Mayor Of Kingstown! Who Watched it?

Hugh Dillon (born May 31, 1963) is a Canadian singer, actor, and television producer. The lead vocalist of the rock bands Headstones and Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, his acting roles include Albert Manning in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Mike Sweeney in Durham County, Ed Lane in Flashpoint, Nick in Left 4 Dead 2, Duncan Sinclair in X Company, Donnie Haskell in Yellowstone, and Ian Ferguson in Mayor of Kingstown. He is also a co-creator, executive producer, and series regular of the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown.[1]

He's definitely had an interesting career with music, TV, and movies.

I was surprised to read he was 62yo. I only really noticed his work in the late-2010s in Wind River, and it's cool to see him becoming a central character now in the 4th season of Mayor after playing a lesser role in the storylines in prior seasons.

His story is incredible, salute to him.

I really like how Sheridan created a space where all these OLDER actors and writers etc can thrive.

Paramount f**ked up royally letting him leave.

Indeed. I guess that's the tie in to Degrassi - The Next Generation back in the 2000s (as they filmed in Toronto). He would have been in his 40s then. Probably played a teacher or something, lol.

I wonder how he got onto Taylor Sheridan's radar. As Wind River (movie) and Yellowstone (series) were 2017 / 2018.

:eek2:

I LOVED Flashpoint and had no idea Sheridan was involved in THAT TOO!?!?!?

This is another example of realizing that there are MANY ways to get into the business not just IN FRONT of the camera.

If your GPS tells you to drive through Kingstown?

Throw your phone in the trash

I liked how the first few episodes of the season it looked quite cold. Lightly snowing in several seasons. Often seeing the characters' breath while talking. Said to pops - "They must have filmed this in the fall / winter ... that cold, bleak feel is really working compared to say a spring / summer version of it ..."

Yeah...cold as HELL.

That place looks like the apocalypse hit it

Agreed. I always like seeing people succeed later in their careers. They've paid their dues. Earned it.

With Sheridan ... his story is interesting too as he was lesser known for his acting back in the day, but clearly good as a writer / screenwriter. He really helped Paramount (+) secure its place in recent years.

Like you said ... NBC Universal is definitely expecting big things when he heads over there in a few years. Gonna be interesting to see how his success translates over time ...

He is going to kill it if they just back off and let him cook.

I hope the Law & Order franchise doesn't suffer because of it.

Because Taylor be having one new show idea with 3 seasons scripted EVERY MONTH if you let him.

Sheridan probably wanted out... Mergers mean budget cuts and layoffs...

And Skydance/Paramount going to mess up a lot of content especially if they get WBD... They want to micromanage everything....

I've heard so many theories. I read a good article when it happened I'll post it if I can find it.

bro if Kingstown was a real place?

the government would call in an airstrike...

monthly

Monthly, lol.

Interesting to see the filming in Pennsylvania in seasons 2 and 3, as Wikipedia notes.

Enjoyed seeing the filming there for Mare of Easttown, Dope Thief, and Task in recent years too!
^^^

Its crazy sad how California has not been a production center for YEARS now.

How many MILLIONs are they losing letting these other states take all that work and money?

These other states and Canada give so many incentives and tax breaks its a no brainer to film THERE instead of California where its expensive and COMPLICATED to work.

It don't make no sense.

Agreed. Especially with how integral productions are to their economy on the whole. The whole trickle down effect with other businesses like hotels, restaurants, and so on. Projects taking place for weeks / months at a time.

Speaking of tax breaks / incentives ... often see B.C. / Alberta / Ontario / Quebec / Atlanta mentioned in tv productions.

Exactly my point!

And apparetly he people overall are fiendly the crews THER are very professional and trustworthy. The stars feel safe and comfortable while filming.

the NEGATIVES are so minor it makes sense to move productions to AL those places.

Question is...WTF California gonna do now?

My dad would often joke about how movies or TV shows were trying to be passed off as L.A. or NY ... and he would recognize Vancouver's skyline, or some of the local GVRD (Greater Vancouver Regional District) mountains in the background ... say in a scene taking place on a bridge.

As long as the crews are professional, trustworthy and reliable ... keep working with them.

Unsure what California's next moves are in the years ahead. The pandemic, and of course industry strikes definitely didn't help their case.

Which Fake town is worst Kingstown or Sons of Anarchy's Charming?

I forgot that Sheridan was the SOA's Deputy of Police David Hale... Lol

He said if he didn't quit the show he never would became a writer...

Bro that might be an individual thread debate right there!!!????

I say Kingstown because of the SEVEN PRISONS!!!!

He's definitely had an interesting career with music, TV, and movies.

I first became aware of him back in 2008 when he was on a Canadian SWAT show called FLASHPOINT. CBS was airing it during the summer, if I recall correctly.

If you have Paramount Plus, you can watch all the seasons if interested.

Thanks for the info. Looks like it aired on CTV back in the day.

The CTV and Global stations in Canada carry alot of the stuff that airs / also airs on the likes of CBS, NBC, and ABC.

Flashpoint is a Canadian police procedural television series created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern and stars Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau, Sergio Di Zio, and Enrico Colantoni. The series premiered on CTV in Canada on July 11, 2008. In the United States, the first three seasons and the first part of the fourth were aired on CBS from July 11, 2008, until August 19, 2011. The show then aired on Ion Television starting on October 18, 2011, with the eighth episode of the fourth season. The series was distributed worldwide by Alchemy Television and Tele München Group.

On January 25, 2011, it was announced that Ion Television had acquired all rights to the show held by CBS, including the option to continue production. On May 1, 2012, the producers announced that the fifth season would be the last of the series.[1] The series finale aired on December 13, 2012.
