Man y'all can't front on that. This man momma died regardless of the circumstances. That's hella courage IMO. I didn't see nothing fake about that other than he was performing.

Thanks OP.

Kanye killed that song about his mother. Its unique to his upbringing in terms of the lyrics, that must have been hard for him. Good to see he is dealing with it.

Sorta like clappin for the lady in church knowing damn well she cant sing worth shit.

Damn GLC, is that you? Or maybe Rhymefest.

Anyway, I can't relate to you dog. I'm not even going to fuss with ya. But you have to realize that Kanye is strong voice in today's landscape of black music. He's always been consistent about who he is and continues to explore new avenues in music. This man is working to unite the world with magical vibrations.

And yes, Graduation was the best album IMO, but that's just me. You frontin' on Kanye, you're fronting on your people because we, as a people, know we have the most diversity of any culture.

Yeah, I saw that 'Stronger' performance with his extra movements and shit but he had to keep people interested. That's the art of performance and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But it sounds to me like you're just hating or trying to argue with ninjas IMO.

So in that case, if you come back with some evidence, I'll debate you that Kanye is one of the realest artist out here. As a matter of fact, he represents a majority of young brothers out here in the struggle IMO.

You might point to the pink sweaters and whatever but he called out G.W. during a telethon.

He didn't do shit for hip hop as a solo artist.:smh:

Man, is you serious or just rambling? Come with some Evidence like Dilated Peoples.

Oh no, I will:

Jesus Walks (Grammy)
Space Ship
All Falls Down

Diamonds (was a single about the mother land)

Just to name a few. You haven't done anything remotely close to this in your life. Tell me. Make up something, please. He built these gems from scratch with no blueprints.

See dudes take shit for granted when it comes to ninjas on the front lines creating shit. It's easy to sit back and critique shit but what have you done?

What have you contributed to hip hop culture at all besides your elementary insight? I'm not mad at you. I'm not catching feelings. I just can't stand unprovoked hating. Hating for no reason. And let me borrow this :smh:.

I agree. I felt like the 2nd joint was just about his message, not the beat or some crazy ass stage show. Even before dudes mom passed away he would always perform that song like she was on stage with him. I guess some people cant appreciate rap unless niggas is dancin around in shiny suits :smh:

Shit was alright. Feeble minded mofos who have no idea what it means to say fuck the norm and Im going to be different.........
Make my own shit, produce it, and Make millions and plats.......
Mofucka can you do that?!

The real substance that artist in the 60s and 70s had. Pure artistry. They all had to do something to be different.

I bet you Kanye will make at least five to six albums, in his career/ and see how many artist in 06-07 that came out with a freshman LP back it up or match it....

Thought the performance was tight......killed it when the nigga was praying during the best album nominations.

JFoxx gonna murder this nigga in his next stand-up.

^but i do agree that he's mostly pop...

Compared to who?

Kanye's records are soulful. You have a right to your opinion but what are you talking about? "Stronger, Good Life?" That shit was ill but I'll give you that one. But I'd call it more universal and uplifting but that's just my opinion.

props to him
that stronger performance was nice
the beat was sick near the end.

the one to his moms was decent....but after a while it just seemed like he was just putting on a show instead of giving a real dedication.
i truly believe he misses his moms, but come on man.
love kanye work...but didnt like that video

I just think people hate the fact that his music got all "Hollywood-ized" that's all.

It's something to watch a video of him performing, but going to the Grammys is another thing. Somehow when you share the same stage as white singers and whatnot, it makes people uncomfortable. Who the fuck do you think was at the Grammys. Not EVERYBODY in there was a Star. and I bet those tickets cost a pretty penny

I personally don't think his performance was all that great except for"Mama"
becuase it was more heartfelt.

......C/S'd to an extent, that song came out before his mother passed, and it was hot, and regardless of the performance coming off as "corny", i'm sure that it was hell-of prolific to him/family/friends and for that i give respect....doubt any of us would do different if in his shoes. i also think that it's semi-unfair to label him "POP", just because the white-mainstream has accepted and/or "adopted" him....if he was still underground/backpacking we'd all be yelling that KANYE is saving hip-hop. ALL OF THAT SAID....i think he's a pompous/arrogant/egocentric FOOL!!!! i used to be fan of his before "the roc" put him on, and i only knew him as that guy from "the background" at various mos/talib/etc. shows....i don't want to outwardly hate on him, because regardless of ANYTHING he's a black man doing positive things, but he WON'T be getting my money for his CD's:smh:!

You're right on the protection tip. Just look at all the broads that were chased off this board. We want to protect what's ours and I can relate to that. I can understand that stance.

But when cats are like "fuck him" or "he's pop," that's crossing the line of self hatred. Kanye is an explorer and he's only interested in the undone. He's willing to go that extra mile to be different and I can't respect opinions that hate on that.

It irks me at how many clones are out here. A dude that dares to be different and not conform and its not appreciated? Every brotha in here knows or knew a Kanye. That dude that had a Sega instead of a Nintendo.

He spoke against G.W. on live TV. He made a single against blood diamonds. And he's an attention whore? In that case everybody who's trying to be heard is an attention whore. Tupac was an attention whore?

This is very symbolic of the shit that goes on in this board. Nas gets hella responses over some coonery gossip shit and Kanye does a tribute to his late mother and gets criticized? That's beyond my comprehension. I can't relate.

I never said it was a great performance but I respect the man for his courage. His momma died, recently. I credit him for even going up there and performing.

HEY MAMA from his other album.

"Do you listen to music or do you just SKIM THROUGH IT" -HOVA:smh:

sorry to me that daft punk/stronger performance was straight fire

Im not the biggest kanye fan, but the dude can perform live, and his stage control and visual representation of the theme of his songs are always on point..

imo most Hip hop acts should take note, when you go to a show you want to see new shit, not folks just rhyming walking across the stage

A+
