Michael Kors, Gap, and Ralph Lauren are trying a new strategy to survive the retail apocalypse 2018

HIGH CALIBER

Life a bitch so fuck it
BGOL Investor
Fashion brand Michael Kors & others have seen a steady decline in its same-store sales growth since 2014. This is partly because of endless promotions in its stores and at wholesalers, such as department stores, which make the brand seem less exclusive to consumers.

These chains are now trying to reposition themselves as high-end retailer by reducing the number of promotions and pulling back from department stores to make the brand less available to the mass market.

In 2016, Coach & Ralph Lauren said it would be shuttering 25% of its 1,000-plus wholesale locations along with a "reduction in markdown allowances" to preserve the brand's statusafter being deemed too ubiquitous and promotional.

Yea but they still high everybody shit is leased they push a high sale promo on leasing most people in them can’t afford to buy one

They aren't high enough . Its akin to the everyone gets a participation trophy now a days. If they giving access to just anyone I want no parts of it. I was sitting in the dealership talking with a good friend who sold me my car waiting on my oil change .

Younger dudes came in reeking of weed skinny jeans at the knee caps a few saks and Louis Vuitton bags. They was on how much does this cost and let me sit in the driver's seat. My thing is if you taking public transportation as your only means why ask in person use the internet?

See how ya don't need to protest to end name brands. What has happened is online brands can now be created by damn near anybody and no one cares as much about these brands. None of these companies made ads that pissed people off, had a CEO who said something crazy, supported or not supported blacklivesmatter- none of that. And they're still flopping. Why? Because the market. Amazon is killing them, and shtike fashionova is on the rise.

Bye to these companies. None of that shit is gonna work. I've bought do much shit off Instagram from indie people who buy wholesale and add their own touch to it.

You can wear that shit all your life but the fact that this article is written shows you those brands like the ones you cherish are getting smaller.

True because they have gone after the wrong economic demographic. You can best believe W.O. Bentley and Mr. Enzo Ferrari and others didn't stay afloat and profitable via depending on the average 9 to 5 broke folks back in the day. Today's individuals aren't making any real bread to pay for their kids private school buy anything home, cars etc out right.

Yet they rant and rave via social media like they are in the top social economic teir who shop via the pages of the Robb Report and other publications.

Half the time u don't pay attention. I said u were correct. The reason why the brands are hurting because they mass market and appeal toward everyone.

When Enzo Ferrari was alive he didn't depend on singers and actors for sales which has cheapen the brand ie rappers on ig just running to lease and hurting the value.

Today everything is marketed as afforable and not held via the top tier target market as solely for those who can out right buy a higher end car.

What do these companies declining have to do with protesting to shutdown another company? Market conditions are causing this, so how are the two related?

Yes, I know but what was your point for relating the HM thing?
Because people only watch markets rise and fall when they wanna see if their protest is effecting something. I'm showing you that in truth , the changes people wanna see happen organically

Maybe I'm missing something, because I dont remember people wanting MK and coach to be shutdown.
