Meek Mill Announces His College Plans

Call him a Degree Chaser because Meek Mill is college-bound. The Philly rapper made the shocking announcement during a visit to Overbrook High School on Friday, where Meek spoke to students about chasing dreams and getting out the hood, probably.

“You want to count on people that’s way smarter than you, he’s heard saying in a short clip posted online. “People that went to college for these things. So, I just enrolled in college myself. Shout out to everybody in here that’s going to college.”

Meek dropped out of high school when he was a high school junior, eventually earning his GED diploma several years later. No word what he’s majoring in or even what college he’ll be attending, but kudos to him. I have no shade to throw or cynical jokes to make at a man who literally wants to “do the education.”

 
Anything to motivate the youth to see college as part of a routine instead of a choice is good by me. Educated people are much harder to control.
 
If he actually does it and reaches back that would be great.
Imagine if he becomes a civic planner or involved with politics to change Philly.

He has to get away from the dudes that don't want him to advance, because that'll mean they can't be part of the using entourage anymore. It sucks to say it, but as an adult that grew up in the hood, if you have any goals or aspirations...you have to accept that cutting some of your homies loose is part of growing. Some cats just don't want you to be better.

You cannot be serious the kid with the funny name was global and had forward thinking parents around him.

I don't write people off until they write themselves off. I deal with what's in front of me and that's Meek, Bill Collector, E-Ness and Reed. Not Touchmoney, not TopKlass, not GoGettas, not Headshots, even Tone Trump has slowed down to a snail's pace. If somebody from that era decides he wants to do better, then sky's the limit because entire crews have been decimated over the course of a few year.

I have no idea who those idiots are. Dr.King wouldn't be checking for these clowns . You don't invite neighborhood folk to a high end restaurant to put their timbs literally on the table.

All he did was say he wants to go to college to some high school kids. I don't know where your mind took you, mine took me towards the positive.

Yeah I seen cats I hadn't kicked with in almost 10 years sharing posts on Facebook about jail food and taking group pics talking about"We all home now" and I'm shaking my head thankful that I wasn't around to catch any of them felonies or do time.
