Watched The Voyeurs and Queenpins recently.

Some nice assorted titties in The Voyeurs. Liked the way it was shot. The simplicity of shooting directly across from one building to another. Or panning down a floor or two to show people up to other mundane tasks. Held our interest throughout.

Queenpins was so-so. Wasn't really feeling the "cute comedy" vibe they were going for. Felt it would have worked better as a more serious drama given the fraud taking place. The chemistry was good with the 2 co-leads. Paul Walter Hauser was fun to watch as the loss prevention officer. His seriousness mixed in with the comedic scenes worked well. There's a few comedic actors from other series (Community, Barry, 30 Rock) who should have been used more. Felt like other movies such as I, Tonya and I Care A Lot from recent years worked better blending "comedy" into serious topics.

I've been on an animals fucking up humans kick lately. This movie here, Rogue from 2007 was very well done. One of the most realistic looking and acting crocodiles and movies of their genre

For coming out in 2007, the CGI was pretty good on the crocodile. Worth the watch. Funny how so many white people are willing to risk their lives over fucking dogs

We checked out Old Henry yesterday. Enjoyed it. Clocks in at just over an hour & a half. Solid performances from Tim Blake Nelson and Stephen Dorff, as always. Story is straight-forward and easy to follow. Good amount of tension and suspense. Recommend this smaller budget western. Liked the hints / feel of No Country for Old Men at times too.

This prequel to the Netflix film “Army of the Dead” actually turned out pretty good and is interesting.

It fits in perfectly with the first movie. The zombie apocalypse is officially introduced but no information on what it’s origin is. It plays out periodically in the movie but is not a central part of it.

If you are familiar with and enjoyed the George Clooney “Oceans Eleven” films, this film plays out similarly with its humor.

The film follows a steady pace from start to finish to keep you interested. There really is no slow parts in it.

SFX and fight scenes are well done and realistic.

For the Thirsty, actress Nathalie Emmanuel, she defys logic on how good looking she is in this film. You will be glued to the screen in every scene she is in. You will be familiar with her from “Game of Thrones” and the recent “Fast and Furious” films. Every scene she is in she sports different hairstyles and each one is on point. She is completely covered up thru-out the movie, but every outfit she is in she looks like a perfect 10.

Her co-star Ruby O’Fee is a cutie herself.

For the militants, there is some interracial sexual tension between Natalie and the main character Dieter. All that is shown is them having a quick kiss on the lips. Also Natalie is in a relationship with the White dude who looks like Hugh Jackman “Logan” character.

Other actors thru-out the film are well recognizable if you are a frequent watcher of European movies and TV shows. They all do their roles well.

The film is in English, but Netflix has subtitles which is used frequently when certain characters speak their native tongue in the country they are in.

Good movie to watch to keep you entertained.

Synopsis

In this prequel to "Army of the Dead," a mysterious woman recruits bank teller Dieter to assist in a heist of impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

The harder they fall

No, not that one. The 1956 movie with Humphrey Bogart, the last film he did before he died. He was dying of cancer while filming this movie and if you look at him you couldn't tell. He soldiered through this role and I have no idea how he did it. Pretty good movie

How do you film a roll while you're dying of esophageal cancer and look healthy while you're doing it?

Besides that, how many fighters throughout history were made up like Toro? Curious for the boxing fans out there

Screenshot-20211101-012859-IMDb.jpg

Humphrey Bogart Filmed ‘The Harder They Fall’ While Quietly Dying of Cancer
Sometimes when actors make their final movies, they sense that it is their final movie and they go out on a rousing note. One could argue that was true of classic Hollywood actor James Cagney, who came out of retirement to shoot a small but memorable role in the 1981 film Ragtime.
The final days played out differently for his colleague Humphrey Bogart, who knew he was dying when he made his final movie, a boxing drama called The Harder They Fall in 1956. Bogart died only a few months after it came out.

LAMB

Narnia in 2021?

PRAISE: I've watched a lot of memorabily strange movies over the years and LAMB is right up there with them. The story is about , a childless couple who discover a strange and unnatural newborn in their sheep barn. They decide to raise her as their own, but sinister forces are determined to return the creature to the wilderness that birthed her. Hats off to all of the actors including Noomi Rapace,Hilmir Snær Guðnason ,Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson
to attacking their roles with enthusiasm and believability.
I was drawn in by the way the story plays out because I was hoping for answers. I did laugh but in a good way because there were reactions I was expecting from the characters especially when one character leaned to the way I was thinking. Trying to figure out how everything came about in the film was fun for me. The film is beautifully shot.I was charmed by the little lamb.

