MSNBC Benches DR. Jason Johnson Who Smeared Bernie Sanders Staffers on the Karen Hunter show

Following MSNBC contributor Dr. Jason Johnson’s inflammatory remarks about supporters and campaign staffers of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the academic has been temporarily benched by the network, sources confirmed to The Daily Beast.

In recent months, Johnson—a regular fixture of the network’s Democratic primary analysis—has drawn considerable heat for his relentlessly anti-Sanders commentary on MSNBC, which has also come under fire from the left for its skeptical and largely negative coverage of the democratic-socialist senator.

During an interview last week on SiriusXM’s The Karen Hunter Show, Johnson claimed “racist white liberals” support Sanders and that the senator has done “nothing for intersectionality.”

The MSNBC contributor then took aim at the women of color who work for Sanders. “I don’t care how many people from the island of misfit black girls you throw out there to defend you,” Johnson exclaimed.

The remark prompted Sanders’ national press secretary Briahna Joy Gray to retort on Twitter: “I hope we can have political disputes without engaging in open racism and sexism. This misogynoir is disappointing, but not surprising from @DrJasonJohnson.”

Johnson’s over-the-top remarks also sparked wider calls for MSNBC to fire him, but the network has not officially responded.

Johnson’s temporary shelving included him not being involved in coverage of last weekend’s Nevada caucuses or the post-game coverage of Tuesday evening’s South Carolina debate, which aired on CBS. In an email to media outlets hyping its post-debate plans, Johnson’s name was nowhere to be found.

The punishment appears to have also cost Johnson his chance to be on-air during the network’s coverage of this past Saturday’s Nevada caucuses, which Sanders won in a landslide.

Johnson’s absence has been noticeable, as he has become a staple of MSNBC’s Democratic primary analysis roster. Prior to his benching, he made nearly 40 appearances on the network in 2020 alone.

Besides being regularly featured on high-profile programs like Morning Joe, Deadline: White House, The Beat with Ari Melber, and The 11th Hour, MSNBC turned to him to provide analysis during last month’s impeachment trial, the early-state primary votes, and several Democratic primary debates.

In fact, during last week’s Nevada debate, Johnson was a fixture on the network’s panels, beginning the day with an appearance on Morning Joe and staying on through MSNBC’s post-debate analysis, which didn’t wrap until after midnight.

His most recent MSNBC appearance came during the Feb. 21 broadcast of The Last Word, which aired hours before his fateful radio interview that resulted in his benching.

MSNBC declined to comment for this story.

It wasn't the "Misfits" part that got him... it was the "Racist White Liberals"....

He must forgot where he works... the so called home of the Democrat establishment...

MSNBC purged the network of all black faces expect for Joy Ann Reid and Rev Al after the Obama era then went Center left for Trump...

Funny Karen Hunter try to protect him and take down the clip...

She even brought one of the "misfits" on the smooth things over... Lol

Extremely intelligent man, with a much needed voice. Dude got too lose with the mic on though. Suspension though :dunno::dunno:

Gotta say though, it's foul for a Black man, to take aim at Black women to make a point on a white candidate. We as Black people don't have to be the same type of person, within the confines of our overall culture. Take shots at Sanders if you want, but dumping on the Black women was/is BULLSHIT.

Johnson who claims that his PhD expertise is in ‘political science’ perpetually demonstrates his dramatic paucity of knowledge in basic America history much less ‘political science’.

If he had even a cursory knowledge of what the history and politics of the FDR presidency — (FDR) Franklin Delano Roosevelt presidency, the 32nd president of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945 — he would know that what Bernie Sanders is proposing for the U.S. in 2020 is just a reiteration of what the Roosevelt administration was proposing in the 1940’s. It is not communism.

Just as we are seeing today the business and professional elites are committed to destroy any policies that benefit the 99% percent.

Everything that we take for granted in today’s 2020 world was opposed by the the business and professional elites in the 1930’s with shrill vituperative rancor even including a plot to forcibly remove President FDR and replace him with a military general — a coup d'état.

What were the the business and professional elites opposed to with such hatred that they were willing to engage in an illegal forcible coup d'état, nullifying the presidential elections of 1932, 1936, 1940, 1944.

