Matt Flynn’s short tenure in Oakland has come to an end.
Flynn, the quarterback acquired by the Raiders in a trade with the Seahawks this offseason, has been released, according to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated.
Although the Raiders traded for Flynn with the expectation that he would be their starter this season, he was beaten out in training camp and the preseason by Terrelle Pryor. When Pryor missed a game this season with a concussion, Flynn played so badly that he was demoted from second to third on the depth chart after Pryor returned. And now Flynn isn’t on the Raiders’ depth chart at all.
For the Raiders, who traded away a fifth-round pick for Flynn, this is an embarrassment that is compounded by the embarrassment of spending a fourth-round draft pick on quarterback Tyler Wilson and then cutting him before the start of the regular season. The good news, however, is that Pryor looks like a keeper at quarterback.
Now the question is where Flynn will end up. After failing to earn a starting job in Seattle or Oakland, there may not be another place where he could compete for a starting job. What might make sense is a return to Green Bay, where Flynn did good work as Aaron Rodgers‘ backup.

Didn't something happen to Brady similar? I remember Drew Henson was a starter at Michigan and I think he started over Brady. I be wondering how good Brady is at times when they can win 11 games with Cassel.

The Flynn deal was worse. He played 1 game. Yes he threw for 400+ yards. However it was versus the shitty Lions secondary and Aaron Rodgers (who was calling the plays for the game) was basically playing Madden. He called No-huddle, Shotgun passes the entire game.
People saw that game and thought Flynn was the second coming.

flynn is a veteran in time in the league not in experience. he couldn't beat out 2 unproven qb's and is cut again he is a nobody.. a nothing.

Nah, Brady was a winner in college. Real similar to Applewhite/Simms situation, except Tom had NFL measurable. They tried to make him Henson the man, but Brady always got the job done.

Cam is not regressing this year. He had a bad game yesterday, but overall his #'s have gone up every season. People knock him for wins, but thats more a Carolina Panther issue than a Cam Newton one. Dont make excuses for him cuz he doesnt need them. Save those for the bad QBs. Cam is one of the leagues best young QBs, if not the best. He'll have a big game this week.

Naw man I'm not faulting CAM, Im faulting the organization. What have they gotten cam? That to me shows me that there not doing the best to make him succeed. Look at the Young QB's in the league. Gabbert, Ponder,Locklear ,Tannehill, Bradford,Kap, Wilson all went out and tried to get their QB's players to make them successful.