PROBLEMS: I was never scared by what happened in this horror labeled movie I was more like WTF ?!?
The pacing is like counting sheep. This is another movie with to many dwelling moments. The SFX were a bit off in a couple of scenes. Even though I read a couple of semi explanatory statements from the actors and directors about the film and accepted it as a modern day fable the film was to ambiguous for me.

Army of Thieves

Theft of my time

PRAISE: In this prequel to Army of the Dead a mysterious woman recruits bank teller Dieter to assist in a heist of impossible-to-crack safes across Europe
I found myself rooting for Dieter portrayed by Matthias Schweighöfer,
i wanted him to succeed and be respected.
I thought Nathalie Emmanuel as Gwendoline (lovely as ever !!)did quite well in her role and Ruby O. Fee as Korina adds some nice touches of personality to her character
There are some slick visuals and heists.
There are mentions of the ever growing zombie apocalypse and its worked in well in a couple of scenes.

PROBLEMS: I got very bored in the middle of this. Even with all of its slickness it can't quite outmaneuvere its predictable and repetitive obstacles. A couple of characters were so cookie cutter that all it took was a couple of lines and looks and I knew exactly what they were going to do .I believe they were going with humor with a certain character and where this person kept ending up but it didn't work because it kept happening. This has been pulled off in far better films because the situation happens and it's one and done. But not this time.

Thanks for the update. It's interesting - though it was tough to be fully engaged in it as a comedy, given the seriousness of it all.

Hell - it all seemed too easy. The ending seemed far-fetched / improbable too.

This is a new flick that just debuted on Netflix this week. It is a Vampire/Thriller flick that plays out better than I expected.

The movie focus' on a female vampire stuck on a plane with hijackers with her son. The first 6 minutes of the film starts out showing the end, from there for the next 20 minutes its a slow burn. After that it picks up in pace and the chick goes into full vampire mode around the 55 min mark. The movie continues on a good fast pace from there being it is entirely on a airplane. The movie amps up big time in the last 15 minutes. Thru-out the movie there are quick scenes giving the origin of the vampire.

It is a 2 hour movie that is done well, whoever produced and directed it did there homework on from prior films like this and knew what not to do and not to copy and it shows. It does kind of copy a famous scene from the original "Night of The Living Dead" dealing with racism at the start and the end that I noticed.

For the gay agenda trackers, there is a gay male flight attendant, but it does not play out like you think and he turns out to be one of the best characters of the film.

They somewhat left it off for a sequel.

The film is from Germany and Netflix has it dubbed in English. The English speaking characters speak their roles in English.

Synopsis

When a group of terrorists hijacks an overnight transatlantic flight, a mysteriously ill woman must unleash a monstrous secret to protect her young son.

I UNDERSTAND completely a lot of true life stories are presented as comedies but when things go dark i feel a totally different way
Im drawn to the story because i remember being sent freebie coupons but never sold them or photocopied them in bulk and sold them.

I hear you. It was a comedy - just not that funny given the gravity of the story.

I personally was big into the savings / deals from about 2007 - 2017. Lots more promos and sweepstakes. Won thousands in cash, thousands in giftcards and shitloads of books, movies & concert / movie tix. The giftcards were great - restaurants, clothes, electronics, etc. Gave some gcs away as holiday and bday gifts for friends and fam too.

Steven Soderbergh does it again. This man has one hell of a way of playing the shell game with plot points

No sudden move. I can't wait to see 2hat @joneblaze Has to say about this one I give it a good 7.5-8

Great cast, great acting

I thought it had a great start and of course the acting was top notch.I liked the calmness of the outcome and kind of laughed and said wow was so this was all the fuss about It slows down and meanders here and there i guess SS was experimenting with new visuals or something which took me out of the film at times.

I GIVE IT A 7½

We checked it out yesterday and really enjoyed. Lots of tension and great cast.

Also watched the 1st hour of Wrath of Man thus far. Statham’s always good in these roles. Good to also see Josh Hartnett in this one. Haven’t seen one of his movies since I can’t remember when. It had been ages!

