New Fetty Wap Music Video Shows Strippers, Drugs, At NJ High School

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A New Jersey school district is investigating after rapper Fetty Wap recorded a music video including drug references and a dancer on a pole in his old high school.
The Paterson native released the video for “Wake Up” last week.
Paterson school district spokeswoman Terry Corallo told NJ.com the district is investigating whether procedures were followed in allowing parts of the video to be recorded at East Side High School. Fetty Wap dropped out of the school.
Corallo says the district does not endorse the content of the video, which she says was shot during non-instructional hours and did not involve students.
Wap’s latest single “Wake Up” originally dropped on April 20, the unofficial “Marijuana Day.” The song’s lyrics make several drug references, with the hook: ‘Let’s get Wiz Khalifa high and/Get meditated over medicated/Get Wiz Khalifa high and/Throw your caps in the air like you know you made it.”
Wiz Kahlifa is another rapper known for his affinity for marijuana. The Pittsburgh-based rapper released his own strand of marijuana in Colorado earlier this year.
Fetty Wap told his followers to “define your own path and celebrate life everyday,” in a post put on his Instagram the day the video dropped. Wap said in another post that the song was dedicated to the graduating class of 2016.
A spokeswoman for Fetty Wap didn’t immediately return an email seeking comment.
