Rapper Remy Ma is scheduled to go on trial July 12 for allegedly assaulting her Love & Hip Hop: New Yorkco-star, Brittney Taylor.

Ma, née Smith, is accused of whacking Taylor “in the face with a closed fist, causing bruising and swelling to [her] right eye” on the evening of April 16, at an Irving Plaza cancer charity concert. Smith faces misdemeanor assault and harassment charges, according to court documents.

A confident, poised Smith had a polished look when she arrived at Manhattan criminal court on Friday morning, sporting a white blazer and matching stilettos, as well as black pants and a coordinating Chanel purse.

At Smith’s last court appearance, her attorney conceded that she did perform at this benefit, but insisted she was with her baby at the time of this alleged assault, not at Irving Plaza.

“That is a complete impossibility because at 9:30 p.m. … she was at home nursing her 4-month-old,” Dawn Florio, Smith’s lawyer, claimed during the initial court appearance.

It was revealed during Friday’s court proceeding, however, that an updated criminal complaint put this alleged assault at 10:30 p.m.

Prosecutor Juan Maldonado said in court that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office had offered Smith a no-jail plea deal. Under this deal, Smith would plead guilty to the top charge, assault in the third degree, and complete anger management.

Smith, who didn’t enter a plea in court, rejected this deal, prompting the upcoming trial.

Florio also claimed in court that “through social media, Ms. Taylor has on the record [said] that she suffers from mental illness, bipolar depression.” Florio also said she wants prosecutors to find out whether Taylor is under “psychiatric treatment.”

2007 shooting of a friend. Florio insisted that Smith was a “perfect parolee,” but authorities now require her to sport an ankle monitor. Smith’s curfew was also cut from 11 p.m. to 8 p.m. She also has to check in with parole officials every week rather than every four months, Florio previously said.

she fucked up!

she needs to make sure she ALWAYS has a zillion remy ma people around her to physically stop her from smacking fools.
Like cardi B does. Otherwise, with remy's temper, she's doomed.

:smh: The other chick still cooperating? They should run that bitch off the net.

Court trying to get Remy with the plea. Plead guilty for no time, but I bet that would send her back to prison for a parole violation.

Damn I want to :hulksmash2: Remy.

So they cancelled State of the Culture... What's up?

Just read Scottie Beam is leaving...

I mean damn did any of y'all read the shit?

She didn't take the plea and according to Remy she wasn't even there.
She didn't take the plea because like Gene Cisco said the deal didn't come with a guarantee that she won't go back to prison on a parole violation. She has no choice but to fight it.

'L&HH' Star Brittney Taylor Arrested for Assaulting Woman

Breaking News

3:46 PM PT -- Brittney's attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, tells TMZ ... " This does not in any way change the facts of the assault for which Remy ma is being prosecuted by the NY DA."

Brittney Taylor, who claims Remy Ma attacked her, is now in hot water herself for allegedly dishing out a beating during a brawl that covered 35 floors of her Manhattan luxury apartment ... TMZ has learned.

The "Love & Hip Hop" star got arrested early Friday morning after a fight started in her apartment. Law enforcement sources tell us Brittney and another woman were arguing in Brittney's midtown pad when things got physical.

Brittney allegedly scratched the woman, leaving marks on her. She fled to an elevator, but we're told Brittney hopped in another elevator and met the alleged victim in the lobby ... where the beatdown continued. She allegedly pulled a Naomi Campbell special -- hurling her cell phone and clocking the woman in the forehead.

We're told Brittney retreated to her apartment, but a little while later NYPD showed up to haul her in for assault and aggravated harassment ... both misdemeanors.

She was released without bail.

The arrest is kinda ironic. Remy Ma is currently facing the same exact charges for an allegedly punching Brittney back in April during a concert.

Brittney's attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, tells us his client has a court date next month to face the charges.

The assault case against Remy Ma was thrown out on Monday. Manhattan prosecutors had asked for the judge to dismiss the misdemeanor charges that alleged that she hit her Love & Hip Hop: New York co-star Brittney Taylor — explaining that “we cannot prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The judge agreed to dismiss and seal her case following a brief court proceeding.

“I’m happy I don’t have to come down here anymore,” commented Ma, whose legal surname is Smith, after the dismissal.

She then joked with the reporters and photographers who had followed every development of her legal drama, saying, “I’m gonna miss you guys.”

The glamorous performer, whose yellow-and-pink fur coat gave her a bright aura in the dim courthouse, was upbeat as she left the courthouse.
Onlookers were quick to tell Smith they loved her and compliment her appearance.

One woman scrambled to leave the security line, moving away from the metal detectors to try to snap a photo of Ma.
Outside, a woman shouted from a car, “You look so beautiful!”

Smith was arrested in May. Prosecutors had claimed that she whacked Taylor “in the face with a closed fist, causing bruising and swelling to her right eye” at an Irving Plaza cancer benefit concert on April 16.

Smith denied the allegations from the get-go, and Taylor had her own legal troubles this summer.

Taylor was accused of scratching the neck of Dina Khalil, who was a witness in the purported nightclub incident, according to the New York Post. Taylor ultimately accepted a dismissal deal; under this agreement, the clawing-related misdemeanor charges would get tossed if she stayed out of trouble.

In requesting a dismissal of Smith’s case, Assistant District Attorney Juan Maldonado said that “after a thorough, monthslong investigation, the people are moving to dismiss this case … as we cannot prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Prosecutors spoke with “numerous witnesses,” including people affiliated with Smith, Taylor, and “an unaffiliated, impartial eyewitness,” he said.
“This unaffiliated witness remembers seeing the defendant the entire time the defendant was in the greenroom at Irving Plaza, where the assault purportedly occurred,” Maldonado said. “This eyewitness never saw the defendant and the complainant interact in the time she observed the defendant.”

And the eyewitness who was going to back Taylor “is no longer cooperative,” Maldonado said, adding that there isn’t surveillance video inside the venue’s greenroom.

“For these reasons the people are moving to dismiss, as we cannot prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt,” he said.
Asked for comment, Taylor’s lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, said, “I have no comment until after I meet with my client with regard to this recent development.”

“I wish they would have come to that conclusion before I had an ankle bracelet and lost months and months of wages and had a curfew … and before I paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to a lawyer,” Smith said outside the courthouse.
