Well alright nigga I’m scared of youShe’s right. That was one of the most the most universally critically acclaimed American movies of 1989. It had SERIOUS Oscar buzz all over it that year. However it only ended up being nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor, (Danny Aeillo). No Black actors were nominated, no Best Picture nomination and no Best Director nomination for Spike. It won zero awards.
By contrast, that same year Driving Miss Daisy received nine nominations and won four: Best Picture, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress (Jessica Tandy). Morgan Freeman was nominated for Best Actor but lost.
...Also, it was the 1990 Oscars, not 1989.
