Marlena Shaw is a singer. Born Marlina Burgess in 1942, New Rochelle, New York, Shaw was discovered by Chess Records in 1966. She released her debut and sophomore albums on their subsidiary Cadet Records. She moved to Bluenote in 1972, and was that label's first female artist. Shaw still performs and records today.
