Mechanic trick, for folks who work on cars

Wish I knew this when I had a water heater pressure release valve that broke. Ended up buying a whole new heater.

And for rusted bolts, PB Blaster is more effective than WD-40

Naw just spray that shit and let it sit.
If the first level is caked up and formed a serious seal, good luck with breaking that nut..

I’m just speaking from experience from the refinery world.

one of the stupidest jobs I recently did was change out some values a steam line.

we sprayed these bout like twice a day for three days before the job

before we started I asked the supervisor, if we could cut them with a grinder/saw

said no, they didn’t want to not hot work(chance of producing sparks) in that area

so we went up there with our 1 1/4 combination wrenches, hammer wrenches and mauls

for three hours we only removed 3 bolts of 24
We even bend a combo wrench, if u know anything about them, you know it takes some beat to bend one of them

they hired a specialty crew, who machines tighten bolts and nuts

the machine couldn’t loosen them damn bolts

in this situation, the temperature of the steam gets so hot, it causes the metal to expand some,
It’s almost like the bolts and nuts kinda become so tight, it’s like they’re welded together…
Lube aint gonna do nothing for that… the anti-seeze we used don’t last
