card for the World Athletics Championships.
The Diamond League includes 15 of the most prestigious one-day meetings in the sport. Athletes compete for points at 14 series meetings from April to September, and the most successful athletes in each discipline qualify for the Diamond League Final.