Happened across this one recently when Shudder had a 1-week free preview of their streaming service with our provider. Jotted the title down as I didn't check it out then - have watched the 1st hour so far. Pretty good. Things properly go to shit about 30 mins in, so there's plenty of time for the movie to play out afterward. A few "yeah right" moments here and there, but overall good tension.

Yellowstone fans will recognize Kelly Reilly ("Beth Dutton") in one of her earlier roles.

Eden Lake is a 2008 British slasher film written and directed by James Watkins and starring Kelly Reilly, Michael Fassbender and Jack O'Connell.[5][6]

The film was nominated for the Empire Award for Best British Film. It is among a group of roughly contemporaneous films that deal with concerns over "Broken Britain" and a fear of "hoodies". Some of the close up scenes were filmed at Frensham Small Pond.[7]

Nursery school teacher Jenny Greengrass and her boyfriend Steve Taylor journey to a remote lake in the wooded English countryside. Hiking to the lakeside, they meet Adam, a young boy gathering insects. Relaxing beside the lake, the setting is disrupted by a group of delinquent teenagers ...

I thought it started out poorly. About 45 minutes to an hour in I was bored and I was thinking this seems like a DC movie. The pacing was very shaky with too many unnecessary scenes. It improved as the flashbacks decreased. The action was ok, but it was repetitive and more like round one, round two, round three... The movie wasn't that funny to me, it tried, but it was more light chuckles.

Visually it was nice, because it did "fast" a whole hell of a lot better than DC and Fox did with Fantastic Four have.

It was cool, it was somewhere in the middle.

I thoroughly enjoyed Needle in a Timestack and seeing black people in a different space than we're used to. A different type of movie genre. It was creative.

I downloaded this movie a few weeks ago and today I am buying it off Amazon. I try not to cheat black movies. We get cheated enough as is

Before the pandemic, I used to go to the movie all the time. With the black movies, especially the ones that I heard were not good, I would buy a ticket and walk away. There was some Omar Epps movie I bought a ticket from her and just walked away because I heard the reviews were bad

But I try to always support Black movies and today I rented the movie off Amazon to give support

The Harder They Fall

A Winning Wild West story

PRAISE: In Director Jeymes Samuel and Writer Boaz Yakin's story about an outlaw discovering his enemy is being released from prison, so he reunites his gang to seek revenge, their love for legendary black cowboys shines through. It's very stylish with a Quentin Tarantino like feel the stars of the film shine that include : Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Regina King, Delroy Lindo, Lakeith Stanfield, RJ Cyler, Danielle Deadwyler, and Edi Gathegi.
As the salty lines from the script leapt from their mouths with a smoothness and intensity I found myself smiling as it is coupled with great presence and swagger. The action sequences are done well and are relentlessly intense. Some of the brutality may not be for the faint of heart.
There are great nods to some Hollywood icons that have sadly passed away. The atmosphere of the film is absolutely terrific from its opening to closing shots which made me recall several great westerns. This is definitely a fun, suspenseful and intense ride.

PROBLEMS: Some dwelling moments could have been shaved off the films over 2 hour running time. The script could have been a bit tighter

I hope the story continues and is linked more to how things played out for the people in the film in real life.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 9

Eternals

New but unchanging story

PRAISE: I remember finding and reading Eternals comics with the interesting banner When Gods Walk Among Us drawn by the great Jack Kirby.
I followed their adventures for a bit but years later Sersi and Starfox/Eros were the only ones I would see in the comics regularly. I was so curious to see how much of The Eternals history would be put into the film because it's quite extensive. The film is able to sum up some of the history in various ways but of course there were alterations.
The cast including: Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie do a fine job each given time to shine with wit, dramatic and action packed moments. There is a great flow of chemistry between the characters.
The SFX and action sequences are nearly flawless .It definitely brought back memories of Kirbys splash pages in comics. The Celestials are displayed in a grand way. The most effective story thread to me was The Eternals involvement and non involvement in human history.
The two end credit scenes were fun an interesting.

PROBLEMS: By altering certain things and attempting to explain away why The Eternals didn't help take on Thanos the film opens itself up to plot holes. Especially when I watched what happens in this film.
One thread is been there done that and I just thought it was kind of weak. As it played out I kept saying they couldn't come up with something different? You have such a huge history to play with use it !!
I actually think they borrowed part of it from a film and book that is referenced in the movie. I understand the diversity and love it but these beings are supposed to be perfect but you gave them impairments?

Not a complete stumble but this could have been far better.
