Amazon Studios is in final negotiations to buy worldwide rights to “Without Remorse” from Paramount Pictures, Variety has learned.
The Tom Clancy thriller stars Michael B. Jordan as U.S. Navy SEAL John Clark. If it closes, the pact makes sense for Amazon, which backs “Jack Ryan,” the espionage series starring John Krasinski as the titular CIA analyst. It would also give the streaming service a major action-adventure with one of the hottest stars in the business. It may be a sign of the more commercial and broadly appealing direction that Amazon hopes to go in the future after a period of making more arthouse fare. The film is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime.
“Without Remorse” is directed by Stefano Sollima, who previously collaborated with Amazon on the drug trafficking series “ZeroZeroZero.” It co-stars Jamie Bell, Jodie Turner-Smith and Luke Mitchell. Taylor Sheridan of “Hell or High Water” and “Sicario” fame wrote the script, with Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”) penning the most recent draft.

Clark is one of Clancy’s most beloved characters, having been previously played by the likes of Willem Dafoe (“Clear and Present Danger”) and Liev Schreiber (“The Sum of All Fears”). “Without Remorse” follows him as he tries to exact vengeance for his wife’s murder.
With most domestic theaters closed due to the spread of COVID-19, Paramount has sold some of its titles to streaming services. It has previously moved the likes of Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “The Lovebirds” to Netflix.
“Without Remorse’s” producers include Jordan, Goldsman, Josh Appelbaum, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and André Nemec. Skydance Media co-financed the picture.
Amazon and Paramount could not be reached for comment.

AMZN has more cash on hand than ever. They stopped the funny accounting & are putting that cash in play. LA is buzzing & NFLX is going to need another bond offering to keep up.

Michael B. Jordan is bringing his latest blockbuster from the big screen to a big streamer.
Amazon announced Monday the Black Panther star's latest leading vehicle Without Remorse — the origin story of action hero John Clark, one of the most prominent characters in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan universe — will premiere on its Prime Video service beginning April 30 as part of an overall expansion of Jordan's production deal with the company.
As part of the agreement, Jordan's Outlier Society banner will have an exclusive overall relationship with Amazon for TV projects, as well as a first-look film deal. The goal of the partnership is to "produce and acquire elevated films showcasing diverse, bold filmmakers and talent" for the studio's slate of originals, per a press release. It will also see Jordan working on fashion, Audible, music, and more with the company, including his collaboration with Amazon on its Alexa Super Bowl ad that aired Sunday during the game.

The release of Without Remorse will launch the new deal. The Stefano Sollima-directed film follows Jordan (who also produced the picture) as an elite Navy SEAL who uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the death of his pregnant wife at the hands of a squad of Russian soldiers. His road to vengeance sees Clark join forces with a fellow SEAL (Jodie Turner-Smith) and a mysterious CIA agent (Jamie Bell) in a plot that threatens to pit the United States and Russia against each other in an all-out war.

"Bringing Outlier Society's slate of film, television and multi-media content all under the same roof is an exciting next chapter for us," added Jordan. "Amazon's global and expansive reach offers us the ability to entertain and engage our audience in innovative ways, while maintaining our commitment to supporting a wide range of stories and storytellers. I'm thrilled to be kicking off the partnership with Without Remorse this Spring."

The film was originally slated to premiere theatrically via Paramount, though the studio ultimately negotiated a streaming deal with Amazon in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. It joins Amazon as the streamer's latest major project tied to the Tom Clancy brand, as John Krasinski has fronted two seasons of the company's Jack Ryan television series since 2018.

I really enjoyed it! It felt like a throwback action movie! If you think too hard, you will see the plot holes.

I plan to watch it again.

The first few minutes were good too until I answered the phone.
Her: Whatcha doing?
My dumb ass: just logged off and starting No Remorse
Her: Sad angry tinged tirade...
MDA: OK, I will be home next week...
Her: Spouting happy wife shit...

You got her hooked bro

Its your own fault.

Agreed, you nailed it!!

Seen it this morning. This was movie was DAMN GOOD!!

No, its not the greatest script.... sure, if anyone nitpicks it enough... yes, they will find some minor issues with it..... but overall, it DELIVERS what ANY GOOD ACTION MOVIE is supposed to Deliver. IT HAS SOLID REPLAY VALUE.

^^^ I Totally Agree, it definitely felt like one of those throwback 90's military / espionage / action movie Flicks!!

It kinda reminded me of several different military/espionage movies like: The Art of War, The Peacemaker, Broken Arrow, Shooter, Jack Reacher, Taken, 3 Days of the Condor, Passenger 57, Patriot Games, etc.

And the "post-credit scene" did what any good "post-credit scene' does....
It made me want to see MORE of these movies.

Ssshheeeiittt.... they can make MULTIPLE movie sequels out of this one. This movie was a great start!! All they is need to do is to put together a great 'ensemble cast' for the sequel... and this shit a "Blockbuster-Franchise-in-the-Making."

Michael B Jordan HAS ARRIVED.
He is a "CERTIFIED BADASS" in this movie.

When I finished watching it... I thought to myself.....THIS movie will do for MBJ's career what "The Bourne Identity" did for Matt Damon's career.

In this movie.... MBJ joins the ranks of Hollywood's Top (A-List) Action Heroes.
Names Like: Snipes, Stallone, Arnold, Liam Neeson, Russell Crowe, Denzel, etc.

It's definitely gonna be a Future "Hood Classic."
Before too long, they gonna be showing this shit in barbershops. In every hood. Everywhere.

Wait for it.