They were opposed to the ENTIRE FDR accomplishments; the entire “New Deal”

After the capitalists completely crashed the economy in the late 1920's causing the great depression. President FDR basically told the capitalists that unchecked greed was not good. There was NO demand for their products because people had NOOOOOO money; Unemployment was 25%!!! He instituted minimum wage laws, abolished child labor, established unemployment insurance, social security, workers compensation et al. The capitalist were so angry at FDR for regulating their so called "free market system" that they planned a coup d'etat to remove FDR from office and replace him with Marine General Smedley Butler. FDR survived the attempted coup d'etat and the capitalists thrived after World War 2. As U.S. capitalism productivity increased worker pay increased; workers got a larger piece of a expanding pie. This continued until RayGun & the republiklans took power in 1980. They waged a war on workers and regulations that protected workers. Unbridled Greed was good again. The link between corporate productivity and wages was broken. The paramount aim of the capitalists was to pay the workers (labor) as little as possible even as corporate profits reached an all time high. Its a global race to the bottom. Apple cell phones and a myriad of other products are made in China by workers living in Army style barracks on site working 12 hour shifts 6 days a week for $300. dollars a month. Apple workers have jumped through the factory windows to their deaths psychologically zonked out from the work drudgery. Capitalists zeal to pay labor as little as possible is a worldwide phenomenon, read: Globalization and the Demolition of Society by Dennis Loo. In the U.S. we are swiftly heading toward neo-fascism. Only a massive Democratic party sweep in the 2018 mid-term elections can stop it. Trump's role model is Adolph Hitler

johnson's issue with sanders are well beyond this copied and pasted post. as a matter of fact the issues raised here have little to do with johnson's issue with sanders. johnson supports many of these issues.

bernie sanders is problematic for many reasons beyond what is posted here. i have no dog in this primary race. i will vote for whomever becomes the nominee. but there is a reason that russian intelligence is supporting bernie sanders.

sidenote: and if sanders was smart he would have branded his movement as a FDR democrat verses democratic socialist for obvious reasons.

sidenote 2: people are really demonstrating that they don't know what they are discussing in this thread. they have no clue who johnson is, what he does and what views he represents.

Bald-headed bitch-ass nigga got his wake-up call. I remember when he shitted on ADOS.
i am not getting into this shit today. with that said malcom x shitted on ados too.

you gonna call malcolm x a coon?

The OAAU extended the OAU’s principles to Black descendants of slaves in the Western Hemisphere and sought to unite African Americans and Africans in the fight against White supremacy. The organization’s charter envisioned this collective action via five principles of unity: restoration of connections between Africans and the diaspora, reorientation of African-Americans’ identity from racist America to Africa, education against racist indoctrination, economic security within Black communities and self-defense against White supremacist violence. Malcolm elaborated on this last principle in his speech announcing the OAAU’s creation:

The purpose of our Organization of Afro-American Unity, which has the same aim and objective [as the OAU] to fight whoever gets in our way, to bring about the complete independence of people of African descent here in the Western Hemisphere and, first, in the United States. And bring about the freedom of these people by any means necessary.

I can't stand Nina Turner. She was on MSNBC talking about the Bernie Bros were no worse than the Obama Boys. Who the hell ever heard of the Obama Boys? No one was trying to force folks to vote for Obama. People were excited for hope and change and uniting folks. Nina is full of shit.

Malcolm X didn’t shit on ADOS. Everything he did was in support of ADOS people.

But the African nations damn sure shitted him and us:

Passages in Malcolm's memorandum indicated that he had encountered resistance to his idea.
“Some African leaders at this conference,” he said in his memorandum, “have implied that they have enough problems here on the mother continent without adding the Afro‐American problem.
...........
“We pray that our African brothers have not freed themselves of European colonialism only to be overcome and held in check by American dollarism. Don't let American racism be ’legalized’ by American dollarism.”
Malcolm argued that “if South African racism is not a domestic issue, then American racism also is not a domestic issue.”

But as you said, let’s not get into this shit and derail the thread. Everything that needs to be said has been said at this point.

I was/am pulling for Biden but come November, I'm voting for the Democratic nominee, regardless of who it is.

That said, for cats that are so anti-Sanders, who are you supporting?

I rarely see support for Biden, Warren, Buttigieg or Klobuchar. Hell, none for Bloomberg or Steyer.

Will you stay home if Sanders is the nominee or will you vote for Chump?
